Zonic took off his helmet and turned to properly observe the titles with each image, and his eyes widened. “It appears the nicknames given correspond to the title of an image on screen,” he states.
Movie gasps and rushes to the TV and points at the screen. “You’re right! Look, Boom is in this picture, and the title is Sonic Boom,” he points out.
“I guess that explains the names, but why is my nickname not Prime but that Sonic is?” He points to Prime and turns to Zonic. “Didn’t you say I was Sonic Prime, the one true Sonic of all dimensions?” He questions, lifting a brow.
Everyone stares at Archie Sonic; Classic narrows his eyes.
“I did, but I honestly don’t know, Archie,” Zonic shrugs. Archie's jaw drops at that. “We might as well use the names given and not confuse others. I would usually refer to Sonics by their zone’s name, but, if I’m to be honest, out of all the Sonics in the multiverse I have been watching, I’ve never seen Boom, Prime, IDW, Movie, or Friends on my monitors before.”
There is a pause.
“Lucky…” Scourge grumbles under his breath as he takes this chance while everyone is distracted to sneak off the couch.
“What do you mean by watching us?” Fleetway questions
“You do know how creepy that sounds, right?” SatAM adds.
Movie and Boom smartly decide not to say anything on the topic of spying.
“My job is to monitor all realities to maintain balance, patrolling the multiverse to prevent zones from being overrun, and only allowing people to appear in other Zones when they are needed,” Zonic explains. “And it’s easier to watch other worlds by focusing on Sonics.”
Nicky was now even more curious as to why he was here. “Does that mean you’ve seen me?” he asks Zonic curiously.
“Yeah, I’ve seen you once or twice. But mostly I’ve only seen your Sonic,” Zonic answers. “Your world isn't a high-priority watch, so I hadn’t really paid much attention to it, as nothing is a threat to the multiverse there, so it’s filed under safe, so I only need to check on it once every few years.“
Nicky nods, still a little confused about why he was here and not his Sonic.
Movie dashes over to Boom. “Remote, please.” Boom hands over the remote to Movie.
“We should totally watch me first.” Movie says, moving back to his beanbag. “It will be so cool seeing me save the day with my brothers on screen.”
“You have siblings, too?” Underground asks.
“Yes, but I don’t want to spoil anything, so shh!” he hushes.
“Someone's excited.” Modern chuckles.
“Why wouldn’t I be? It’s a good opportunity to relive an adventure and show off how awesome I am.” Movie says excitedly while pointing a thumb to himself.
Classic signs something to Modern, who nods back.
“You’re right, Mini-Me. It would be interesting to see different adventures.” Modern agrees.
Movie moves around the display with the remote and finds his face. “This must be it,” he guesses as he clicks it. Once he does, a display for ‘Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)’ is shown. The cover image is of Movie running forwards in a blurred, all-blue background.
“How come it just says your name and not your nickname?” Archie asks, still confused about the names.
“I think it’s because of how long it is.” Boom suggests standing up. “See how it shows the run time below the image. We will be watching a movie,” he says, making his way to the kitchen.
“Where are you going?” asks Prime
“To get popcorn, obviously.” Boom answers, “If we’re watching a film, we better do it properly. Anyone else want some?”
A while later, after everyone got some popcorn, chili dogs, pizza, snacks, and drinks, and after returning to their seats, Movie pressed a button on the remote, clicking his picture, and the movie began.
[The film opens up with a reflection of rings falling from a night sky. The camera moves up, showing a lake and a mountain, as the rings glide across the surface of the lake, chiming. Music began to play. The rings fly over to the mountain, with the sun setting, forming an arch over the mountain. The words “Paramount” fly into frame and stop at the mountain peak, perfectly under the arch.
Classic tapped on Modern’s leg, getting his attention. When Modern looked at him, he made a gesture. “Classic is—” TV suddenly paused, which caught Modern off guard for a second. “Uh, you didn’t have to pause the movie just because I started speaking, Movie,” Modern said apologetically.
Movie looked up at him from the remote. “Uh, I didn’t. I think the TV just paused on its own,” Movie explained.
“Oh, strange but ok. Anyways, Classic said that the mountain was beautiful and probably has an incredible view, and he’s right; I totally agree.” Modern said.
“You’re right. I’d like to run around there and take in the view.” Movie says, dreamly.
“Me too,” Prime agreed.
“What’s a Paramount?” Nicky asks, shyly.
“Don’t worry about it, kid,” Boom says. “Film studios normally put their logos before a movie starts to show off that they made it.”
Nicky nods in understanding.
“Can we just get to the movie so we can hurry up and get out of here?” Fleetway demanded.
Just as he says that, the movie continues.
Then a pixelated Sonic running through Green Hills was shown.
“Woah! I guess you appear in the movie, too, Mini-Me,” Modern says delightedly.
Fleetway groans and puts his head in his hands, as not even a minute has passed since his demand.
Classic tilts his head, making a confused expression. “Why am I shown when I’ve never gone to Movie’s world before?” he thought.
