One of our most interesting findings yet! This scroll tells us about the legend of a ghost king and a god—yes, they're gay, obviously—who had been the main players at defeating the "Emperor of Heaven". This is the story of Crimson Rain Sought Flower, once known as the red calamitous ghost king and The God Pleasing Crown Prince—thrice ascended god.

"A-lian!" Shi Qingxuan called, even from afar he can already feel her boisterous energy. Xie Lian couldn't help but wince though—adjusting his hood and mask further into himself— he hadn't gone through all the trouble of losing his bodyguards just to get caught because Shi Qingxuan had shouted his name for all of China to hear.
Shi Qingxuan seemed to realize her mistake, biting her lips as he approach. "Sorry," She whispered. " I forgot how obsessive your fans could be of your whereabouts."
"And my bodyguards," Xie Lian sighed. "I finally manage to lose them after the third run around the block."
"Aiyah, Xie Lian!" Shi Qingxuan chastised, her fan smacking against his shoulder. "I keep telling you not to do that. What if you get into trouble?"
"Wouldn't be the first time." Xie Lian pouted. "I deserve at least this much, after all, they're going to be all over me tomorrow."
"The fansign?"
"Mn." Xie Lian nodded, leading the way toward their reserved restaurant. "After the stunt I pulled, they might not trust me to leave my home ever again, really."
"That's what you deserve!" She teased, her tongue poking out toward him.
Xie Lian affectionately pushed her by the shoulder. It wasn't like he was always this reckless, really, but between Fengxin and Pei Ming, both of them could be intense at times. He'd appreciate it if he could meet with his best friend without either of them tackling at least one passerby for merely inquiring about his next acting project. Xie Lian regard them both as his friends, he really did, but they were overprotective at best and overbearing at worst.
Shi Qingxuan was a famous fashion designer, most of her designs having already featured as a special collection for well-known brands. Lately she'd been busy with the Met Gala, several celebrities already gone ahead and personally commissioned her. Between his job and hers, it was hard enough for them to meet, let alone during one of their busier seasons.
So, yes, Xie Lian loved his friends/bodyguards, but he'd gladly make it up to them when the time comes.
As they approached the receptionist and informed her of their reservation—Xie Lian mentally praying it was one of those people that never pay attention to celebrity news—his eyes caught on several phones already up in the air. So much for that, he supposed.
"Tell me about your next project, A-lian!" Shi Qingxuan started when they were seated, their dishes ordered and written for.
"Well, I can't say much yet." He had their NDA to think of, and as much as he trusted Shi Qingxuan—he couldn't risk the potential of a lawsuit. "But it's definitely something I've never done before."
"Boo! What kind of a PR answer is that?"
"The one that was drilled into me after three years of media training." And it was true, as during the beginning of his career, he had a hard time keeping a tight lid over the information he could and couldn't share. It got him into trouble a few times, he thought ruefully, but eight years into this and he'd say he could manage himself better now. "Just wait another two months or so, the internet should be fun by then."
"You're killing me, A-lian!"

Shi Qingxuan
lol. yea sure.
True to Shi Qingxuan's claim, the internet had indeed—in her words—broken overnight, It seemed the news regarding he and Hua Cheng's upcoming drama were trending everywhere. Xie Lian wasn't much of a social media user, his account were all managed by his PR team so he'd try to stray clear from it regardless of what state his name was in.
Though judging by Ling Wen's chirpiness—that was an overly-exaggerated claim on his part, Ling Wen doesn't even smile—it seemed most of the reaction had been positive and he didn't doubt that the team would be planning some PR action for him soon enough.
Xie Lian found his mind straying to his acting partner—the love interest, Hua Cheng. He'd heard multiple rumours about him, of course. What he managed to gather were mostly about his looks, his heterochromatic eyes were a unique charm on its own—one, dark as the onyx sky and the other bright red as blood. Along with Xie Lian, he'd been one of the fans' favourite casting choice for what the legendary Crimson Rain Sought Flower could look like. While Xie Lian doubt it historically true, Hua Cheng's heterochromatic eyes had been an uncanny resemblance to the ghost king's described appareance. It had been one of the reasons why he'd been chosen.
Xie Lian could admit that the man was certainly charming in a roguish—mischievious way, not to mention talented. The man was twenty-two, exactly five years younger than Xie Lian, and had been in the acting industry for merely three years—yet the movies he starred in had already gotten him two oscars.
He hadn't met Hua Cheng personally, he didn't think they had the same audition room nor the same scheduele. It was a shame—Xie Lian wanted to get to know the man better considering they'd be partners for the rest of production. It was always important to get along with the love interests as they were detrimental for the characters' chemistry.
He remembered his first acting job—his first major role on the big screen, with an actress named Jian Lan. It had been fine at first and Jian Lan had been accommodating with him as the newbie, her experiences as a senior were precious to him. When he noticed Fengxin started having feelings for her though, it was hard to quell down the guilt of having to kiss Jian Lan even when all three of them knew it meant nothing.
The movie didn't suffer for it, thankfully, but the fans knew it had been an awkward kiss and some could even spot it through out the entire length of the movie.
Nowadays, Xie Lian mostly focused on fantasy and action drama, the public loved it when he starred in a wuxia and xianxia drama. They appreciated his stunts and fighting scenes—it was the one thing he was known best for. From what he gathered, it seemed "Eternal Faith" wouldn't focus much on the action side of it, as much as the romantic side.
He was fine with either, but it couldn't be helped that he'd get nervous. Not to mention, it was the first time he'd gotten a man as the love interest.
…
Xie Lian buried his head in his hands. The love interest, a man. What had he been thinking? He barely kissed any girls on a daily basis, let alone a man!
It wasn't like he minded, he knew where his interest lied—or didn't. Either men or women, he didn't think he'd care either way. He'd never felt that way about anyone, after all. Acting was acting, it wouldn't do good to put personal feelings into it. He had said so in that interview months ago!
So why…
His heart was pounding terribly fast this time, his cheeks uncomfortably warm and even his ears were tingling. It couldn't possibly be his pre-production jitters—he hadn't felt this way since he was nineteen years old.
His eyes landed on his phone, the picture of Hua Cheng on full display. It did nothing to quell the anxiety he felt in his heart, instead, it only enhanced it.
This is bad.
He could only hope Hua Cheng was able to lead, Xie Lian didn't think he'd be of any help in that regard.
