Chapter Text

The temperature had dropped drastically and without warning. The people milling about in the streets had adopted scarves and hats as the biting November winds blew multicolored leaves around their feet. They were being watched from a high rise apartment window, each pom pom and scarf given a tiny story of the watcher’s making. Wind rattled the window he watched from. Soft blonde hair fell in his eyes as he blinked sleepily. A knock echoed softly to him followed by the creak of the door.

“Ahhh, so chilly. It’s gonna rain soon, too. Glad I made it back in time… Yoongi!” Hoseok called out, carrying the plastic take out bag into the living room. Tearing his eyes away from the streets, Yoongi slid into the crook of the couch as he turned around.

“Welcome back.” He greeted with a small smile, his eyes trailing down to the bag of food.

“Yes, before you ask, I got your packets.” Hoseok reached into the bag before Yoongi could speak again, pulling out a silvery packet with a small nozzle on one end, clearly labeled Blood Substitute (AB Flavor). Yoongi’s eyes shone with desire and he reached out for it. “Alright, alright! Calm down!” Hoseok chuckled, setting the food on the coffee table and tossing the bag to Yoongi. It was warm. It was better warm. Yoongi undid the nozzle and started sipping at it happily as Hoseok pulled out the rest of the food and laid it out.

“Thanks for getting it.” Yoongi looked up from his packet to express his thanks. Hoseok just waved them away.

“Don’t worry about it. It’s too cold for you anyways.” He rounded the table and flopped down next to Yoongi, surveying the feast in front of them.

“Yeah, did you have to get so much?” Yoongi frowned slightly.

“Of course I did! Take out leftovers are the best part.”

“Right, right.” He chuckled slightly, setting the empty packet aside. With a grunt, he stood up, walking to his kitchen to grab plates.

“Why’d you want to meet at your place this time?” Hoseok carried on the conversation through the rooms. Yoongi walked back in with two plates, shrugging a bit.

“There something wrong with it?”

“No no! It’s just, you never wanted to be here, so I was just wondering.” The two started piling food on their plates, Yoongi grabbing another packet and popping it open.

“It’s warmer here.”

“Oh. Oh, right.” The heating turned on with a series of clicks. “I forget that not everyone can, uh, temperature regulate…”

“And I forget not everyone can see so well in the dark.” Yoongi shrugged. “It’s bullshit anyways. If I don’t have blood flowing shouldn’t I not get cold, or hot, or anything?”

“I’d think that’d make you colder. Isn’t bad circulation what makes people cold?”

“Eh.” Yoongi grunted, knowing it made sense. With a plate full of food, he sat back down next to Hoseok, automatically gravitating towards his warmth. It was true, he got cold much easier now than when he was human. They started eating quietly, just listening to the wind batter the walls and the heat blow into the room. It was a very particular feeling, knowing the elements were trying to reach you, yet being comfortable and safe. One that made Yoongi want more than ever to just snuggle up to someone and relax in their hold… But despite the fact they had officially been together for nearly a month, he still felt odd about seeking any sort of physical affection.

Hoseok set his empty plate down, patting his stomach contentedly. Yoongi resisted the urge to roll his eyes- he’d always eaten way too quickly. A particularly strong gust of wind made the building creak slightly. Even as Yoongi neared the end of his plate, he held onto it. It gave him at least the slight feeling of holding something, though he continually cast sidelong glances towards Hoseok. He couldn’t help it. The elementalist was always so warm, he always seemed so sturdy despite how all over the place his energy seemed to be.

“Yoongi? You alright?” Hoseok looked over with furrowed brow. Shit, he must have noticed.

“Mm? Yeah, fine, why?” Yoongi did his best to be as casual as he usually was, but Hoseok didn’t seem convinced. “You done? I’ll take your plate.” Before the conversation could progress, Yoongi stood up, grabbing the empty plates and walking back to the kitchen. He rolled up the sleeves of his hoodie (who needed to wear a hoodie inside honestly curse his cold nature) and busied himself with washing off the dishes to quell his thoughts. When that didn’t take long enough, he looked around for something else, spotting a box of hot chocolate packets. That’d be perfect.

