Chapter Text
Classes started the next day, so when you got up in the morning, you were forced to enter a studious mood. Once you were in class and relaxed, though, you found it hard to concentrate. Maybe you were being dramatic-- actually, you probably were-- but even with the "bonjour ma cheri, bonne journée <3" text Karamatsu sent you this morning, you couldn't help but feel like the world was ending.
Okay, overexaggeration, but still.
You longed to see Karamatsu the more you thought of him, and it distracted you throughout the entire lecture. Fortunately, you knew YoBae had this class, too, and you were going to (guiltily) ask her for her notes later. You're glad you overbooked on credits your previous three years, because now you only had a few classes during the week.
Falling on your bed, you immediately pull out your phone and text Kara about your day. You explain how it was boring and you kept thinking of him. He doesn't reply, so you sit and wait for him to. While doing so, you sometimes get up to drink some water, or adjust a decoration on your stand, or something else that really had no meaning. Eventually, you dig through your still unpacked suitcase and pull out Karamatsu's leather jacket, hugging it tightly and inhaling his lingering scent. Finally, two hours later, you hear the ding of your phone.
You feel so much better talking to him. It's almost like before, but not as good. You still missed him, even while texting, but it reduced your ache to a dull feeling in the pit of your chest, and you're able to be comforted by the small notion.
For the next few minutes you let him spam you with compliments and promises of love and a happy future, before he brokenheartingly (literally sending you a broken heart) tells you he needs to start his day. Knowing you couldn't have him forever, you tell him goodnight and that you hope he has a good one.
Sending you a plethora of emojis (smileys, blushies, kissies, a wine glass and some sunglasses), the conversation ends and you feel the loneliness settle back in. Not wanting to be alone in your thoughts, however, you put on a random playlist and let the music carry you away. After another hour and a half of doing literally nothing, a song comes on, and you listen to its every word.
It speaks to your heart, and even opens your eyes to something you feel you should have known already. Pulling up your phone again, you send the link of the song to Kara, tell him that you'd like him to hear it, even if he didn't understand it. You tell him you think the message will show even if he doesn't get all the words, but, knowing him, you're 70% sure he'll just google translate the lyrics so he can comment on them.
Not that you minded, you just want him to know it matters to you, the way he does. This song reminded you of him.
Right after you send it, though, he asks why you're still up. "Not tired," is what you send back, because you don't want to bother him too much throughout his day. Besides, you really thought you'd be able to fall asleep, but the coincidentally sad songs coming on were only adding to your sorrow.
A lyric that reverberates in your soul:
"The stars lean down to kiss you, and I lie awake and miss you," that line alone pretty much summed up your mood the past week. "Pour a heavy dose of atmposphere, 'cause I'll doze off safe and soundly, but I'll miss your arms around me," so true, it only reminds you of his missing warmth, and you pull the leather jacket towards your face, shutting your eyes. "I'd send a post card to you, dear, 'cause I wish you were here."
A reply; he says that he'll listen to as soon as he's available. You let him know that's fine.
"I'll watch the night turn light blue," that color looked so good on him, "but it's not the same without you, because it takes two to whisper quietly..." At this point of the song, you've been lulled to a sleepy state, lashes damp from the oncoming wave of tears the lyrics brought you. "The silence isn't so bad, 'till I look at my hands and feel sad, 'cause the space between my fingers are right where yours fit perfectly."
A dream.
Karamatsu brought you the Eiffel Tower, proclaiming his undying love for you. You're touched, but you tell him to put it back. "People need that," you tell him, but he makes a weird face and says something back that you don't understand. You both had forgotten you don't speak the same language.
He gives you his jacket instead, and then sails the ocean blue to leave you behind. You ask him to stay, but he cannot. Instead, you cry him a new ocean to sail, so that he can think of you while he navigates the seas.
By the time you wake up the next morning from your alarm clock, you realize you had forgotten to ask YoBae for her notes and smack your head.
You've got to get your stuff together if you wanted anything to go right.
