Chapter Text
Upon arriving to the classroom, the first thing he notices is the two boys sitting in the middle of the room. Midoriya is sitting on a chair pulled up at the side of the desk Todoroki is sitting at, and seems to be in the middle of a conversation with the other boy. Todoroki seems to be doing better from the looks of it. He could always rely on Midoriya for cheering people up, there's no doubt that the boy would make a wonderful hero. However, he can't help but still feel the tension in the room upon entering it.
Aizawa knocks on the opened door quietly in order to make their presence know by the two boys.
"Sorry to interrupt" Aizawa supplies, now gaining the attention of his students.
"Midoriya," Aizawa turns to face the boy "would you give us a few minutes alone with Todoroki?"
All Might watches as Midoriya turns to look at Todoroki then back and Aizawa, almost like he's asking for permission.
"It won't be long my boy" All Might chips in, noticing his hesitation.
Midoriya once again looks back at Todoroki who nods in return.
"Okay," Midoriya says resigning himself to Aizawa, and then turning to meet Todoroki's gaze "I'll be right outside, okay?"
Todoroki nods once again, allowing Midoriya to make his way out of the classroom.
All Might doesn't miss the pleading look given to him by Midoriya as he leaves the room, it was a look of caution. All Might wonders if Midoriya is aware that he and Aizawa do not bring good news. From the look he supplied, he feels as if the boy must already know.
Aizawa closes the door once Midoriya leaves, leaving only the three of them in the classroom.
The tension he felt from earlier is more noticeable with the absence of Midoriya.
Aizawa makes his way toward his student, and he follows suit not too far behind him.
Todoroki seems somewhat like his usual self, calm and composed, but with a twinge of anxiety. Despite not knowing enough about the boy, there is one thing he knows for sure, and it's that Todoroki has an exceptional poker face. However, like anyone, the boy has his weaknesses. It's the boys leg bouncing slightly from underneath the table which gives his nervousness away. He doubts Todoroki even notices it himself.
Both he and Aizawa are seated in front of Todoroki. All Might tries his best not to give away any nervous ticks of his own in front of his student, trying to remain calm. Luckily for him, Aizawa isn't one for loosing composure, and gets straight to it.
"We have good news and bad news" Aizawa says straightforwardly, leaving him wondering if that was the best way to go about this. He guesses they shouldn't be dancing around the subject either.
"Bad news first" Todoroki says maybe a little too quickly, "please" he tacks on at the end sheepishly, realizing his quick response.
Aizawa sighs and runs a hand through his hair, "Somehow I knew you would want that one first" he says looking like hes pondering something.
Aizawa turns his gaze back to Todoroki, and suddenly the tension in the room has increased once again
"With how your father complicates things, it's hard to say where things will go from here" Aizawa says leaning in closer to the boy.
Todoroki's expression does not waver, and allows Aizawa to continue speaking.
"As of right now, we're waiting for some specialists to get back to us" Aizawa continues.
"What do you mean by 'specialists'?" Todoroki asks, never missing a beat.
Aizawa contemplates his words. most likely wondering if now is the time to say. Aizawa isn't one to withhold information though.
"Child protective services." Aizawa supplies, in his usual straight forward manner.
All Might looks over to his student who seems to be contemplating his teachers words carefully. He looks somewhat small seated in his chair in front of two of his teachers.
"...So you told them?" Todoroki says bitterly, not allowing his gaze to betray his composure.
"Yes" Is all Aizawa supplies, looking rather bitter himself.
"We had to my boy" All Might pitches in for the first time, leaving the boy in front of his somewhat surprised by his words. "It's the best way to help you"
Todoroki looks over to both him and Aizawa before nodding with resignation. He supposes that Todoroki is finally coming to terms with the situation at hand.
Aizawa takes the opportunity to continue.
"Unfortunately, It isn't that simple... Your father, he complicates things." Aizawa says tartly.
All Might can't help but cringe at his words. It's true that Endeavor complicates things, in fact 'complicates' is an understatement. Endeavor can have everyone in ruins in a matter of minutes, and that goes double for the boy in front of him. He wishes this were like any other kind of abuse case where the abuser can easily go behind bars and never left to torment again. However, Endeavor wont go down so easily.
"They don't believe it right?" Todoroki says solemnly.
"N-" Aizawa tries to interject but Todoroki continues.
"It's fine" Todoroki says looking to his hands "It's not like I wanted any one to believe me"
"Todoroki..." All Might says reaching out to the boy.
Todoroki brushes his hand away and looks up at him offering him a tired smile.
"I said it before didn't I? I don't need things to change, it's better if things are left this way"
All Might stares at the boy intently watching his smile fall over time. Just how many more lies is this kid going to tell himself? And how many more until it breaks him completely?
"That's not an option" Aizawa says, causing both him and Todoroki to look in his direction.
"I said it before didn't I? Your treatment at home is not acceptable under any circumstances, and even though you might not want it to change, we-" Aizawa gestures toward himself and All Might "do"
Todoroki gapes at the two of them a little.
"And that's exactly what we're going to do" All Might adds.
Aizawa nods, "Even if your father complicates things, we're going to work things out and we're not going anywhere"
Aizawa ruffles Todoroki's hair, causing the boys two toned hair to mix together. Todoroki flushes a bit due to the sudden attention, and All Might smiles at the display. It's not everyday where he sees Todoroki play the kid that he actually is.
"Anyways" Aizawa continues "enough about that. On to the good news"
Todoroki perks up upon hearing Aizawa's words.
"I hope you like cats" Aizawa says with a growing smirk "Because you're going to be staying with me"
