Chapter Text
Seokjin still pretended to sleep when Mr. Kim was getting ready for his appointment with his college friends. Well, sleeping until noon because you’re too tired for all the water activities you did in last days is a natural thing.
But when Mr. Kim closed the door, Seokjin can’t close his eyes anymore. He can’t sleep. He also slept very late last night. He snuggled to his blanket, wondering what is he actually felt right now. One thing he’s sure of is this was because of Mr. Kim’s words last night.
Ex fiancé. It’s his ex fiance.
They didn’t continue the topic afterwards. Seokjin wanted to ask a lot of things but he also didn't want to, so that sentence kept repeating on his head, making him sick.
It feels like something had just hit him so hard until he realized they two are from different worlds. He’s a teacher, a lecturer, while he was only his student. He’s 27, Seokjin is 21. He had fiancé, while Jin has never been dating.
Is he jealous? But what is he jealous for? Or more precisely, did he unknowingly already in love with him?
Seokjin is 21, yet he never felt like this before. He spent his time studying, he just wanted to help his parent’s economy with scholarships so he thought he didn't have time to fall in love.
Is this what people said ‘butterflies in the stomach’? Well, it does feel like that, but Seokjin hates it.
Seokjin got up from his bed and stood next to Mr. Kim’s. The bed looks messy, but it also looks more comfortable than his. Seokjin climbed on it doubtfully. It’s already cold. But as soon as he smells Mr. Kim’s scent all over it, Seokjin can’t help but burry himself in it.
It’s fresh. Seokjin is used to smell this orange scents when he takes a shower afterwards these days, the scent of shower gel Mr. Kim used.
He could also smell the woody and musky scent from perfume very faintly. Seokjin breathe in deeply.
Maybe this is what he needs. Maybe it can help him get enough sleep. Maybe Seokjin is already too comfortable with his scent.
Seokjin opened his eyes slowly. He heard a soft vibrating sound from his phone. What time is it?
Seokjin’s looking for his phone but he can’t find it. He just realized that he’s not on his own bed. He’s wide awake now and hurriedly got up and moved to his own bed. Shoot. What time is it now?
Seokjin got his phone as soon as the vibration is gone.
16.43
☎ 3 missed call from Mr. Kim Namjoon
✉ Mr Kim: Seokjinnie if you changed your mind and want to come, just let me know. I’ll pick you up
✉ Mr Kim: Hey, are you still sleeping?
✉ Mr Kim: I’ll be back soon ok, wait for me! I wanna watch fireworks too
✉ Mr Kim: Kim Seokjin are you there?
✉ Mr Kim: answer my call.
When Seokjin finished reading the whole messages in shock, he got another call.
“Uhm, hello?”
‘Where are you?’ a voice from the phone asked.
“Uhh, currently not at the hotel, Sir,” he lied. Wait. Why did he lie?
‘Didn’t I tell you don’t go anywhere?’
“But I don’t want to watch fireworks, Sir,” Seokjin lied. Again.
They both fall silent. Seokjin is waiting for his response.
‘I’m already close. Tell me where you are right now.’
Seokjin immediately panicked. He took his pants to change and said, “you said it’s my free time today, right? Let’s just…spend our time alone. See you later, Sir.”
And then he end the call. He actually feels bad to hang up the call with his own teacher first, but he’s in hurry.
So he changed his pants and run to the bathroom to wash his face, grabbed his phone and room card before then goes down hurriedly.
Seokjin is safe. He didn’t meet him until he arrived at a fast food restaurant near his hotel to hide. He chose the most corner seat just in case, still, there was no sign of his teacher’s appearance.
He is not sure whether he should feel relieved or vice versa, but he’s sure feel lonely. He texted Mr. Kim not to contact him or else, his phone will run out of battery and he will lost here forever. Just another lies he told him without knowing the real reason.
Seokjin stayed there for hours playing a mobile game. But time flies, it’s almost 8 o'clock already. The people around him rushed to finish his food and hurriedly go out. Of course they want to watch the fireworks.
