Chapter Text
Izuku had his cheek resting in his hand.
He was bored.
Class went on, though he wasn't listening to Aizawa.
He let out a long breath, letting his eyes drift to the empty chair in front of him.
Then to the clock on the wall.
The bell chiming, class was over. Everyone making their way to the now crowded hallway.
Izuku shoving his empty notebook into his bag.
He didn't care much for school anymore. It seemed pointless sometimes.
Though his grades stayed the same, Izuku changed on the training field.
A certain ruthlessness came out from him.
He didn't care what classmate he was fighting. He fought to win. No questions. Ending each fight within seconds.
He didn't feel anything anymore. He felt numb.
So the worry of hurting people or messing up was gone.
It was equally good and bad. Allowing him to break past all other students and improve greatly.
But it was bad because he was... harsh.
He did what he had to do. Causing injuries to almost anyone he trained with. Because he had lost all respect for his classmates and himself. They didn’t even deserve to be in this school. Training to be heroes. Pathetic. If they couldn’t save a hero then they didn’t deserve to even hope to become one.
Izuku finished packing his bag and then made his way out of the classroom. Yet a hand on his shoulder stopped him.
"Midoriya, I would like to speak with you." Aizawa said sternly.
"It's going to have to wait until after my training." Izuku said, shrugging the hand off of him. And then he continued to walk away, making his way to the gym.
Izuku didn’t even care what Aizawa might have to say to him, he didn’t even care what anyone said to him anymore.
What where they even doing? How disgustingly diluted where they? Everyone either wanting to be a hero or they were already one. Yet they let their friend die and didn't do anything. Those same words rang over and over again in his head.
He threw his bag into his locker and yanked on his gym uniform. Letting the locker slam shut behind him.
A sigh escaping his chest as he pushed open the gym doors, of course it was group training today. Iida and the other class reps thought it was needed to keep the classes 'bonded'.
He didn't feel like he belonged anymore.
It was irritating interacting with anyone now. They all tried to hard. Tried to be friendly to him. Tried to cheer him up. That was the worst possible thing they could do.
Because why hadn't they tried to do the same for Kacchan when he was alive?
Why hadn't they cared then?
Izuku starts stretching, maybe training with someone outside of his class would be good. Maybe one of them could actually challenge him for once.
It would also get his mind off of things. Everything to be exact. The only time he could have peace of mind was when he was training. Nothing else mattered when he was fighting.
"Okay everyone! Line up and then we will sort you into random training groups." Iida called out as he stood next to Kendo.
Izuku stood, watching lazily as others lined up beside him.
"Hey Deku" Uraraka said cheerfully, wide eyes looking at him.
Of course she would chose to stand near him.
"Stop calling me that all the time." Izuku said plainly. It was so irritating hearing other people say his nickname now. It wasn't the same anymore. He liked it as his hero name because Kacchan gave the nickname to him, but with Uraraka calling him that in her overly cheerful voice, constantly, was getting on his nerves.
"Oh... Sorry..." She said in a quieter tone, eyes turning to the floor.
Izuku felt like he should feel some guilt, but didn't do anything. His classmates had done an admirable job trying get their old Deku back.
But it was a pointless effort. The old Deku was dead. Now there was only who he was now, in a middle ground, not knowing his point anymore. Flowing through life, aimless.
"Awwwww does that nickname bring up your hurt ~feelings~" Monoma chuckled on his other side.
Izuku slowly turned to look at him.
"/What/ Did you just say to me?" He spoke slowly, trying to process what Monoma just said.
"Wow touchy subject, expected from a weak class 1A member. I was /saying/ that I should call you ~Deku~ in battle so I can throw you off." He added with his usual grin.
Izuku's hand shot out, yanking the front of Monoma's shirt. Holding him face to face.
"You better shut up right now." Izuku muttered under his breath. His heart rate already quickened. A 'touchy subject'. Monoma has no idea. But Izuku tried to keep cool, taking a deep breath. Don't over react. It's just stupid Monoma.
"Oh? Shut up about your nickname your 'Kacchan' gave you? It's you're hero name unless you've forgotten, better get used to hearing it. Maybe its time to move on, ~Deku~" Monoma teased in a snarky tone, the wide grin still plastered on his face. He must be proud to be able to rile Izuku up. Maybe he thought it gave him some type of control. But he was very, very wrong.