“How do you know it’s Classic?” SatAM asks, confused.
“Yeah, how do you know it’s not one of us in the room?” Archie suggests.
“Well, it’s…” Modern didn’t know how to respond as he could tell it was just him. “...gut feeling?” is all he settled on as he shrugged.
Classic nods agreeing with Modern.
Archie and SatAM decided to let it go, and the movie continues.
Zooming out more and more videos appeared, some of Sonic,
“There I am again,” Modern thought to himself.
others of strange and unfamiliar scenes. Zooming out more the videos formed the SEGA, with the music crescendoing with what sounded like a chair singing the name “SEGA”. The Original Film logo is presented on a red background in metallic blue text before fading out to black.]
The screen stays on the fade to black for a while too long.
“Ugh! What’s taking so long?” Adventures asks, already antsy.
“I don’t know,” Movie says as he moves the pointer cursor a bit, showing that the movie has been paused. “Oh, the movie paused.”
“Why though?” Boom asks, “We’re all here, and no one talked.”
“Not all of us,” Archie says, getting up from his seat and moving towards the hallway.
A rattling noise could be heard from the hall before suddenly two blurs rushed around the room. One green, one blue.
“Zonic, help me out here! You must have some handcuffs at least or some rope!” Archie called out as he chased Scourge around the place. Zonice got up to help Archie.
“I’m done,” Fleetway says, zooming his way to the hall to try to go to his room to no avail.
“I’m going to help them out; my legs need a stretch." Adventures says, looking for an excuse to run around.
“There’s no way they had really tried to escape with how comfortable they look to follow some mysterious beings' instructions!” Scourge yells his accusation.
“I did!” Boom yells back.
“Really guys, the movie hasn’t even started.” Movie says with a little pout. Nicky pats his back kindly to comfort him.
“Even with all this space, I’d say there’s already barely any room around here,” Boom says, feeling slightly trapped.
Suddenly, with a blinding light, everyone who was up is blinked back to their seat except for Scourge and Fleetway in the middle of the floor, tied up with a strange-looking glowing rope. The screen glitches a bit with the words “WATCH THE MOVIE!!!” appearing.
“Finally!” Movie says, sitting upright as everyone is a little shocked by what the mysterious being just did.
“Have they just been watching us?” Archie thought while he and Zonic shared a glance.
[The scene fades in as the camera zooms in on the city and two blazing specks of light dash all over the place as one shoots lasers at the other. We then see an enemy aircraft flying throughout while it's chasing Sonic, who is running from the pursuer. We see full closeups of Dr. Robotnik in his craft
“Pause!” Boom exclaimed. “Is that Eggman!? With hair! Movie, I can’t believe your Eggman has hair!” Boom laughs.
“Is that so strange?” Movie asks
“Yes and no,” Zonic answers
“Your Eggman lost a lot of weight, huh.” Boom adds.
“Uh-” Movie began.
“Don’t spoil, let the movie play,” IDW says.
and Sonic as he runs. The scene freezes after an explosion with Sonic barely missing it]
“Again!?” Underground asks, slightly annoyed, looking toward the middle of the room at where Scourge and Fleetway were sitting with grumpy or disinterested faces.
Sonic (narrating): So, I know what you're thinking.
“Thank Chaos,” Modern says in relief, not wanting chaos to break out in the room again.
“Are you narrating?” Boom asks Movie.
“Yes.” Movie answers.
“Did you know you were being filmed?” Nicky asked
“No, I most certainly wasn’t aware.” Movie explains.
“Then who are you talking to?” Prime asks
Movie chose not to answer, letting the movie continue.
Why is that incredibly handsome hedgehog being chased by a madman with a mustache from the Civil War?
[The scene unfreezes and Sonic continues running and dodging laser blasts from Dr. Robotnik, that unfortunately hits a couple cars.]
Sonic: Well, to be honest, it feels like I've been running my whole life. Is this too much? Am I going too fast? It's kind of what I do.
A few felt like they could relate to what Movie said.
You know what? Let's back up.
[Sonic mimics a rewind sound effect as the movie rewinds to the start.]
[Scene: Sonic's Island, day]
Friends makes an exaggerated sign about how beautiful and cool the island looks, with Classic agreeing.
[Throughout the narration, we see various shots of Sonic zipping through the terrain and land of his island]
Sonic: This is the island where I'm from.
“Quite the nice place,” SatAM says in awe.
“It sure was.” Movie says, sadly, with Modern, Prime, SatAM, Underground, and Archie picking up a deeper meaning in the sad tone.
["Paramount Pictures Presents" appears in white letters and disappears]
Sonic: It had everything.
["In Association with Sega Sammy Group" appears in white letters and disappears]
Sonic: Sandy beaches, cascading waterfalls, public access to loop-de-loops. And I never had to catch a school bus because I could run across the entire island in less than two seconds.
“That sounds cool,” Nicky comments while looking at Movie in awe.
Movie simply shows off a proud smile.
