Chapter Text
Laetus covered his face with his hands, crying into them.
He doesn't understand why he's crying.
He- Laetus doesn't understand why it's so overwhelming.
"Why the tears~?" Scott cooed.
"I- don't-" Laetus let out between sobs "I don't- know"
Laetus kept on crying.
"It must be a lot~ Discovering yourself after so long~" Scott said then paused "how old are you?"
"N- nineteen"
"Not that much then, but for humans that can still be a lot of time" Scott continued.
Laetus kept crying.
Scott hummed, looking Laetus over.
"Come on, don't cry, it'll ruin your pretty face~"
Laetus looked up at Scott, hands still covering Laetus's face partially "I'm not even pretty.."
"When you're wearing a cute dress like that? You sure are~" Scott purred.
Laetus looked down at Laetus's own dress.
"Why do you keep on doing that, you hate me.." Laetus asked, wiping the tears off.
Scott hummed, but didn't answer.
Laetus looked back up at Scott "fine. Don't answer then.."
"Do you know what you would rather go by?" Scott asked.
"Huh?" Laetus blinked in confusion.
"Your pronouns" Scott rephrased.
"Oh" Laetus rubbed Laetus's own eyes "I don't know anymore, she doesn't work, he feels.. fine.."
"And they? It?" Scott tilted his head to the side.
Laetus blinked "It?"
Scott shrugged "some people like that"
Laetus looked down "They and it.. feels.. yeah, those feel.. good.. I think.."
"Right?"
"I don't know, you're the one who should know" Scott answered.
"How do I test it?" Laetus asked, fidgeting with the skirt of.. the dress.
"Make up sentences talking about yourself" Scott proposed "and see if they work"
"That feels weird-" Laetus said.
Scott shrugged "then I'll do it, let's see.."
"Laetus, they have grey brown hair, they have golden eyes, it stands at typically at 1,78 metres tall, its skin is pale and scarred, they are an alchemist, they carve beautifully-"
"Okay- uh- that fine-" Laetus fidgeted with their skirt more, cheeks slightly flushed.
How does Scott even know their height?
"So? Do they work?" Scott asked.
Laetus nodded "he, they and it work"
"Wonderful~" Scott clasped his hands together "do you want me to call you that around others or do you want to keep it a secret?"
"Uhm.." Laetus looked down "I guess I don't really care what other people think, you choose what you want to do"
"Alright~" Scott purred "what about your name?"
"My name?" Laetus asked.
"Do you want to change it? Birthnames don't always work" Scott said
"Laetus isn't my birthname.." Laetus answered "..I like it.."
"It is nice" Scott gave Laetus a sweet smile.
Laetus was silent before blinking and looking up at Scott "wait, we completely went over that, why did you turn people small and put them in dresses??"
Scott chuckled "thought you forgot about that~"
"No! I'm literally in their position right now!" Laetus yelled.
"I just like dresses~ and I thought I would put other people in them too since it makes them look cute and pretty~" Scott cupped his own face with his hands.
Laetus blinked.
It looked down at its own dress then back up at Scott.
He hasn't met men interested in wearing dresses before.
And he knew how to help him discover what he prefers.
Is Scott..?
"Scott."
"Mhm" Scott hummed.
"Are you also neither?" Laetus asked.
"Just because I like dresses? And here I thought you were smarter" Scott tapped his own chin.
"I never said anything about that" Laetus's brows furrowed.
"You did think that, though" Scott deflected.
"You still didn't answer my question" Laetus tried.
Scott just hummed then stood up "maybe you living in that cage is finally getting to you~" he shrugged "We've talked a while haven't we? I should get going before the rest think something happened~"
"Scott."
Scott turned around, waving "have fun waiting for something to happen, my alchemist~" he said.
Then he left.
Laetus stared.
What on earth was that?
Laetus ran a hand through their hair.
First Scott.. helped? them, with what they would like to be called, then expressed he liked dresses, and when asked if he's neither too he deflected.
Why did he deflect? He was completely fine with helping Laetus discovering itself.
Laetus took the string off its forearm and tied its side hair into the usual ponytail.
Why does he even care about Scott in the first place?
He shouldn't care. He should want him to suffer.
Laetus groaned. Damn the crush.
Took you long enough to discover what you are
Laetus ignored the voice.
Did it already know what they were? Why didn't it say anything?
Why would it say anything, it just wants to make them suffer.
Laetus rose his hands into the air above himself and looked at his scarred arms.
He thought there would be more scars from being here.
But Scott hasn't done anything.
He guesses people don't hurt their own pets, but it's Scott, the over a thousand year old vampire, why would he follow any rules.
And some people still don't follow that, even if they're human.
They began coughing.
They quickly sat up, covering their mouth.
Its vision began blurring, pain flared from it's head, tailbone, hands and the wound on his neck.
He kept on coughing, the coughs violent and painful.
Then his vision went black.
He hates those stupid episodes.
