Chapter Text
Mirri rushed to the infirmary, quickly opening a cabinet and grabbing a bag of ambrosia. Kayla looked up from Travis’ limp arm, frowning. “Where’re you going?”
“Emergency. Will can explain.” Mirri said, barely looking back as she hurried back out of the building. Kayla blinked, looking over at Travis, who shrugged and immediately winced.
“Oh, sorry. Don’t move your arm.” Kayla said, grimacing slightly.
Mirri raced towards the courtyard lined with cabins, stopping at the golden one with a big number 7 on it. In front of the cabin, a pale boy wearing a brown aviator jacket stood. When Mirri reached him, he smiled. “You ready?”
“Yup.” Mirri replied, slightly out of breath. Nico held out his arm and Mirri placed a hand on it. The next second, they were engulfed by the cold, dark shadows. The pair arrived in the overgrown garden of the tall, lopsided and wonky house in front of them. Mirri shivered, trying to throw off the cold feeling that seemed to make it’s way under her skin whenever she shadowtraveled. Nico stumbled. Mirri swore underneath her breath and pulled out the bag of ambrosia she took from the infirmary.
She took out a pre-broken piece and handed it to Nico. “Here, eat this.” Nico took it without any complaint. Once he had finished it, she handed him a chocolate bar. Nico stared at her.
“You too?” He asked, surprised.
“What?” Mirri replied, confused.
“Will carries around KitKats, you carry around these.”
“Well everyone in Cabin Seven has their own chocolate. Will has KitKats, Austin has Hershey’s Kisses, Kayla has Cadbury and I have TimTams. Eat it. It’ll make you feel better.” Nico shook his head, but unwrapped the chocolate anyways. Mirri took out her phone and texted the group chat.
Chaos
eclaire: we’re here
ginger ginger weasley weasley: are you at the front door?

eclaire: yes Nicos had some ambrosia and is now eating chocolate
Glowstick: ok good
The door opened and Mirri looked up from her phone. She smiled at the freckled ginger standing in the doorway. “Hey Ginny.” Ginny smiled, though it looked a bit strained.
“Hey Mirri. And I’m guessing that’s Nico? It’s nice to meet you.” Nico gave her a small smile but didn’t respond. “You better come in. Mum doesn’t know that you’re here so you’ll have to be careful. She should be in the kitchen so we can hopefully avoid her.”
“If worse comes to worse I-” Nico started, but Mirri cut him off.
“No. Absolutely not. You are not using any more of your powers.”
“But-”
“No. If you do you’ll pass out. You just shadow travelled across an entire ocean Nico.” Mirri said sternly. “Also, if you use anymore of your powers in the next hour or so, Will is so going to kill us.” She added. Ginny raised an eyebrow but didn’t question it. She could ask questions later, right now Hermione was her first priority.
“Come on.” She said, beckoning the pair through the door. “I’ll lead the way.” The two demigods followed her through the home, occasionally glancing curiously at the wizarding objects they hadn’t seen before. The three of them climbed up the stairs to the attic, managing to avoid the adults in the house. Ginny pushed open the door and they entered the room.
On one of the beds, Hermione sat shaking, head in her hands. Mirri cursed under her breath. “She’s in shock.” She murmured, nodding quickly to Harry and Ron as she hurried over to the girl, Nico and Ginny hot on her tail. “Nico sit down.” The aforementioned boy rolled his eyes, but sat down, crosslegged on the wooden floor anyways.
Mirri approached Hermione slowly, kneeling in front of her. “Hey.” She said softly. “It’s Mirri. Can I touch you?” She didn’t respond. “Ok. Just try to focus on my voice then, alright? Breath in for four with me, one, two, three, four.” Hermione’s breathing stayed the same. Quick, sharp breaths. Mirri frowned, but kept going.
“And hold for seven. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven. And finally out for eight. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.” Still, Hermione’s breathing remained the same. Mirri’s frown deepened. “Hermione, if you can hear me, can you move your hand or arm in anyway?” Nothing happened.
“If you can hear me, can you move your leg?” Still nothing. “And your head. Can you move that in anyway?” Hermione still hadn’t responded and Mirri was getting worried. “Alright. If you can hear me can you make any noise at all?” After thirty seconds of silence Mirri stood up.
“What’s wrong with her?” Ron asked immediately.
“She’s in a magical state of shock.” Mirri replied.
“So fix it!” Harry exclaimed. Mirri nodded.
“Of course, that’s what I’m trying to do. Does anyone have fire?”
The wizards looked at her like she was crazy. “Why would you need fire?” Harry asked quizzically.
“To make an offering to the gods.” Mirri said matter of factly. “Or, well one god in particular.”
It was then when Nico spoke up from the floor. “Can’t you do magic?”
Harry shook his head. “It’s against the rules. You can’t do magic outside of school until you’re of age.”
Nico frowned, turning to Mirri. “You do magic all the time with Lou Ellen.” Mirri grinned sheepishly.
“Well the ministry can’t exactly trace my magic back to Camp, so I get away with it.” Mirri frowned. “Would that work here?” The other wizards looked at her, confused.
“As in, would the magical traces of everyone who’s of age in this house cover mine?” Mirri clarified. Ginny was nodding.
“Yes, I think so.” She said and that was enough confirmation for Mirri. She took out her wand and a chocolate bar, muttering a quick Incendio underneath her breath and promptly dropping the chocolate into the fire.
“That’s not going to burn.” Harry said. Mirri simply raised an eyebrow before turning back to the quickly burning chocolate and whispering a prayer to Apollo. Once she was finished she extinguished the flame and tucked her wand into the back pocket of her jeans, striding back over to where Hermione was sitting. Placing a hand on Hermione’s shoulder, she closed her eyes and began to softly sing.
“What’s she doing?” Ron asked, glancing wearily at the two girls.
“Dunno.” Harry said, equally as weary.
“Don’t distract her.” Nico replied sharply. “You’ll see soon enough.”
Just after he said that, Mirri began to slightly glow, her eyes squeezed shut in concentration. After a minute or two of this, the wizards staring at Mirri in a mix of fascination and weariness and Nico, who had scooched closer to the two girls, Hermione gasped, head snapping upwards. Mirri stumbled backwards, almost falling before being caught by Nico.
“Thanks.” She said, breathless. Nico gave her a look.
“Eat some ambrosia. Don’t be a hypocrite.” Mirri snorted but took out a piece of ambrosia from the bag, nibbling on it while assessing Hermione, who was now crowded by Harry, Ron and Ginny.
“How’re you feeling?” Mirri asked Hermione, concern painting her face. Hermione looked at her in surprise, only just realising that the two demigods were standing only a stones throw away.
“I- Yes. I suppose so.” Hermione replied shakily. Mirri nodded, though she was frowning. She took out another TimTam and threw it at her.
“Eat this.” Mirri said, “It’ll help.” Hermione caught the chocolate and unwrapped the bar without question. Ginny was looking at her, amused.
“What?” Mirri asked, slightly defensive.
“You’re like Professor Lupin.” Ginny said. Mirri looked surprised.
“Oh! Thank you, but how?” Mirri said, flattered.
“He made us eat chocolate to make us feel better too.” Harry said, from next to Hermione. A look of understanding flittered across Mirri’s face, before she nodded.
“It’s always chocolate.” Nico muttered. Mirri simply smirked at him, while the wizards looked at him in confusion.
“We have a lot of explaining to do.” Mirri said, eyes sparkling.
