Chapter Text

The spire gardens were beautiful.

While the plant life in the Spire of Deceit was sparse and often jagged, the garden was perfectly made. Neat and almost friendly, milkcrowns and sheep plants grew neatly as the rose bushes surrounded the garden.

A flowing milk stream weaved between the meringue trees. Following its path would lead you to him.

Following the winding path of the stream and the trail of black vanilla orchids is where he lays. Surrounded by a protective wall of hedges and black vanilla orchids, a glass coffin stood illuminated by sunlight. Inside lay Pure Vanilla Cookie.

He was serene. He was completely pristine, untouched, and beautiful. His long blonde curls were spilled out underneath him, tucked within his curls were little offerings of milkcrown flowers. His arms were folded against his chest.

Footsteps crunched on the grass approaching the coffin. A wolf dressed like a sheep that'd been laying by the coffin lifts its head before running off as the cookie approached.

A shadow was cast over the coffin as the figure hovered above it. Shadow Milk Cookie's silhouette was cast over Pure Vanilla Cookie's peaceful face.

He stared at the sleeping figure silently. Unblinking. His face contorted into a deranged grin as he looked down at Pure Vanilla Cookie. He ran a finger over the glass.

“Oh Vanilly… you poor foolish thing. You really thought you could've escaped didn't you?”

The beast chuckled and retracted his hand slowly. His eyes were wide and pupils were blown and manic, he tilted his head, the grin seemingly a permanent fixture on his face. He didn’t blink.

“Thinking you can trick me? Me?! I never thought you could be that… stupid!!”

He was practically talking to a brick wall. Pure Vanilla never stirred, he couldn’t stir. Shadow Milk didn’t care, he just kept ranting on and on.

“We could’ve had something together, you know. I felt it. I know you did too.”

“You just had to betray me.”

“That’s okay though. You failed anyway. I still won.”

“I’ll keep you here. Pristine and safe. A centerpiece in my very own show!”

Shadow Milk Cookie floated around the coffin as he rambled on and on about victory and orchestrating a new show for himself. It was a shame Pure Vanilla Cookie couldn’t join.

Black Sapphire Cookie and Candy Apple Cookie stood near the garden, from their view they could see their master floating around the area where Pure Vanilla Cookie was being kept. They weren’t allowed anywhere near the coffin. Shadow Milk Cookie didn’t want them “tampering” with the centerpiece.

“He’s getting bad again…” Black Sapphire muttered, his arms crossed as he watched with mild concern.

Candy Apple Cookie scoffed. Her arms were crossed as well. She rolled her eyes as she watched her master.

“Tch. How come he gets all of Master Shadow Milk Cookies attention?! He’s just… just some blonde idiot who tried to trick our master!” She spoke louder than what Black Sapphire was comfortable with.

“Shhh!! Lower your voice you brat! Unless you want to be put into a card again.” Black Sapphire whisper yelled at Candy Apple.

A shutter went down his spine as he felt the sudden gaze of his master on him.

In an instant Shadow Milk Cookie was in front of the two of them with a wide smile, Black Sapphire Cookie jumped.

“Black Sapphire Cookie! New plan! I want you to go down to Crispa and spread the nastiest rumors you can think of!” Shadow Milk Cookie’s gaze flickered down to Candy Apple Cookie. “And take Candy Apple Cookie with you! I need time to plan!”

“Yes Master Shadow Milk Cookie!” The both of them spoke in unison, Candy Apple scampered off while Black Sapphire bowed and disappeared into the shadows.

Shadow Milk Cookie’s grin flickered before dropping completely.

He turned back towards the small cage of hedges where his sleeping beauty lay. He didn’t know what he was going to do, or even doing. The Light of Truth didn’t speak to him, neither did the Light of Deceit.

He floated back towards the coffin and stood over it. He didn’t smile anymore. The show was over, but he wanted an encore… but what was the encore without his guest?

“... Look at you. I can believe how pathetic this is.” Shadow Milk Cookie sneered as he looked down at Pure Vanilla. “It’s ironic really. You used to practically worship that dear White Lily Cookie so much… Now look at you. Stuck fast asleep in a pretty little glass coffin.”

Shadow Milk Cookie leaned on the top while floating off the ground. There was a smirk plastered on his face like he'd just thought up the wittiest thing possible. He floated up and hovered right over Pure Vanilla Cookie looking down at his face.

He went quiet as he hovered. He couldn't stop staring at Pure Vanilla Cookies face. His mind was racing a thousand miles per minute.

His eyes were wide, he hadn't blinked in a while by now and didn't seem to even notice while in this state.

Pure Vanilla never changed once, no furrowed brow, no shifting of the body, hardly even a rise of the chest, he was just… Laying there unresponsive. Unburdened by anything.

Shadow Milk Cookies face relaxed for just a moment. He was realizing that this rambling wasn't going to be getting him anywhere obviously. He lowered himself down onto the coffin carefully, relaxing his body as he laid above Pure Vanilla Cookie. His voice was a whisper.

“... I wish you'd wake up."