Izuku didn't even think twice after he heard what Monoma said.
A loud crack sounding through the air, Izuku's fist colliding with Monoma's face.
The boy flying backwards, collapse on the ground feet away from where he once stood.
Izuku was instantly back on Monoma, one for all's sparks lighting up the air around them. He kept punching and punching.
He felt a hand grab his shoulder from behind, he wasted no time, he stood up, turning to land a punch right in their face.
Izuku froze eyes wide. Todoroki stumbled backwards holding his now bleeding nose.
Yet...
He didn’t feel anything. Izuku didn’t feel the least bit bad. No guilt. No worry about the trouble he was in. Nothing, Izuku felt nothing.
Why should he anyways? Feel guilty? Everyone in this school deserved to have some sense knocked into them.
Izuku was snapped out of his thoughts when he instantly felt weak, his quirk put on pause, the familiar feeling of his teacher’s quirk.
That’s when he came out of his zone, noise returning to his ears, his eyes darting around the room. His peers all shocked, mouths slack, eyes wide, some starting to cry from the disturbing scene.
Izuku heard it then... it was Momo. She was kneeling over Monoma who was silent on the floor behind him. “You... his- his face... we need... we need an ambulance...”
How pathetic. Izuku thought. But instantly felt a sour taste in his mouth. He had just thought that? He had just beat up his classmate half to death and he goes and says it’s pathetic to himself. Izuku slowly dragged his gaze to Aizawa.
Aizawa’s usually stern eyes shaken. Had Izuku really become such a monster?
No.
No they were the real monsters.
Sure Izuku was monster too, but at least he could see that. They, on the other hand, were disgustingly ignorant.
“Izuku Midoriya, you better hope the other teachers let you stay in this school. Because right now you’re expelled in my book.” Aizawa spoke loudly. Using his scarf to immobilize Izuku’s hands behind his back.
Yet Izuku still felt numb. His arms yanked roughly as he followed Aizawa out of the gym. It felt like he was watching the world around him in slow motion now. Everyone distressed. Teachers rushing in for aid.
Aizawa dragged him along, outside past the gym grounds. Moving towards the main buildings. Not saying a word. Then Izuku saw him. It was Allmight. He was standing in front of the dorms. He was standing right near where... where Kacchan...
Izuku snapped, yanking away from Aizawa’s scarf. He ran, he didn’t care if his teacher took his quirk. He ran with all the muscles in his body. The second he was out of sight he bolted faster, a streak of green lightning.
The last noise he heard was a faint “Midoriya” from his mentor. Or old mentor. How could he listen to anything he had to say now.
He kept going, he didn’t want to stop, he wanted to keep running. Running away from everyone, everything that happened, run away from it all.
Izuku felt tears prick his eyes, he missed the way it was. He missed his childhood. He missed Kacchan. It was so much simpler then. But he couldn’t. He couldn’t go back. He had to go forward. He had to change the here and now.
His heart pounded in his ears. His chest rising and falling rapidly as he finally reached the edges of the city.
That’s it. He had to change it. He had to change the here and now. He had to make them realize.
He had to make them realize that they are the true monsters.
The so called heroes who had first failed Kacchan when he was attacked by the sludge villain. Everyone just sat back and watched Kacchan slowly sofficate. He would have died then if it wasn’t for his actions and Allmight’s. The other “heroes” didn’t jump in, because the sludge villain was apparently too strong, or their quirk wouldn’t effect it well enough to matter.
Lies.
Izuku had acted without a quirk and helped buy Kacchan time. The “heroes” that day were to worried about themselves to help.
But now even Allmight’s facade fades away.
Izuku didn’t even notice but he was laughing. A cruel laugh slipped past his lips as his tears still streamed down his face in remembrance of the pain.
Kacchan was suffering and dying inside for months, under everyone’s nose, yet no one even cared to turn a caring eye. Not even Allmight.
“Not even Allmight...” Izuku choked out.
Not even allmight was a hero anymore. Not after letting Kacchan slip away. Not after neglecting to mentor him too. Not after pushing aside Kacchan’s outbursts as mere anger issues, rather than a sigh of emotional distress, PTSD, or depression. The signs were there.
Izuku knew now. He knew what his purpose was.
He had to open their eyes.
Open their eyes to the self diluted monsters their “heroes” had become.
