Chapter Text
“So, when were you going to tell me this was happening?” Mu Qingfang asks, controlling his temper. His shixiong has a problem. A major problem for any doctor, medic or healer. He wouldn’t tell anyone when he was unwell unless it was visibly obvious. It’s caused many problems! His shixiong almost never mentioned the stress of being poisoned and sapped of his spiritual energy, the nosebleeds, his tendency to overheat easily! Mu Qingfang swears, if he didn’t mandate regular checkups for the peak lords, his shixiong would have lived with that damn poison constantly blocking his spiritual energy (more than it already does)! He was worse than Liu Qingge! He could scold Liu Qingge!! But every time he learns about some ailment or predisposition (pre, as in appeared after the fever. He was definitely right about the fever changing him), his shixiong looked incredibly guilty already.
“I wasn’t.” there it was. Shen Qingqiu suddenly taking an immense interest in the nearby wall, cheeks slightly flush as he furrows his brow. Shixiong is adorable, infuriating, and I’m going to lose my temper with him one day . At least he’s honest? Honest……..ly infuriating.
“You weren’t going to tell your doctor that you have been experiencing fatigue, bodily weakness and nosebleeds this entire time?” he asks with a sigh, ignoring the nod he got in return. Of course. He doesn’t want to trouble them…. “How long have you been experiencing this?” And how the hell should he fix this? Logic tells him to just leave his dumb shixiong on the walkway until he feels better but the man cares about his reputation more than his own well being so that would do absolutely nothing to solve this. He needs to move him somewhere that he won’t be seen and let him rest there.
Ugh. Moving him. Sorry about your image, shixiong . He prays to the heavens that nobody is anywhere near his office before he kneels down. The scholar watches him with narrowed eyes as he checks him over (just to be sure). It’s easy enough to get his arms around Shen Qingqiu and lift him - he’s surprisingly light for someone his height - from the floor, he’s genuinely surprised he hasn’t been elbowed yet. The other peak lord stiffens as he’s carried towards the common area, frowning. Maybe this is why Liu Qingge is always carrying him around… It’s not something he personally cares to get used to, but he can see the appeal.
