Chapter Text
With Eddie and Volt out of the house and working now, and you still realizing the last couple of objects in the house, it’s been quite lonely lately. You realized Kopi today, and it’s starting to hurt to see them walking out the door like that. a lot of them don't have phones yet, but the ones who do are at least calling every once in a while.
The door himself has requested he’s realized last, aside from Skylar, in order to protect you for longer. And to, in his words, ‘make sure those miscreants don’t try anything’. You’ve told him he’s overreacting, and that they’re really nice, but he doesn’t want to hear it. He’s still going on about Eddie’s stubble. You happen to like his stubble. He knows he can't say anything about Volt being too flirty with you though; you’ve met the trap door.
You only really need to realize the objects in the office now, as well as a couple of odd objects around the house. Not that they’re odd, they’re just the only ones in their respective rooms… alright maybe a couple of them are a little odd.
You’re quickly snapped from your thoughts when you hear the front door open, quickly running down stairs to go meet your beloveds.
They watch you run down the stairs, skipping a step at the bottom, and hurrying to give them each a hug.
“Oof- Hello to you too, Spark. Are you going to do that every time we get back?” Eddie laughs, though he returns your hug anyway.
“Eddie, don’t tease her, she might stop doing it.” He nudges Eddie with his elbow, “I for one love seeing our Livewire first thing when we get home.” It makes your heart flutter that they call this place home. You realize that may be a little silly, seeing as it had been their home before, but still.
“Have you eaten yet? Let me make us something.” Volt says, kissing you on the forehead and already making his way to the kitchen. “Hey, wait. You just got here, let me do it tonight. I want to–” your sentence is cut short as Eddie wraps his arms around your waist from behind, planting a kiss to the back of your neck.
“Wh– hey!” you blush, “Stop that, you can’t just… do that every time I try and help.” you pout.
“Works though, doesn’t it?” you can feel his smirk against your skin, as well as the warmth emanating from your face. He’s been doing this a lot recently. with how many objects are realized, he doesn’t have to worry as much about being seen. That is excluding the door, who is in every room, but he doesn’t give a shit about what Dorian thinks.
You’ll admit, it does work. But you can tell he’s also leaning on you because he’s tired from being out all day, so you’re not going to make him stop doing it any time soon. It is a little annoying that they won’t let you at least help though.
Eddie pulls away from you and the two of you follow Volt into the kitchen. It’s become a bit of a routine as of late; Volt cooks dinner for the two of you, and Eddie tells you about what all they’ve been working on. They had just bought a diner that they plan to fix up and you can’t wait to see it after you’re allowed to leave your house again.
“How was your day, Spark?” Volt chimes in, still facing the stove.
“It was good. Same as usual. I realized Kopi today!”
It’s the answer he expected, but it still makes him sad to see how little you’ve been doing for yourself recently. Every day, it’s ‘good, Realized someone.’ and that’s it. He knows you miss the club. It was the only sense of normalcy you’ve had in a long time, and now it’s gone. He can only hope these last few realizations go by quickly so he and Eddie can start taking you out places. He’s had an eye on this one restaurant he thinks would make for a good place for a date.
You smile though. Your days may be boring, but hearing about theirs makes you feel better. And it makes you happy that they still ask you, even though you don’t really do much. Though you hope to change that soon. Maybe you can finally start using that gym more. You’ll admit, after Dunk got realized, you lost motivation pretty quickly. Maybe you can try again.
-----------
After dinner, the three of you cuddle up on the couch together. The living room is the only room where you have complete and total privacy, with no lingering datables to be realized, so it feels more comfortable for Eddie to be himself around the two of you.
As usual, you sit in the middle. Volt sits to your left with a book, and Eddie on your right, pressed into your side with his head on your shoulder. Eddie was farther away, but you pulled him over. He pouted about it, of course, but he didn’t move.
Eddie has been enjoying spending time with you and Volt like this. He likes that you don’t make him talk, and he can just sit here and be with you. Sometimes he doesn’t mind conversation, but he’s tired today. Tired to the point where he can feel himself drifting to sleep...
