Chapter Text
Masuya is broke.
Perhaps spending so much money on merch right before a fan meeting wasn’t the best idea—because now she has nothing.
Which she is used to—a fan’s wallet is always empty—but she really needs a job.
The cafe she works at is good, but it’s not enough funding for her spending habits. But where else could she go? Someplace that will hire her, pays well, and will still let her go to school.
Hmm…
She lets out a small sigh as she puts her head in her hand. She probably should be paying attention right now, but she can’t focus—the teacher doesn’t seem to care either way.
Masuya’s grades aren’t terrible. She’s not at the top of her class, but she’s still doing pretty well in most classes. Which is a surprise as she doesn’t study.
Maybe she should do that. But why? She could be spending that time fangirling.
As soon as the bell rings, students sitting around her start to spring up out of their desks. She watches as groups—cliques—start to form and speak to each other. Not to her.
Never to her.
Her ears barely register the clinking of keychains as she stands up. She was too distracted by the plaguing question still bouncing around her head.
Perhaps she should try to look online? There might be a guide somewhere to help with fangirl budgeting. Unless she’s the only one with this problem—which is entirely possible. I mean, not everyone spends money on merch—
“—Excuse me, Kino-san,” An unfamiliar voice speaks up. She blinks up to look at the boy in front of her.
Dark hair, glasses, pristine uniform. Is he in the student council? He seems like the type.
“Um, yes?” She replies, forcing on a smile.
“Well, um….” He adjusts his glasses and clears his throat. “I noticed that you seem to be distracted. Is this subject hard for you?”
Masuya glances at her textbook, and “MATH” stares back at her. She’s never been good at the subject, but she’s not doing terribly either. Is it that obvious that she was daydreaming?
“Oh….well…” She rubs the back of her neck and gives a slight shrug. “It’s a little difficult, I suppose. But I’m not failing so….” She leaves the sentence unfinished, opting to cling to her bag instead.
She can’t see the boys’ eyes, but his lips tighten into a frown.
“Failure isn’t a good gauge for one’s skill.”
Her eyes narrow slightly. She didn’t want a lecture.
‘Well, it’s mine.’ She wants to say. But she doesn’t. Instead, she shrugs again, looking down at the ground.
She never noticed that the floors in this classroom are tiled.
“There’s tutoring after school, on Fridays,” The boy continues. “You should join us.”
Oh, that’s why. He probably just needs more students going to prove it’s useful.
“I’ll think about it.” She says.
And that was the end of that.

The next time she sees Utage, she’s getting ready to head to work. Masuya knows because she has her hair in a ponytail. Utage waves at her, Riko, and Yuina as she walks out of the school.
That’s when it clicks for Masuya.
Maybe…she could work at Utage’s place!
Her feet carry her to the girl’s side, ignoring the confused shouts of Riko and Yuina.
“H-hey, Uta-chan! Sorry if this is sudden, but can I come to work with you?”
Utage's smile—albeit confused—expression quickly shifts to worry.
“Like on my shift? I don’t think the client would like that!”
“No, no! Not on your shift! I meant to go to your workplace. I….I was wondering if they were hiring.” Masuya says, her gaze falling to the cobbled ground.
Utage lets out a sigh of relief and nods. “Oh well—“ She cuts herself off. Is she thinking?
Did Masuya say something wrong? Maybe she shouldn’t have asked—perhaps she should just find somewhere else.
“I….suppose you can apply? Just be careful.”
Masuya is so excited that she doesn’t even think about Utage’s warning. Not until hours after she went and gave in an application.
It’s just a job, how bad could it be?

Masuya is fucked.
She is so fucked.
On a good note, she was hired at the same cleaning service that Utage works at. She was able to start working on the same day—they gave her a client at the same location as Utage.
She didn’t understand why Utage was so nervous until she was standing at the door of her client. The above resident to Utage’s client.
She knocks once, but as her knuckles move to hit the door the second time, it slams open.
“Haha, I knew you would come work for me—!“ The boy laughs, only to pause as he meets Masuya’s eyes.
“—Who the fuck are you?” He sneers, his midnight blue eyes narrowing. He looks pissed, which is completely different than when he opened the door. Like he was expecting someone.
Depsite that, she knew that face. She would recognize it anywhere. Soft looking porcelain skin, eyelashes long enough that girls are jealous, dreamy blue eyes you could get lost in, midnight inky hair styled neat as a pin. Even with his scowl he still looks charming!
It has to be—!
“Y-y-“
Masuya stutters. She couldn’t even get her words out. Then again, how could she? The person right in front of her—
“YOU’RE OURI SAKAG—!”
In the blink of an eye, she was in the apartment and kabedoned against the wall.
“Shut up! Who are you and how do you know where I live!?” He scowls. “Are you a stalker?! I’ll call the police!”
He bombards her with questions, but Masuya can’t answer.
She…..
!!She’s currently being kabedoned by her oshi!!
“What the fuck!! Don’t go bleeding on me! I still have questions!”