He waited a little longer, to make sure that he was already too late to watch the fireworks. Seokjin wondered why he torture himself like this when he really wanted to watch fireworks, but something inside him answered his own question. Because he himself said to Mr. Kim that he didn't want to watch it, so he wants to prove his words.
He returned to the hotel at half past eight, after the fireworks is over. He walked with his head down, watching his feet kicking the rocks on the side path. He kept walking until accidentally bumped into something hard.
“I’ve been looking for you averywhere.”
Seokjin raised his face to meet the taller guy. It was Mr. Kim, was short of breath and face wet with sweat.
“Mr. Kim?”
Mr. Kim just sighed and wiped his face with his hand. “Joonie,” he said suddenly. “Just call me Joonie, like Yoongi said…or Namjoon, it works too.”
Huh?
Seokjin wasn't sure what had happened but his chest feels full. He was still dumbfounded when Mr. Ki–…Joonie pulled his hand away.
They went to the hotel rooftop. Seokjin doesn't know how can they have access here, he also didn’t realize that his teacher had been carrying some packages all this time. Mr. Kim opened one of them and took what’s inside.
Sparklers.
He lit the gas lighter and began to burn the tip. It starts to flicker. He hand Jin one and take another one to burn.
“…sir,” Seokjin began the conversation. Mr. Kim didn't look at him, still focused on the flickering fire. He just hummed softly asking him to continue, so jin does.
“What is this?,” he asked.
“I feel bad I can't take you to see the fireworks,” Mr. Kim answered calmly.
“That’s because I don’t want to, Sir,” he said more like to himself.
“I told you what to call me, right?”
Seokjin fell silent. He actually doesn’t know what to do, so he just sits there next to his teacher, staring at the sparklers.
This time, Jin felt comfortable in their silence. They spend a box of sparklers already, the last one is in Jin’s hand. Well, he actually wanted to talk but since Mr. Kim insisted so he call him by his nickname, it still feels awkward. So Jin just stole a glance at him several times, and then stopped himself to speak.
“Seokjin-ah,” he called suddenly. Seokjin turned his head to see him, he’s sticking out his chin a little and somehow it’s so endearing for Jin. “If you want to ask anything to me, just ask,” he said as if he knew what’s inside of Jin’s mind. “I will answer.”
Seokjin raised his eyebrows. That was not expected. “Anything?,” he repeated, but he just nodded, so Jin waited until the last sparkler died while gathering his strength to ask him the questions.
“Umm, Namjoon..nie?” he checked on the name owner and after sure that it’s okay, he continued. “First, I want to ask why I should call you by your nickname.”
“What nickname?”
Seokjin clicked his tongue. There’s no way he didn’t know his own nickname. “Joonie!”
Namjoon smiled, “ah, that. Only those who are close to me that call me that.”
Uh-oh. Jin’s heart skipped a beat. “But, are we…close?” Jin suddenly remembers a conversation with him on the boat.
You seem to be very close to Park Jimin, Sir
As a student and teacher, well, I think he’s pretty smart
“I mean, as a student and teacher, right?” he tried to correct himself, but it made him want to ask more question. “D-did Jiminnie called you that too? Or other students, maybe?”
Namjoon laughed softly, looked at him and patted Jin’s head.
“I’ll beat them if they do that,” he said with sweet smile, doesn’t match his words.
“What about Jiminnie?”
“You always asked Jiminnie-this, Jiminnie-that…are you jealous of him?” Seokjin’s ears reddened, it was right on the target. “Wha- so you’re really jealous of him??”
Seokjin quickly looked away, “noo of course I’m not,” he said, hands covering his ears. Namjoon burst out laughing, can’t hold back the cuteness.
“Cuutee~” Namjoon said as he pinched his student’s cheek slowly.
“Stop teasing me!” now Jin hid his whole face in his hands.
“I’m not teasing you, you really are cute, Seokjinnie~”
“Nooo!”
