Even if the child was being kidnapped with full permission and to keep the child from suffering at the hands of a worse fate that the law itself refused to save her from.
It was selfish of her, to let Giovanni uproot her life and give it new meaning. But it was just so freeing, she was so excited, to finally live. But after the first week of freedom, she got scared. She shouldn’t have let Giovanni get involved. She should have bit her tongue and endured it, she should have stayed quiet and pretended everything was fine. She didn’t want Giovanni to throw away his life for hers.
