They had run into each other by chance the first time. Maybe not so much the second.
Izuku knew they had a traitor within Yuuei’s walls. That was a simple fact, and everyone in the league knew it. Of course, only Kurogiri knew who, after he disappeared. That asshole. Every time he looked at Shigaraki, it just made him want to march straight into Tartarus and wrap his hands around that-
Chill.
Anyway. There was a traitor. They were smart, as they were completely under the radar. At times, it seemed that the staff simply.. forgot there was a traitor in the first place. They weren’t dumb enough to pit against eachother, and that only left their students, who couldn’t possibly be the ones behind something like that.
What a wonderful way of thinking.
Izuku wasn’t prepared to be Kurogiri’s ‘traitor keeper’ while he was gone doing who-knows-what, but it was the obvious choice. Given that he was probably the most collected person in the group next to Mr. Compress, leaving him in charge of keeping this little rat up to date was logical. He
That was the plan, however, until he met Kaminari Denki.
Kaminari was… beautiful. That was probably the only way Izuku could describe him. He had a beautiful mind, a beautiful heart, and a beautiful smile. He wasn’t prepared to find him that beautiful, but the facts lined themselves up so nicely, so how could he not?
They had met, and opposed to a grungy old man he had expected, he had met an enigma that captured his interest.
How the tables turned.
Obviously, it had become clear enough to Izuku when they… stopped meeting for work. Their conversations weren’t full of them exchanging information, and telling the secrets of the hero world. They shared secrets sometimes- like how Kaminari used to watch old American movies when he was feeling bad about himself, or how the only thing that had gotten Izuku this far was heroes, on both sides of the coin. They talked about families, about ice cream. They learned each others habits, their laughs, and maybe the two should have expected when the rest of the league thought there was something more.
They did, and it was… an odd experience. It mainly full of Izuku stuttering and covering his face with his hands, and Kaminari laughed -oh god, his laugh- and explained otherwise. And it was left at that. They’d get teased, but that went down as soon as Twice discovered Spinner and Shigaraki together (ewwww), and no one really had a second thought about their two youngest’s (still in service) recruit’s relationships.
Except maybe Izuku.
It was a horrible time, questioning what you thought were completely platonic feelings for the person you could consider your best friend, but here he was, having a meltdown over the unconscious body of a police officer he needed to borrow identification from. It only took one murmuring of what their quirk was, and now he had to deal with the fact that, oh god , he was completely attracted to his best friend.
Not that fun.
And maybe, it would've been fine. But here he was, dreaming and thinking about the beautiful boy that was Kaminari Denki, shifting through files and thinking about the least awkward way to confess to your secret villain best friend that you’d love to be secret villain boyfriends with him, if that wsn’t the gay agenda already. And maybe he did have plans for the chocolate Kaminari mentioned offhandedly he likes, that Izuku had stuck away for a cloudy day, and maybe he was actually thinking things through.
But right now? Stealing classified information on hero coverups so he can leak it and expose people.
Villain boyfriends, file that away for tomorrow.