You laugh when he jolts himself awake, “Do you want to go to bed now?”
He blushes, a little embarrassed. “...No, I want to stay here.” partly because he’s tired, but he also doesn’t want to go upstairs yet because he just likes it better here. He can’t wait for you to realize Diana and Amir (who he’s still pissed at for almost killing you.) so the bedroom is free of people.
You have an easy solution to that, “Lay down then.”
He laughs, “Spark, there’s no room.”
You roll your eyes. There’s plenty of room. You pat your thighs, gesturing for him to lie down and his face turns red almost instantly, “Wh– i can’t do that, you… i–” You hear Volt chuckle to the side of you, “Eddie, she’s offering. It would be rude to refuse~” He teases, only serving to fluster Eddie more.
“I– are you sure? I don’t…”
God, he’s so cute when he’s flustered. “It’s fine. Only if you want to though.” Eddie is practically short circuiting, though he can’t use that as an excuse anymore now that he no longer has circuits…
He looks you over, trying to make sure you’re really fine with that but he doesn’t find an ounce of discomfort in your features. You really don’t mind. You want him to, if anything. It’s better than falling asleep on your shoulder. That didn’t seem too comfortable anyway.
“I...fine” he grumbles, reluctantly lying his head down on your legs. He won’t face you though. That would be too much. His face is already red enough without looking at you, as well as having his face so close to…Nevermind. He doesn’t want to think about that.
You and Volt look at each other. You’re both thinking the same thing; he’s adorable. Your face is a little warm too, but you couldn’t care less.
You move your hand to his upper arm, rubbing little circles into the fabric of his shirt. He’s even more flustered than he thought was possible, and he's a little nervous from being so close like this too. He doesn’t want to move too much. How do you do this to him? He lays there silently for a moment, but…
“Hey spark?” He mumbles.
You smile, “Yeah?”
“Can… Mm, nevermind.”
“What is it?”
“S’ nothing. Nevermind.”
No, you’re not letting him get away with that. “Eddie…” he grumbles. He can hear the smile in your voice.
“Mm, fine.” He doesn't want to ask because he’s already so red, but he does. “Can you… maybe run your hand through my hair again? Felt nice last time… or don’t. I don't care…”
You try so hard to hold back a laugh because you don’t want him to think you’re laughing at him, but that was so fucking cute. You move your hand to card through his hair and you can just barely see a small smile forming on his face as he leans into your touch.
You love this man.
You look over to Volt again to see him looking at Eddie with pure love in his eyes, and a little bit of pink on his cheeks as well. You lean farther into his side. Not enough to disturb Eddie, but enough for him to turn his attention to you now. He presses a kiss to the top of your head.
There’s nowhere any of you would rather be right now.
-----------
Eddie had tried so hard to stay still and not disturb you, but he’s starting to get uncomfortable staying in the same position for so long. He needs to move. He carefully rolls onto his back to see you had fallen asleep against Volt’s side. Volt is still very much awake though, smiling down at him.
“Comfortable?” he whispers, so as to not wake you.
“Shut up.”
“Ah– no, it was a serious question. I’m not teasing this time.”
“Oh. uh, yeah…” he once again feels his face becoming warm.
Volt chuckles, “You know, I'm not one to get jealous, but…” He can’t help but wish that he was where Eddie is right now. That, or maybe in your place, with Eddie on his lap. Maybe both. Though there’s plenty of time for all of those lovely ideas. He doesn’t want Eddie to move though. Not at all. He looks happy there, and that’s all he needs.
Eddie rolls his eyes. Of course Volt would want to have his head on your thighs. He’ll admit, it is comfortable. Though he knows it won’t be in the morning. And especially not for you…
“Should we bring her to bed now? She’s going to be sore in the morning.”
Volt resists the urge to laugh, his mind quickly jumping to the most inappropriate interpretation of that.
“Perhaps.”
Eddie carefully sits up, looking back to make sure he hadn’t woken you, and stands from the couch. It’s gotten dark outside. It hadn’t felt like they were there for that long... Eddie carefully picks you up from the couch, allowing Volt to stand, and the two of them take you up to bed.
