Chapter Text
Anxious.
That was one way to describe how Wemmbu was feeling right now. He was sitting in a large meeting room, fluorescent white lights buzzing in the background and shining too brightly into his eyes.
Parrot had brought him to some underground bunker not too long ago with the promise of destroying the mafia. Wemmbu wasn’t sure why, but he trusted his word.
Now though, he wished he didn’t.
He had been left alone in this room for the past ten minutes with no signs of Parrot and he was starting to get on edge. Parrot had said he needed to get someone before they could talk, but would it really take this long to get a person?
What if Parrot was contacting the mafia right now, telling them his coords so they could finish him off? Gosh, he didn’t even test to see if Parrot was in the mafia! What if this was an elaborate set up to get Wemmbu killed? How did Parrot even know where Wemmbu would be? Ferre and Clown must have told him to wait by the tree in case Wemmbu came back. And now that he did, Parrot was probably texting Clown where he was.
He’s so stupid. He wasn’t thinking, he just grasped onto the first thing that could get him revenge for Egg. If he had stopped and thought this through he probably would not have said yes at all. He let his emotions override all his critical thinking. This was what Mane was talking about; he jumps into things without thinking first, makes sense why Mane left-
Before he could continue into his downward spiral footsteps came into the room. The dragon hybrid perked up at the noise, mentally preparing himself for a fight. To his surprise, he was just met with a Parrot and a Wifies.
Both seemed far too relaxed for an ambush. That calmed some of Wemmbu’s nerves, though not entirely. He was still prepared to get jumped from the ceiling. Whether Parrot and Wifies noticed Wemmbu’s unease or not, neither seemed to acknowledge it, as both took a seat by the front of the table near Wemmbu. Parrot sat at the head of the table and Wifies by his right-hand side. Wemmbu was on the left of Parrot and directly across from Wifies .
As Wemmbu began to try and formulate how this whole interaction was just some grandiose trap, Parrot spoke up. “Wemmbu, I’m sure you’re familiar with the mafia.” Wemmbu seemed to tense up at that. “Yeah…” He gave a curt response.
Parrot took that as his sign to continue. “They’ve been terrorizing the whole server. Forcing new players to throw an enderpearl into a stasis chamber so that they’re forever trapped.” Wemmbu was listening to the small bird explain, waiting for the moment he would suddenly reveal how this was all just a setup, and how 50 mafia members were outside ready to kill him.
And yet, it never came.
Parrot had finished his explanation of the mafia to Wemmbu, waiting to see if the other had any questions. In all honesty, Wemmbu already knew all of that. He just hadn’t expected Parrot’s words about wanting to take down the mafia to be true.
He had been waiting for some grand theatric betrayal, when truly, there never was one to begin with.
It felt nice.
It felt dangerous.
Wemmbu drew his attention away from Parrot and looked at the man across from him. He was taken aback a bit. Wifies was staring intensely at him. Like a butterfly under a microscope, being dissected by well-trained eyes. Pulling at every part of him, watching for any reaction of the sort to write down.
It sent a chill down his spine; making him sit up straighter. He needed to focus right now.
Mafia. Ashswag. Destroy.
That’s all that mattered at this moment.
The dragon hybrid took a deep breath before preparing to speak. “Okay so I get wanting to destroy the mafia, but where do I fit into all of this? Because my idea of destroying the mafia is going to their base with stacks of TNT and blowing it up. Then killing anyone left.” Destruction was all that played on the endling’s mind. If he couldn’t have peace, neither could they.
Parrot sat there with his face appalled at the reckless idea, but it was Wifies who spoke up first. “That plan is just straight suicide. What we need you to do is distract Clown while we kill Ash.” A steadiness flowed through Wifie’s words.
He took in those words before he responded. “If I see Clown I’m not distracting him-” “BRO, Wemmbu!” Parrot interrupted with an exasperated huff. “If you’re not here to help, then why come at all.”
Irritation clawed it’s way up to the dragons’ face, was the man not allowed to finish speaking. “If I see Clown I’m killing him. No distraction, no nothing. All there will be is me and his cold corpse.”
That seemed to stun both men into silence. “Umm yea, all that matters is that Clown isn’t there when we confront Ash. Whatever happens to Clown is your choice I guess…” Nervousness spilling into Parrot’s words near the end. He raised his eyes to meet Wemmbu’s and the sight shocked him.
Only now did Parrot notice how lifeless and dull were Wemmbu’s eyes. Like a black hole, once you got too close it would suck you in, pulling you deeper till you could no long escape, and as you fell in it would rip you to shreds.
Just looking into Wemmbu’s eyes gave Parrot a terrible sense of foreboding. He had never seen the dragon look like this. There had always been a spark in him, some scheme he was planning in the back of his mind that only he was allowed to know. They held a certain coldness in them, like if you got too close you’d get frostbite.
“Okay, so if I’m going to kill Clown then I’m gonna need a mace.” Wemmbu clarified. “So if we get you a mace you’ll distract Clown.” Parrot repeated just to make sure. “I mean that is what I said.” Annoyance creeping into Wemmbu’s voice. Wifies took that as an opportunity to voice a concern “Where would we even get a mace? As far as I know all the spawners for maces are destroyed.”
Parrot realized that would be a problem. He started to contemplate other ways to distract Clown since the mace seemed like a no go. That was when Wemmbu said something Parrot had yet to determine was either smart or extremely dumb.
“All diamond players have mace’s besides Flame. We could just kill one and take their mace. Only problem is that they’re hard to find.” Wemmbu said plainly, like the idea of killing a diamond player was that simple.
