Chapter Text

"But don't blame me if you get sick." Those were very wise words from Marc. Why, you might ask?

Vale wakes up with his throat feeling sore, his whole body feeling as cold as ice, and last but not least, a migraine that makes him unable to move his whole body, if he does, he might just run to the bathroom and puke since he's nauseous. Additionally, his whole body was shivering. It felt so bone-chilling in the room, as he would be convinced that someone had thrown into a freezer.

'Ah, I'm fucked this time.' Vale thinks out loud in his mind. He should've listened to Marc yesterday. Now he's the one who's sick. Did Marc pull like some type of uno reverse on him? Or did he probably curse Vale to get sick cause of what happened yesterday? Maybe he should've tried stayed away from Marc. What the hell is wrong with him? Marc was just trying to help out but he refused to listen. Vale feels like a petty rebellious teenager that refuses to listen to his mother.

Argh... Where on earth is Marc anyways? Vale sits up and places a hand to feel if there's someone sleeping next to him, and to his surprise, the answer is no. Evidently, there is no one beside him. However, he keeps ruffling the sheets, just to ensure that Marc is gone.

Oh no.

Oh no.

Now that Marc is gone, how is he supposed to take care care of himself? Tears start to well up in his eyes, he isn't usually emotional like this and he doesn't usually overthink like this. But anxiety crawls up on his skin and bones, he feels petrified at the thought that Marc is gone.

Gone.

Forever.

Forever and ever.

Was it because of his actions in the past? He had already apologised long ago. Was Marc plotting a revenge all along? Just to make him feel like this? More tears start welling up in his eyes, threatening to spill out right away. No, no, no, this felt so so wrong. Did the sun rise from the west today? Everything felt so, so wrong. All of this felt like a kick to his balls, as it felt like one of his rivals had kicked him in the balls and then threw him into a freezer to let him die in there. It feels so miserable.

Vale couldn't hold it in anymore. Tears start falling out from his eyes. He uses the duvet to wipe it off, trying not to show any signs of weakness.

"No, no, no, stop crying you bastard, why the fuck are there even tears in my eyes? Get the fuck out of my eyes please" Vale pleads himself, and his throat still hurts so so much. He continues wiping off his tears, and he feels so fucking fatuous right now, like an idiot, crying for help, which he shouldn't be doing as of right now.

This disaster happening all in a day is making him overwhelmed. He gets so overwhelmed to a limit where he feels so lightheaded and unwell. It feels like he could faint.. any.. moment.. now...

Vale feels his vision go black and his body going slack.

Soon, a click can be heard from the door. Marc enters the room with his eyes closed, and lets out a faux scream, which comes out as a whisper "Vale!! I'm back!"

Marc then opens his eyes. To his surprise, he finds Vale, who has passed out completely in the bed with tears on the duvet.

Fuck.

Oh no.

Oh no.

Marc approaches Vale's body and shakes him mercilessly, as if trying to wake him up. "Vale, please, please wake up, what am I supposed to do without you?" Marc's voice wavers, tears start streaming down his eyes as he panics.

'Fuck, why didn't I enter the room earlier? All this could've been prevented!' Marc scolds himself. He feels a rush of melancholy crawling onto him. It's all his fault. Why. Why. Why?!

'Breathe, Marc, breathe, calm down and check his pulse rate first, then call the ambulance,' Marc's mind tells himself to calm down.

Marc places his index and middle finger on Vale's pulse point on the neck. He feels a pulse. 'Yes, he's alive,' Marc celebrates in silence. However, the pulse is slow.

'Alright, I definitely have to call the ambulance first.' Marc thinks again, then shuffles through the bed to find a cell phone.

Vale wakes up in... somewhere. He's not sure where's he's currently at, but he can feel a tube connecting to his hand. "Ah, it seems like he's finally waking up. Hello Mr Rossi, could you please tell me how you're feeling currently?" There's a guy with a white coat with a stethoscope around his neck.

Oh.

Vale's in the hospital. And there's a doctor in front of him. He rubs his eyes a bit, and then responds with a "I feel good... yeah."

"Alright then, very well. I'll leave the room to some time for you two now." The doctor states - wait, who's the doctor now? - and he exits the room.

Wait. Did the doctor just say 'you two'? Oh, right. If he's in the hospital now, that must mean that someone sent him here. Vale looks to the right and spots Marc sitting there.

Huh.

Weird.

Didn't Marc like, leave him a moment ago? Is this a dream? Or did he get some type of memory loss. Maybe alzheimers? Wait. Why is he saying that he's old himself?

"Hey there, Vale," Marc starts with a single sentence to disturb the peace.

Vale blinks. Once. Then twice. Is Marc Marquez really in front of him? Huh. Maybe they broke up and got back together? All this is so, so confusing to Vale right now.

Vale raises his right hand up. *Slap!* There's a red hand imprint on Marc's left cheek. Vale had just slapped Marc on the face. Ouch, that seemed like it hurt.

"What. The. Flying. Fuck." Marc curses out, placing one of his hands on his cheek to feel the burn. What do you mean Vale slapped him on the cheek for no damn reason at all?

Vale could see how hurt Marc was in his eyes, and that's when he realises it. Fucking hell. Why would he do that? What is wrong with him?

"W-wait, no. I'm so sorry. I-I didn't mean to do t-that, I swear," Vale apologises. Surely that isn't enough. Vale didn't mean to slap Marc in the face, it was just an instinct.

Vale raises his hand once again to caress Marc's left cheek. However, Marc backs away from Vale's hand, denying his touch, he's afraid that Vale would slap him once again.

"Marc, please I can expl-" Before Vale could continue his explanation, he felt a hot burn on his cheek. Marc just slaps him back.

That's.. karma I guess.

The silence between them is deafening. They are staring at each other in silence for the past 10 minutes now.

Until, Marc's arms finally give up and drop down. Marc collapses on Vale's chest.

"I'm sorry, I mean it." Vale apologises again.

"No, no, I'm sorry too, I could tell you were a bit startled, I shouldn't have slapped you too." Marc apologises too, regretting his actions from earlier.

Vale uses one of his hands to card through Marc's hair and the other hand to push Marc up a bit so that they're closer to each other.

"What year is it, by the way?" Vale questions, still confused about the 'memory loss' thing from earlier.

"It's 2026." Marc answers softly. "Why?" he adds.

"Well, if I had to be frank, I'd have to say that I was kind of scared before I fainted... I think," Vale confesses unclearly. Maybe he should tell Marc the truth why he was terrified of Marc earlier.

"Tell me more." Marc states, his eyes big and curious, staring into Vale's eyes.

"Ok, ok, maybe I have thought that uh... you left me forever since you were gone in bed," Vale confesses.

"Why would you ever think of that? Do you not trust me?" Marc whines, unamused and disappointed. What did he ever do to make Vale think of him like that?

"No, I do. I swear, it was just a small misunderstanding, please forgive me," Vale pleads, kind of worried that Marc would actually leave him this time.

"Cariño, I could never hate you, as a matter of fact, I love you so, so much I could never dream about a life without you." Marc clarified.

"If it's so... then... let me just.." Vale moves Marc closer and closer to him until they face each other. He then pushes Marc by his head so that he could kiss him.

The kiss they shared was soft and unhurried, it was like a silent vow to each other that they'll never leave each other.

"Te amo, cariño."

"Ti amo, tesoro."

Then they proceed to fall asleep in the hospital bed.
