Chapter 7: CHAOS

Chapter Text

Students in black uniforms began protesting outside of the school, something about the talented, and the student council's mutual murders. Class 78 was forced to stay inside the classroom, and everyone was looking out the window. Ikusaba called Naegi over; he obeyed like a puppy on a short leash. “Yes?”
The soldier spoke, her voice low. “Enoshima needs us to help her protect the founder’s statue. If I end up getting into trouble, would you help me? Remember, Enoshima will expose you to everyone.”
Naegi clenched his jaw, reluctantly agreeing. He and Ikusaba snuck out of the room, and the two took place around a statue.

It was quiet for an hour, and Naegi sat around looking at the grey clouds for a while. Crazy how so much could happen in under two days of Enoshima knowing his true talent.

Suddenly, he heard Ikusaba dealing with someone. He peeked around the statue; it was Pekoyama. That has to mean class 77 is in trouble. He went back to his spot behind the statue, listening to the two girls fighting get quieter as they moved away. The statue ended up opening, and Naegi didn’t leave his spot. “Weird… Huh…?”
A feminine voice spoke up, “Komaeda, look!”
The other voice, supposedly Komaeda’s, hummed. “We found a secret passage, cool. I really am super lucky, huh?”
Naegi snuck back to the classroom after the footsteps of his upperclassmen faded down the stairs.
Fujisaki ran up to Naegi once he returned, “Hey, how did it look out there? Everyone is saying that the reserve course is starting to break in by attacking people…”
Naegi’s eyes widened slightly, “Really? I only went to the bathroom, so I didn’t end up seeing what it looked like…”
Fujisaki nodded in understanding, “Got it… We’re all scared of what’s happening, minus Togami, Celeste, and Kiri…”

Naegi looked at his classmates. Kuwata and Hagakure were close to each other, trying to smoke without getting caught; Togami was sitting in a chair, reading a book, typical; Celeste was sipping a cup of tea, unbothered by the riot beginning outside.
Yamada shivered in a corner. Asahina sat beside Ogami, both cuddled close, keeping each other calm by talking. Fukawa sat behind Togami, shivering but watching the back of his head.
Ishimaru and Owada sat beside each other, both trying to distract themselves with conversation. Maizono was on her phone, frantically typing. Kiri wrote in her notebook.

It wasn’t long before glass began breaking, students began screaming, and all of class 78 huddled close, Naegi in front of Togami. The assassin sighed. “Guys… I have something to confess if we don’t end up making it.”
Everyone shuddered at his words, but they all were quiet to let Naegi continue, which he reluctantly did. “I’m not the ultimate lucky student like I said I was. I was kidnapped in middle school by a group known as Saviour Society. I agreed to become an assassin to save my sister, but I made a deal with them to protect those who did nothing wrong and kill those who are scumbags in our society.”
Everyone was quiet surprise, written on their faces, and Togami spoke up, “You plebeians didn’t figure that out? I’ve known that from before his introduction.”
Naegi groaned. “Because I protected you for a year, Togami. But don’t worry, everyone, I absolutely hate being an assassin, and I will do my best to protect all of you.”

The rest of the day went on as normal; students were ultimately fine, and no one was harmed. Naegi twiddled his thumbs as everyone, besides Togami and Celeste, stood around him, asking questions. Asahina spoke up. “Why wait until now to tell us?”
Naegi looked at her. “I didn’t want you guys to think I would randomly harm you. I want you guys to trust me and actually spend time with me out of enjoyment, not because of fear.”
Everyone looked at each other, content with that answer. Kirigiri stared at him, her gaze strong. Naegi sighed. “It’s okay if you still don’t trust me, Kiri. I’m used to it.”

A week passed, and nothing crazy happened, until class 77's graduation was supposed to start. Half of the school blew up, causing everything to shake. Mass suicide, mass murder, the works. Everything was hell. Naegi kept as many homicidal maniacs from his classmates as he could, mainly protecting Togami.

Once the end calmed down, class 78 was forced to repair the school a little, at least, to cover the windows. Jin Kirigiri met with them, asking them individually if they were okay with staying there for the rest of their life, giving humanity hope again, and recording the interactions too.

But… It all faded quickly. The memories, these memories. They all disappeared.

Notes:

Notes:

This might take forever to write still bc of life and stuff, but I plan on finishing this! I no longer have school, but I do have a life and other things that I don't plan on sharing with people idk.
