Chapter Text
Akito couldn’t believe the mess he is in, dream nor nightmare wouldn’t have HIM in it. Tsukasa’s smile makes him want to rub it off with an eraser, how can someone be so happy in a situation like this?
He could open the door and leave to his lesson, to do nothing more than listen to teacher talk about mathematics...thinking about it, he sure is lucky to have an excuse to not go to lesson now. Could even bump into someone weirder than Tsukasa, Akito immediately feels sick imagining a situation like that. Staying here until break with Tsukasa wouldn’t slowly tear his brain apart, surely?
“Hello, Tsukasa-senpai...” his voice low, not trying to hide how fed up he is. Tsukasa’s admirable expression broke for a second, before going back to normal.
“What brings you here?” a quizzed look on Tsukasa’s face.
He crosses his arms and sighs “Didn’t you hear? Got sent here because I was running in the halls.”
Tsukasa shakes his head in disappointment, putting one of his hands on his hips while the other was pointing directly at him.
“Running in the halls is a danger to anyone nearby you! And much more when alone, you could slip, fall and hurt yourself, Akito!” Tsukasa’s lecture is difficult for Akito to take seriously, made sense why he's a school hall monitor in the first place.
“Is it the reason why your forehead is red?” Akito’s tired eyes flick open, his hand touching his forehead the sting still lingers.
“I don’t want to talk about it.” he felt Embarrassed, Tsukasa’s posture falters into a concern one.
Silence follows suit, no sound, no movement, only sombre silence. Feeling guilty of ruining the mood, Akito quickly thinks of a way to guide him out of this awkward situation.
“Say, how on earth did you even get detention?” Akito tried his hardest to give out a confident act, but Tsukasa stares at him.
“Hm” Tsukasa puts his hand on his chin, while his eyes concentrated on him. Akito had never seen this side of the rowdy blond, and he sure as hell didn’t like it.
In a blink of an eye, Tsukasa returns to his confident face “For being too loud in the halls while I was walking to my class! I might need to tone down my voice...” He pauses.
“I’ve been struck down with bad luck, twice in a row, oh how so unforgiving this world is to a star with dream.” words filled with sorrow.
One thing Akito likes about Tsukasa is his acting skills, more so how he can control his voice and not swimming in his own tears over detention.
“Adds up.” Akito feels like someone is missing... “Odd Kamishiro-senpai isn’t in the same room as you are in. You're usually attached to him wherever you go.”
Tsukasa frowns “Rui hasn’t broken any of the rules, nor has been himself today. Hasn’t been using any of his gadgets, being cautious around his surroundings, it's very odd.”
Tsukasa couldn’t be this idiotic, Akito doesn’t understand how he can’t see the environment they’re breathing in isn’t natural. Perhaps being glued with Rui for so long gave him a side effect.
“Have you seen how the school is today? He finally encountered people way weirder than he’ll ever be! Of course he’ll be cautious around his surroundings.”
“They're quite extraordinary in their own ways, but they do not mean any harm! They’re just like us.” Tsukasa puts his hand to his chest. A faint smile on his face.
Akito rolls his eyes a sourly stare he gives Tsukasa, the blond taking a back of the ginger’s reaction.
“They’re ‘quite extraordinary’” using his hands, Akito air quotes Tsukasa “AREN’T they Tsukasa-senpai? Hey, maybe the person who teleported us here doesn’t have any malicious intentions!” Akito’s doesn’t attempt to hide the bitterness in his voice.
“Don’t be so black and white Akito! They’re just regular people like you and I! Please, just read the boards behind me.” Tsukasa raised his voice.
He looks over Tsukasa’s shoulder to see boards on the walls, seems to be information about them. Unfortunately, there's more of them he hasn’t met yet and hopefully will never meet.
Akito eyes look back to Tsukasa’s face, a weak smile with bright yellow eyes focusing on him. Through those bright eyes, a glint of nervousness can be seen.
Sighing out of pity, Akito walks over to the boards “I’ll take a glance, a couple of words will surely change my perspective.”
