Chapter Text
Of course she never left the walls without her incense, perfumes and candle and lighter so she was prepared to try to get close enough to touch them. The entire time she was just out of range should the zombie try to swipe at her. They had been kind of wandering when she found them and with the flower fields they walked she assumed they were a bloomed.
It was a cold truth when they weren't but Lizzie knew she could save them. For now though she packed up her things and started walking home.

“Where have you been missy?” Scar said while Grian shook his head disapprovingly. Some flowers came loose and floated through the air almost menacingly. They were shades of purple now, something that only seemed to happen in Winter.
“Well I’m sorry I was out doing what you asked!” she huffed back.
“And did you find anything? Anything useful?” Grian asked coldly. Lizzie knew he didn't mean to be mean but Grian was always a bit more explosive when he bloomed but before he was even a Florist he was always kind and gentle. Side effects if Lizzie had to guess.
“As a matter of fact I did! And I'll be going back out tomorrow to confirm it. Do one of you want to come along?” her tone was triumphant and as Scar and Grian shared amused looks Grian volunteered.
“Don’t wanna let you go back into danger without backup missy.” Grian chuckled and took her bag to hang up.
“Now go and rest a bit. Or just hang. You’ll need some rest for tomorrow and there isn't much to do for the rest of the night except watch duty.” Scar said and Lizzie stuck out her tongue as she ran off to her favourite spot.
It was so boring in the regular spots to watch for danger but with her spot she could see far and wide, out into the sandy wasteland of the desert and a bit into the nearby clusters of shrubbery that eventually led to the woods.
Her little corner, that she had to squeeze through an alleyway to get through, was so hidden not even Scar and Grian knew where it was. It was her place for mixing perfumes, for working on crochet and embroidery, for sewing and for general peace and quiet.
And it was at the very edge of town, where the walls were the perfect height for nailing things in, for hanging stuff up and for practicing climbing.
Sand covered books lay on a couple shelves that she had on the back wall of her hideout. Her diary being hidden among them. Pictures littered the walls and a rug that she haggled for lined the bottom of it. The rug was an array of pinks and greens that seemed to swirl in mesmerising patterns.
Her pot plants that lay in one corner seemed as healthy as always and the soft yellow string lights that hung above her gave the perfect ambiance for night time activities. Speaking of which, the sun was about to set and if you knew Lizzie then you would know she never missed a good sunset.
She climbed the supports she nailed in a while ago to the top of the wall. Her little corner was in the western corner of Lilac and so there was nothing to obscure her view of the shimmering of the sand as nightfall sat in, as the stars started to peek out, as the moon awoke and said goodnight to all.
Another perfect sunset. Another perfect day.
When Lizzie got out her gazillion blankets she needed to keep warm in the frigid Lilac winters and the pillows she adored squashed into her face she started to drift off. Her fairy lights were now switched off and so she fell asleep to the stars shining softly onto her face. That night her dreams would be plagued with visions of that redhaired zombie and Lizzie didn't mind at all.