["An Original Film Production" appears in white letters and we see a closeup of a younger-looking Sonic running across the terrain as the text disappears]
Sonic: Also, there was no school.
“Oh,” Nicky says to himself, seeing yet again more differences.
I know, pretty sweet island, right?
[Young Sonic runs across a ramp and shoots up into the air]
Young Sonic: Yeah!
“You were adorable,” Boom states with Prime nodding in agreement.
Movie blushed a bit. “I was not.”
[Young Sonic lands back on the ground and continues zipping through his island]
Sonic: I was born with extraordinary powers and was told to keep them secret.
“Why?” Boom asks, a little confused.
“Speed like ours isn’t meant to be hidden.” Adventures brags.
“It’s probably to keep him safe,” Underground states.
["A Marza Animation Planet/Blur Studio Production" appears in white letters]
Sonic: And like any kid, I did the exact opposite.
Movie lowers his ears, knowing what’s about to happen soon.
[Young Sonic runs up some bridges to a small house. He curls into a ball, rolls into the house, jumps up, and playfully bumps Longclaw while she is sleeping, causing her to wake up]
Sonic: That's Longclaw. She took care of me.
“She looks cool,” Nicky says in slight awe.
“That’s cause she is.” Movie says profoundly
OVA closed his eyes for a moment, remembering another owl that was bothering him earlier before he got here.
[Young Sonic lands on the ground, now out of ball form, and he is laughing happily] She was basically Obi-Wan Kenobi, If Obi-Wan Kenobi had a beak and ate mice.
Friends had a confused look and turned to sign to Classic, who just shrugged.
“You’re going to be making a lot of references, huh.” Boom states.
“Yup!” Movie declares. “Sorry if you guys don’t get it.”
“It’s okay,” Zonic says. “We can use context clues and easily see that she is a guardian and teacher to you.”
Longclaw: Sonic, someone could have seen you.
Young Sonic: No one saw me. I'm too fast!
“Not fast enough.” Movie thought to himself.
And, I wanted to bring you this.
[Young Sonic pulls out a flower he picked from the outside, which makes Longclaw happy. However, Longclaw notices a tribe of Echidnas in the trees, aiming their weapons at the duo.
“Echidnas!?” IDW asks, surprised.
“Wh-why are they aiming their weapons at you?” Nicky asks, concerned.
“It will probably be explained later. I don’t want to spoil.” Movie said, not wanting to answer. He kept his eyes on the screen and focused on every detail about Longclaw.
She then shuts the door and grabs Sonic to protect him]
Longclaw: Get down!
[The Echidnas fire their arrows from their bows and they hit almost every corner of Longclaw's house, with one arrow breaking the window, barely missing Longclaw, and passing through Sonic's flower, pinning it to the wood floor]
Sonic: Turns out, with great power comes great power-hungry bad guys. And I led them right to us.
[The Echidnas climb through the windows and prepare to attack, but Sonic and Longclaw escape through the back window as the Echidnas continue firing arrows at them. Eventually, Pachacamac fires his arrow and it strikes Longclaw, knocking her and Sonic out of the sky and sending them plummeting to the ground. A wounded Longclaw gets up and puts a very concerned Sonic on his feet and he looks up at her]
Nicky was already in tears.
Longclaw: Listen carefully, Sonic. You have a power unlike anything I have ever seen, and that means someone will always want it. The only way to stay safe is to stay hidden.
[Longclaw takes a ring from her satchel and tosses it, which opens a portal to a forest on another planet at night]
Longclaw: This world is on the far side of the universe. You should be safe there.
Young Sonic: I don't want to go without you!
“Go with him, go with him” was a thought shared by some in the room
Longclaw: You must. [Hands Sonic her satchel of Rings] These Rings will be your most important possession.
[Longclaw gasps as she hears the Echidna tribe getting closer, then she looks back down at Sonic]
Longclaw: If you're ever discovered, use one. [Gently pushes Sonic closer to the portal with her wing] Never stop running. Now, go!
[Sonic runs through the portal and looks back, horrified, as Longclaw prepares for attack]
Young Sonic: Longclaw!
[He starts running back, Longclaw looks back at Sonic one last time as the Echidnas get even closer]
Longclaw: Goodbye, Sonic.
Underground had to take a moment to breathe, remembering his own parents/caretakers.
Young Sonic: No!
[Before Sonic can get back to Longclaw, the portal disappears in slow-motion]
Young Sonic: No!!
[Sonic now realizes that he is by himself and must do what Longclaw instructed. The Sonic The Hedgehog main logo for the film appears, reading out Sonic in bright blue lining and The Hedgehog in a red square underneath and the scene changes]
The film had paused before the scene fully changed as Movie was slightly crying watching this again. He soon found himself in the middle of a group hug; X was more so patting his back. Boom and OVA, however, were still in shock by what they saw as they sat frozen in their seats; Scourge was just staring at the screen still tied up on the floor, and Fleetway was also tied up but was sending Movie a look of solidarity.