They were right; you were incredibly sore when you woke up.
-----------
In the morning, you feel horrible. You’re sore and groggy. But the worst part is that your bed is missing someone.
You had gotten used to having someone on either side of you as you slept. Volt is still here, holding you tightly from behind, but Eddie is nowhere to be found. Why does that make you a little nervous?
You’re relieved to see him come through your bedroom door though, holding two mugs of coffee. “Morning, Spark.”
You sit up and take the hot mug from his hands, but it’s a bit difficult to move with how Volt is holding you. You don’t think you could wake him if you tried right now. Eddie moves in to sit with you.
“Thanks. How long have you been up?”
“Not long.”
He’s lying. He’s been up for at least an hour on the computer, but he won’t tell you that. He’s planning a surprise. he had tried to sneak back earlier, but you looked like you were about to wake up soon, so coffee was his excuse.
“Alright. You had me worried for a second,” you laugh.
“What? Why?”
Oh, you hadn’t meant for him to take that seriously. “No, I just meant… you weren’t here. I wasn’t really worried…” Oh you aren’t being convincing at all.
“I’m sorry, I didn't mean to. I’ll wake you up next time.”
“No, you don’t have to. It’s alright.”
Eddie hadn’t wanted you to know he was up so early, but if it was going to stress you out, maybe he should stop sneaking out of bed.
You feel Volt cuddling closer into your side. It looks like you’re being too loud. You take a small sip of your coffee, hoping it’s cooled down enough to drink. Eddie likes his extremely hot, which you don’t understand at all.
You’ve noticed he likes it better with milk and sugar, but when he makes it for himself, he leaves it black. He makes yours the way you like it though. It reminds you of the way he had always made your whisky sours look pretty, but his were just plain, and sometimes just straight whisky.
You think you should start making his coffee for him more often. He insists that he doesn’t care, but you can tell he does.
Eddie pauses to think for a moment, “How many more people do you need to realize?”
"Oh, uh, let's see..." you haven't counted in a while. You move to reach over Eddie to grab your phone and the glasses. He hands them to you, and you check to see how many you have…
“Only… eleven left. We’re close!” You smile. You can’t wait to finally leave the house.
You can’t believe you actually want to leave, but you do. You never really had before, but maybe you’re just tired of being cooped up in here. Or maybe you just can’t wait to show your loves all of the new things they've never seen before…or maybe because this house is starting to feel a little lonely when Eddie and Volt are gone…
Either way, you can’t wait.
“Yeah, we are.,” he smiles, “What’s the first thing you’re going to do when they’re all gone?”
you resist the urge to say... nope, nevermind. the intrusive thoughts won.
“You.”
“What?”
“What?”
Eddie’s face heats up, and he looks at you with wide eyes. “Wh– i… you what? I thought you…” you’re blushing a little too, but you smirk, “You heard me.”
“I… yeah, I heard you. I just didn’t expect that.” he says, turning away from you a little.
you hear Volt mumble to the side of you, “Didn’t expect what?” He’s pushing himself up to sit with you.
“Sorry, were we too loud?” you ask, as though Eddie isn’t beet red to the side of you. “No, it’s alright. What were you talking about?”
“Just what we planned to do after everyone gets realized. We only have eleven to go, including Skylar herself.”
Eddie can’t believe you’re just ignoring him after that. He’s still looking away, trying to hide the blush with a hand over the lower half of his face, though he knows that won’t work at all.
Volt rubs the sleep from his eyes, leaning back into you, “I see, how exciting. I certainly know what i’m doing once everyone is gone~” he teases with a flirty voice that he has no right using when it already sounds like that from sleep. He sounds too hot to be saying shit like that this early.
You blush, finishing your coffee and handing it to Eddie to set on the bedside table. Volt smirks, “Can I have a taste?” he asks, moving closer to your face.
You roll your eyes, the pink color spreading even more across your face, “You don’t even like coffee.”
“I may not, but I love the way you taste.” he moves in, kissing you gently on the lips.
Once again, nowhere you’d rather be.