He pulled out milk and poured it into two mugs, making sure he had grabbed Hoseok’s special mug he kept around his place in case of random visits. He still remembered when he had spotted the tiny white mug, emblazoned with a cartoonish sun and the word ‘happy’ repeated over and over across it in multiple languages, and how perfect he had thought it would be for him. The excitement on Hoseok’s face was worth more than a billion mugs, he’d buy him a castle full of mugs if it could just mean seeing that glee and joy on his face-

The microwave beeped aggressively at him. He hadn’t even realized he had put the mugs in, he had been so lost in thought. He pulled them out, grabbing two packets from the box and dumping the brown powder into the steaming milk. Of course he had to get the kind with the tiny marshmallows included, and when the two mugs were mixed to his satisfaction, he poured the itty bitty bits of sugar on top and carried them out.

Hoseok looked up, having pulled out his phone in the meantime, smiling excitedly as he spotted the two mugs. Yoongi smirked a bit as he bounced in excitement, handing him his mug before taking his seat again. Having something warm in his hands felt nice.

“And it has the lil marshmallows! Thanks, Yoongi. I was beginning to wonder what was taking you so long.” Hoseok spoke as he sipped at his hot chocolate.

“Yeah, no problem.” Yoongi responded, shivering slightly despite the warmth of the drink and the room. Why was he so damn cold?

“Yoongi?” Hoseok leaned in, looking over his face and setting his own drink aside. “Are you okay? You seem colder than usual. Are you sick? Can vampires get sick?” He reached out, brushing some hair from Yoongi’s forehead and placing his hand on it. All Yoongi could focus on though was how close his face was and the little bit of cocoa foam on his upper lip. “That’s… not helpful at all. Of course you just feel cold.”

“H-Hoseok…” Yoongi spoke up, voice uncharacteristically shaky and quiet.

“Hmm? What’s wrong?”

“Can I… try? Try something?”

“Oh, sure, what’s up?” Hoseok’s hand slid down to Yoongi’s shoulder, but he didn’t pull back at all. Yoongi blindly set his drink to the side, unwilling to pull his eyes off of the face in front of him at all, and moved his hands up to gently hold Hoseok’s face. A spark of realization flashed in Hoseok’s eyes, but it soon mellowed to just pure love as slowly Yoongi leaned forward, gently pressing their lips together. Yoongi let his eyes flutter close, a strange warmth stirring in his stomach that spread through his body, comforting and kind. Hoseok tilted his head slightly, leaning into the hot chocolate scented kiss. They broke apart after a moment, and had Yoongi still been human, he knew he’d absolutely be beet red. Hoseok, however, was nothing but pure warmth and love.

“S-sorry, if that was sudden, um…” Yoongi stuttered slightly, still holding the other’s face. Hoseok only chuckled slightly.

“Don’t be sorry. I’ve been waiting for you to initiate something like that, you seemed kinda uncomfortable with touching. I didn’t want to force anything.”

“It was that obvious, huh?” Yoongi smiled slightly as Hoseok settled back in.

“You aren’t very good at hiding things.” As Hoseok was settled, he gently grabbed Yoongi and pulled him over onto himself, the smaller’s head resting on his chest. This was exactly what Yoongi had envisioned. Yet it was even more perfect that he had anticipated. Any stress his body held melted into Hoseok, curling up on the couch and resting against him in a loose cuddle. “Oh- Oh! Look! It’s snowing.” Hoseok’s eyes shone with childlike glee as he looked outside, fluffy white flakes drifting lazily past the window. A blanket cut off his vision for a moment, wrapping both of them in a bundle of warmth. “Sorry! I just saw this on the back of the couch. You’ve looked so cold all night, I thought this would be nice.”

“It is.” Yoongi fussed a little, getting comfortable and staring outside at the first snow of the year. “It’s perfect.”

Notes:

So I figured out how to get Namjoon in there. Woo.

In case it wasn't clear who was what; Kim Namjoon-Demon, Kim Seokjin-Angel, Min Yoongi-Young vampire, Jung Hoseok-Elementalist, Park Jimin-Originally human; Now zombie, Kim Taehyung-Werewolf, Jeon Jungkook-Ancient vampire

So I don't expect a whole lotta people to read this, or even really care about it, which is a-okay since it's just a lil thing to make me feel better. If you did read though, hope you enjoyed! I have a habit of reworking grimdark things, so, uh, yeh. Hope this is okay 'u'