Parrot was starting to think it was insanity that had seconded Wemmbu, “I know a way to get a diamond player to come. Theres a certain thing you can do with a beacon to symbolize a civilization, a diamond player will definitely come if they see that. But do you really think the three of us can defeat a diamond player?” Suspicion lacing Parrots voice near the end.
“Bro trust, we got that.” Bravado boomed out the dragon’s voice.

To say the fight with the diamond player went bad would be an understatement. They set up a sand trap, yet for the first hour all they got were a no trim and an iron trim. Wemmbu was getting bored when the diamond trim finally showed up, they also brought a gold and iron player.
That was when everything went downhill. The trap that Parrot proposed ended up not working and they had to melee fight the mafia members. Parrot ended popping seven or eight times, honestly Wemmbu lost track after the fifth totem. Wifies held up a little better, popping three times. Wemmbu popped his totem four times, but to his defense he was fighting the diamond trim, so it only made sense he had to use a totem a couple of times; or so he says. If you asked Parrot, he would just claim that Wemmbu was trash, through there would never be any heat behind his words.
All that mattered to Wemmbu though was that he got the mace. It was a breach mace, not his preferred enchant, but he could make do.
He then went to fight Clown, leaving Wifies and Parrot in the dust. The fight was embarrassing to say the least.
He had forgotten that Ferre would most likely be there too, and just his luck, he was. He had quickly realized that he was not going to win a fight with the two of them. Which is what led him to now.
He was back to sitting in the meeting room, lip busted up from the fight earlier. Wifies was kind enough to help him though. Wifies was currently placing some kind of stitching tape on his lip, while Parrot was across the room pacing and scolding Wemmbu for going into a fight without a plan.
“Bro Wemmbu, I swear you have a death wish. Why would you go into a fight alone with no plan, much less a fight with Clown!” Stress permeated Parrot’s voice, his hands moving around in frantic pace.
The bird seemed to show genuine concern for the dragon. That’s what threw Wemmbu so off. Why would Parrot care so much? He had practically abandoned Parrot and Wifies after getting the mace; they should be angry at him! Well, he supposed that Parrot was angry, but not in the way Wemmbu expected. Wifies too, the man had simply helped heal Wemmbu’s wounds when he saw him, there was no sneer or bile in the man’s touch. All of it made no sense to him.
Wifies backed away from Wemmbu’s face after he finished fixing his lip, “You know we are a team, right? We work together; you don’t have to rush into fights by yourself, we can do it together.” Wifies had decided to take the gentler approach. Wemmbu felt like Parrot and Wifies were playing good cop bad cop, but not in a bad way.
It felt nice.
Parrot decided to look Wemmbu dead in the eyes this time as he talked. “Wemmbu, the next time you go into a fight we’re doing it together. I don’t care if you think you don’t need us. I know you’re strong, but we’re your friends; we’re going to help you.” Parrot said those words like they were final, and in a way they were. When Parrot set his mind to a goal, he always found a way to achieve it.
Friends, huh. So that was it. The word played in Wemmbu’s mind. So that was why Wifies and Parrot cared so much. He guessed it made sense. Parrot always fought tooth and nail for his friends, and Wifies just went along with whatever Parrot was doing. He just never would have guessed he landed himself in that category.
The only person he had considered a friend was Egg. Having someone think of him as such felt weird. He decided he liked it none the less. It made him feel warm inside, like when Egg was around. It was a dangerous feeling, but Wemmbu choose to ignore it for now.
Wemmbu took in the features of Parrots face, he was frowning; most likely from the stunt he pulled. That was when Wemmbu caught himself saying words he thought he’d never say. “I’m sorry.” Wemmbu was surprised the moment the words came out his mouth. Wifies and Parrot seem to hold the same level of shock. They had never heard the dragon apologize once, so it came as a surprise.
Parrot realized how meaningful the words must have been for Wemmbu to say them. “It’s fine bro. Just please don’t do that again.” A sigh coming out of Parrots mouth, a sign of defeat. “Let’s plan our next course of action.” Parrot was now rubbing his eyes. “Anything notable happen while you fought Clown that we should know?” Wifies took his turn to speak.
That was when an idea dawned on Wemmbu. “Okay so I have an idea and it will most likely work, but you won’t like it.” A shy grin made its way onto Wemmbu’s face, he could already hear Wifies and Parrots protests.
As Wemmbu recounted his new plan to the duo, horror slowly morphed onto Parrots face. Wifies was not much better, great disapproval on his face. “Wemmbu, do you hear how insane that plan is, anyone of us could die doing that! Especially Wifies!” The bird trying to reason with someone who was clearly a mad man. “That’s why it’ll work; they won’t expect it.” Wemmbu tried to explain. “Wifies back me up!” Wifies took in everything for a minute, pure astonishment racking his mind before he spoke up. “I mean I understand where you’re coming from Wemmbu, but it’s still extremely risky. I’m going to have to side with Parrot on this one.” A sigh of relief came from Parrot. “See Wemmbu, two against one. We are not doing it.” Parrot spoke as if an ultimatum, thing is Parrot almost always gets his way, but so does Wemmbu.

Wemmbu may have had to convince Parrot and Wifies for over an hour, but eventually he got his way. That’s why they were here now. Wifies in an obsidian box, Ferre and two gold trims by his sides, while Parrot and Wemmbu stood across from him.
The scene had sent flashbacks to the endling’s mind, memories of a certain angel friend and his untimely demise. He couldn’t dwell on it though, thinking about the past would only get him stuck.
He had to focus on now; the only reason Egg had died was because he was dumb and had rushed in without a plan. But this was different, they had a plan and he would make sure no harm came to Wifies or Parrot. He promised himself that and he would be sure to hold true to that promise.
Ferre was going to have no idea what hit him.
