Chapter Text
Jonathan happily bounced into the dining room, wondering why it was so quiet. Joseph, who still had his smudged makeup on, and Caesar were asleep against each other, wearing matching pyjamas, which he thought was cute. Suzie and Kakyoin had glasses of water in front of them, an empty blister pack of painkillers between them. Jotaro had his hat pulled down, so Jonathan couldn’t tell if he was asleep or not. The room was a mess from the party, but there was still food on the table, fresh food.The smell of frying bacon drew his attention to the kitchen; it couldn’t be Erina as she was still asleep. He came round the door, and stood in the middle of the messy room was their mother Holly.
“Morning Jonathan! Breakfast is almost ready~!”
“Mum, you didn’t have to.”
“Of course I did, I’ll always look after my boys!”
She moved to place the bacon on a plate, her slippers scuffing along the floor, before moving to take it out to the living room. He followed behind her, his nerves building up at the news he had to deliver. She sat down next to Jotaro, leaving Jonathan his usual seat next to the last empty seat.
“Will Erina be joining us?”
“She’s still resting at the moment.”
“Oh, I may have cooked too much then.”
There was suddenly a thud under the table, everyone jumping. Joseph and Caesar were startled awake, Kakyoin and Suzie grabbing their heads in pain, Jotaro jumping back in a defensive pose, and Holly letting out a small yelp. Someone crawled out from under the table, moaning in pain as they did. Jotaro was ready to pounce, until the inflatable t-rex stood to their full height and turned to them. There was a moment of silence before Joseph and Caesar burst out laughing, and the blond haired T-rex frowned at them.
“Oh Diego, are you ok? Does your head hurt? Do you need an ice pack at all?”
“Urgh… why am I here? Me and Hot Pants were going partying…”
“Joseph organised a party here last night. Let me get you a coffee!”
Holly got up to get a fresh brew of coffee, and Diego sank into the last free seat, just like in the old days. It was a short while before Holly returned with a tray of coffee, tea and water. Jotaro and Diego locked eyes, both prepared to dive for the coffee first, and while they had their silent war, Caesar picked up the coffee and poured himself a black one. Joseph started to dish himself some food, and Jonathan sat down relaxed, smiling at his family.
“I have some news to tell you all.”
“All of us?” Diego asked, his mouth now full of bacon he’d somehow managed to slyly grab, even with his giant T-rex costume.
“Yes, all of you, I would rather have Erina here with us, but she needs her rest.” He took a deep breath. “We need to move the wedding forward.”
“Finals are coming up.” Jotaro was the first to speak up.
“It’s going to be difficult to change holidays at work.” Caesar was frowning.
“Speedwagon’s flown out to America, it’s going to be difficult to get him back on short notice.” Joseph was wearing the same frown as Caesar.
“Are you sure that’s a good idea Sweetie?” Holly looked at him concerned.
“Yes, we’ll have to move it forward, if we wait too long, then the baby will be too big for Erina to fit in her dress.”
The room went deathly silent, even Diego freezing mid way to stuff even more bacon into his mouth. Holly was practically vibrating in her seat.
“I’m going to be a grandmother?!”
“Oh sweet I get to be an uncle!”
“Me and Kak are not babysitting it.”
Jonathan smiled at his overexcited family, glad that even after everything that happened throughout the years, it was growing, in its own weird little way.
