Chapter Text
The captain and security guard continued to stare at Black and Cyan in shock. They seemed to both be intact, thankfully not covered in their own flesh and blood.
Black carefully put down the box of Ore +, and stopped and stared back, a look of concern replacing a previous look of boredom.
“Uh, hey? What are you two doing down here?” They asked.
Words raced through Purple’s mind, desperately trying to piece together an explanation. Drops of sweat formed on their forehead.
Before they could say something, Red began to speak.
“Purpleeeee! You were showing me something strange you found on the cameras!” said Red, smiling and putting their arm around Purple in an incredibly awkward and unnatural way. “You know, the thing!”
“Oh yeah those um, impostors. Yeah.” replied Purple in a stilted voice with a grimace. They felt their stomach tighten.
“Impostors…?” Cyan asked, their face tilting slightly to the left. Red quickly grabbed Purple’s hand and sprinted out of the room.
“Ohwelllooksliketheyrenotinhereletsgosomewhereelse-“
The two crewmates ran up and down the entire interior of the ship. They could hear and see that all the other members of the Skeld’s crew were alive.
“-okay well how about: one, two, three, truffle salt! Yeahhhhhh isn’t it aMAZing-“
“-this Ore can give you the strength for emotional confrontation-“
“Cyan, it’s a bunch of space rocks with nothing interesting inside-“
“AUGH! DAMN THOSE #%*$@ GREMLINS I’LL GET YOU NEXT TIME-“
“-Hellooooo? This VERY IMPORTANT wavier needs signing and it needs signing NOW-“
Red and Purple went back to the captain’s room and found the calendar they had overlooked before. It contained things that calendars normally would have like holidays, deadlines, and birthdays.
But it also confirmed that Purple and Red had been flung back in time. Two weeks before unpaid intern Green (and White too) had even stepped on board.
“Red, we’ve actually traveled back in time! You know what this means, right?” Purple asked, their face serious.
Red’s face went blank as Purple grabbed them by their shoulders. Something about Purple just made their heart stop working properly.
“We could…cancel our streaming service subscriptions?” Red asked dumbly.
Purple sighed. “No! We could save the crew!” Their excitement at this revelation quickly turned into nervousness however. “I-I don’t know what we do after that but I-we can at least try to protect them!”
Purple’s face turned pale, and after lifting their hands off of Red, began to anxiously pace back and forth. They had absolutely no idea how or where to begin with a mission like this.
“Purple? Purps?”
Purple paced a bit faster, their mind trapped in a cycle of what-ifs.
“Purple I’m sure, no, positive we can do better than last time-“
They tugged and pulled at their ponytail, feeling their breathing starting to close up. “Oh god, this is impossible-“ They whispered to themselves.
“Purple.”
“Everyone’s gonna think we’re nuts if we tell them-“
“Purple.”
“Can they-we-us-are we even competent enough-“
“VIOLET!” Red shouted. Purple turned around at the sound of their government name.
“You’re-You’re pulling your hair out.” Red pointed out. Red was never the best at comforting. “And we can figure out a plan, we still have a few days after all-“
Before Purple got the chance to respond, someone else had made their presence known by clearing their throat.
“Apologies for eavesdropping, but I couldn’t help but wonder what exactly is happening here.” Blue said, coming out of the shadows.
