Chapter Text
“But you'll look sweet, upon the seat, of a bicycle built for two”
Pomni sings into the darkness. She is resting against a pillow, looking up at the dim fairy lights Kinger hung up a while ago. Green, Purple and Yellow light is jumping all around the walls. Only some of Jax’s eyes are open. He was mostly resting, only a slight buzzing noise of electricity coming from his side of the tent. Nowadays the abstraction is sleeping most of the time. It avoids leaving the darkness, so it had nothing to do.
“You know” Pomni suddenly speaks up again. “I miss going on exciting adventures with you. I hate to say it-” She stops, chuckling a bit. “But in the end, I do miss someone playing the funny one in the group. Cause you were funny. I would have just loved to get to know, what else you could have been...”
Pomni gets quiet again, the tent filling with silence again.
“I’ll... let you be now... You’re- probably annoyed of me anyways.” The jester chuckles, rubbing her neck. She stands up and leaves the room, pulling the blanket at the entrance shut. It almost feels soft in her hand. She closes her eyes for a second, taking a deep breath.
Pomni then decides to go looking for the others. With the worlds open all the time, it's harder to predict where everyone is over the day. She finds Ragatha sitting on the couch, reading a book. Caine just started writing fantasy novels as a new hobby. They are filled with fanfiction tropes and unusual characters just like his NPC’s though. Gangle surely had her hand in there.
“Pomni, hey” Ragatha straightens up, once she notices Pomni sitting on the couch close by. She closes the book and lays it down.
“Hey Ragatha. Where is everyone?” She asks looking around.
“Oh, Zooble took Gangle out on a date. They told me, they wanted to celebrate Gangles 26th Birthday.” Pomni raises her eyebrow at that.
“Uh, wasn’t that like ages ago? I didn’t quite keep track of time, but I know that.” Ragatha chuckles behind her hand and nods.
“Yeah, I was confused at first too. Zooble said Gangle never celebrated it because she was at the hospital around that time. They obviously don’t know if today is her actual birthday though, but I think it’s sweet.” Pomni has to agree with her on that. She nods then look around again.
“What about Kinger or Caine?”
Ragatha shrugs. “I know Kinger wanted to go sailing. No idea about Caine though.”
Just as she says it, they hear a sudden plop sound behind Pomni. She looks behind her and scrambles back when she sees Caine right behind her with wide eyes.
“Did someone talk about me?” He asks and flies over the backrest to sit down with crossed legs. He smiles at them with his eyes. Ragatha chuckles behind her hand while Pomni let’s out a relieved breath. “It’s crazy that I still fall for that.”
She mutters and pushes her hat out of her eyes.
“Hey, Caine. Yeah, I was just asking what you were up to.” She explains. Caine’s eyes eyes light up and he sits up straighter.
“Well just now I was patiently waiting for Ragatha’s review of my new magical, thrilling, toe tickling book.” He says excited and sets both feet down on the floor, taping them against it in happy beat.
Ragatha hesitates confused. “But Caine you gave me the book surely 40 Minutes ago”
“47 minutes and 37 seconds ago, to be exact.” Caine chimes in. “38,39,40,41-“ he keeps counting and Ragatha stops him.
“Yeah, and you wrote 678 pages. I’m gonna need a lot of time more than this. You can do something else you know?”
Caine frowns a bit. “Yeah I know… but usually I’d write right now… and it's just so exciting!” He says and drums on his thighs with his hands.
“I could go for an adventure.” Pomni suggests. “Ragatha, what about you?”
The Rag-doll nods, quickly agreeing. “Yeah, I can use a break as well. Something to do outside preferably. What were you thinking of, Pomni?”
“Oh, uh-“ The jester shrugs a bit unsure. “I don’t know yet. Do you have any suggestions, Caine?”
The Ai nods enthusiastically. “Do I have suggestions? Pomni, you know I do.” He says excitedly, pushing himself up from the couch to float in front of both. He puts his left hand behind his back and the other up with his index finger held up.
“You could go for a walk in a cave filled with mystical, magical, salty Penguins and Crystals.-“ Caine starts and Pomni looks at Ragatha with a raised eyebrow.
“Salty Penguins?” She mouths to her friend who tries not to laugh while Caine is talking.
“Or you could feed goats on top of a chocolate mountain. The goats however-“
Suddenly in the middle of the sentence Caine freezes, staring off into the air. Pomni looks at Ragatha, who looks back at her, the same confused face on.
“Uh- Caine? You alright there?” Ragatha asks and Caine blinks once, shakes his head and his eyes focus back on them.
“Y-yeah, sorry I just remembered… something” Caine says unsure. “Did you decide for an adventure yet?” He asks.
“Well, feeding goats doesn’t sound all too bad… but are you sure you’re okay? You seem a bit-“ Ragatha started but Caine opened a portal to cut her off.
“Perfect, have fun my buttery biscuits!” He exclaims and pushes them through, closing the portal right after.
“Wait Caine, what did you want to say about the-“ Pomni starts, but the portal closes before she can finish the question. “Goats.” She says and sighs.
In front of her is a landscape of chocolate candy and she sees a small goat herd close.
“I’m surprised he didn’t tag along” Ragatha speaks up behind her. Pomni shrugs.
“Yeah, that was odd…”