And then Jin felt a big, strong hand pulled Jin to his chest. “I’m happy, Seokjin-ah,” Namjoon put another hand on Jin’s back, hugging him.
Seokjin froze. He did not understand what had happened, but he also refused to stop it.
“…second question,” Jin continue, forehead still rests on Joon’s chest. “Wait but first I wanna stay like this,” he quickly said when he felt a hand behind his head loosened. Namjoon snorted softly.
“Sure, ask away,” he said while caressing Jin’s hair. Seokjin fixed his position so now he rests comfortably on Namjoon’s chest.
“Second question…if there are only some people that close to you can call you that, then…why do you want me to call you that too?”
Namjoon still caressing his head. “You avoid me, and then just disappeared. I ran around the beach and roads looking for you. We’ve spent our time together for days, but just now, you feel very far away,” he said with a very calming voice, disparate with the loud beats from his chest that Jin heard. He continues, “hearing you calling me that, somehow can calm me down.”
Now Seokjin can also hear his own heartbeats. He’s lucky that Namjoon couldn’t see his face.
“Third question,” Jin quickly continues, “…are you liking someone?”
The caress stopped. They both silent. “Are you serious?” Namjoon asked after a while. Jin raised his face to meet Namjoon’s. “You’re still questioning that?”
“I don’t know,” Jin shrugged. “It looks like you just broke up recently and still sensitive when Mr. Jung talked abou–“
Namjoon cupped his squishy cheeks on his hands. “We got engaged because he’s my childhood friend. My father and his are also bestfriends, they arranged that for us since I was, what, ten? But I told my dad that I want YOu and he said sure, as long as I am happy!
I was annoyed at Hoseok because he chose to bring that topic when I was clearly here with you, I don’t want you to misunderstand, you see? That’s why you become awkward after that, right?
I've been watching you for some times now. I saw you at the cafeteria, you were so bright, laughing so beautifully, you also eat deliciously, then turns out you are my student, a very smart one. I have to be professional, I also don't want to disturb your concentration, but I cant help it, I’m already too deep for you. But again, you're my student, and it's illegal, and it makes me feel bad and guilty even though we only a few years apart. So I’m gonna wait for you. You’ll graduate next year right? Marry me,” Namjoon said without a single pause.
Seokjin only blinked, processing. Lately his brain is functioning slowly. Seconds later, his face turned very, very red. But too bad, he couldn’t hide it because his face was still held by him.
Namjoon smiled. “I love you.” He put his lips on Jin’s gently. Jin feels like he’s going to explode but when he saw him smile in the middle of it, Seokjin melted.
Until something interrupted his mind.
“Wait,” Seokjin pulled his head back. Namjoon’s lips still craving for his, he put on a confused face, wanting to continue real soon but also wants to hear his boyfriend. “Did you say you told your dad about me?”
“Of course, I need his blessing,” he said like it’s the dumbest thing Jin asked. Seokjin’s eyes widened.
“You toLD THE RECTOR OF THE UNIVERSITY ABOUT ME?”
Namjoon laughed gracefully, eyes form the crescent moon, showing his dimples like always. “Otherwise, how could I go around changing your class into a date like this,” he said slyly. “The rumors about me back then wasn’t entirely wrong, you know.”
Seokjin can’t believe his ears, and also his eyes. “You– I cant believe you…”
How can the very charming teacher he always saw in class, turned into something evil-ish like this?
“Hey, but I haven’t heard it from you,” Namjoon said with a pout.
“What?”
“The ’I love you’. I’ve said it, I want you to say it too. You haven't even answered whether you accept my proposal or not.”
Seokjin’s blushing again. This is so unfair. “I…love you too,” he said quietly, but enough to grow a big smile on his boyfriend’s face. He immediately stood up and pulled him away, “lets go,” he said.
“Go where?” Jin asked while following him.
“To our room, of course,” Namjoon said with a wink, not letting the blush on Jin’s face rest.