Reaching one of the information boards Akito takes a closer look at it, the boarders around the board were made from a wood texture. He touches the surface a texture like plastic, felt rigid and sharp it could give him a paper cut. The surface within the boarders was black with white text on the right, while on the left there seems to be a portrait of a green broom different from the ones he sees at stores, quality of the portrait wasn’t the best as if it was taken from afar and zoomed in.
Akito Looks down below the portrait, a label with white letters spelling out the word ‘Gotta sweep’ from his understanding, it must be the name of the broom. His eyes shifts back to the right, Letters and words of medium-sized potentially having information about the object, Akito reads them carefully:
‘What do you do when the school open in 7 hours and you haven’t hired a janitor?
Hire a broom!
It sweeps everything!’
Akito’s head spins back to Tsukasa, who is currently looking at the tape recorder on the table, his fingers clicking on one of the buttons resulting in nothing happening. Tsukasa notices Akito looking at him and happily waves back at him, Akito returns the wave with his less ecstatically one.
“Tsukasa, are you sure these people are normal.” Akito points at the portrait of the broom “Clearly, I don’t think anyone could even possibly hire a broom without a janitor!”
Tsukasa points at Akito “Akito! If they could teleport us to detention, then the possibilities that a broom can be hired as a staff is quite high, isn’t it not?”
He thinks about Tsukasa’s statement “Crazy as it sounds, you have a point.” he felt cringe agreeing with Tsukasa.
Bright as ever, Tsukasa puts his arms on his hips with a confident smile, anything to boast his ego. His confidence drops, as he turns to face the ticking clock above the blue door. Akito stares from a distance, confused on the sudden drop of his confidence.
“Hasn’t our time in detention practically over now? We’ve been here longer than what they set our detention time for.” said Tsukasa.
He walks towards the blue door, then looks back at Akito “Shouldn’t we head back to class?”
“We should just wait out the clock until our lessons are over. You really don’t want to go outside in the hallways.” Akito scratches his head.
“Whys that?” Tsukasa puzzled.
“Theres something way worse than sitting here for 40 seconds waiting for us out there.” Akito vaguely spills out.
Tsukasa opens his mouth to speak, although a distant jingle from the hallways interrupts him. Akito intrigued by the jingle, makes his way to the window to see where its coming from. Listening in to it slowly reminds him of another similar jingle he had heard. It clicks in his brain, It's her.
“Why is she here!?” Akito muttered to himself.
“What's the matter, Akito?” Akito looks back to Tsukasa, a confused look on the boy’s face.
“it's the jump rope girl I encountered when travelling to school, she's the main reason why I got here late!”
“Playtime, you mean?” Tsukasa said.
“How on eart-” Akito utterly confused.
Tsukasa’s hand points in a direction, Akito eyes drift over to where he's pointing at, which was another board having a portrait of the jump rope girl. Deep down in all his confusion, Akito is enthralled by Tsukasa’s will to be interested in anything.
“Were you really that bored being stuck in here, Tsukasa-senpai?” Tsukasa returns with a thumbs up.
He can’t believe a parent would call their child ‘playtime’, luckily for Akito the size of the letters made him able to read the description of ‘Playtime’ from where he was currently standing.
‘Despite her poor eyesight. She's always looking for a playmate!’
‘Let’s play!’
Having poor eyesight yet was able to see him quite faraway on the pathway surprises Akito. He can’t believe she ended up following him here to school, cursed to attract weirdos to it.
The jingles die down in Akito’s ears, sighs of relief not having to deal with her again. looking at the clock above Tsukasa's position, the minute hand nears to the end hour of their lesson and break will begin.
He awaits at the blue door alongside Tsukasa “I’ll be trying to find Toya when break hits, what are you going to do?”
“Good question, I may follow the path you’ll be taking to Toya! I would love to talk with him and see how’s he's faring today!” as long as Toya smiles talking to Tsukasa, it won’t be a bother for Tsukasa to come with.
“Hm, I think he’d like the company.” Akito said with glee.
The clock’s hands tick, tick and tick until the minute hand lands on the hour of break. Door opening into familiar hallways, leaving the unfamiliar room behind.
