Chapter 38: Blessings and Beginnings

Notes:

This is the end of of the first part of Mynashi's story but I've got a few chapters of their adventure together written already so I'll be posting those as part 2 of the series. I appreciate all your comments, feedback, input and ideas. This was my first time trying anything like that and honestly it has been so much fun. That is because of all of you. As always all mistakes are my own and if you notice any of em just lemme know and I'll get em fixed as I want your reading experience to be a good one. Hope to see you all again on the next story and if anybody has any requests or things they'd like to see incorporated just lemme know. I'm totally up for some collab :) Thanks again!!!!

Follow Me There by Third Day

You need a place where you can find some shelter
Follow me there, follow me there
You want a hand to hold, someone to help you
Follow me there, come on, follow me there

Where love, like a river, flows
Peace like you've never known
And joy never ending lives
A place where faith can find
Hope that will never die
Follow me there, come on, follow me there

You need a place to be your sanctuary
Follow me there, come on, follow me there
Where you can lay down all those burdens you carry
Follow me there, come on, follow me there

Where the lost can find salvation
And the lonely finds a friend
Where the sinner finds forgiveness
Won't you follow me there
Won't you follow me there

Chapter Text

The next few months passed like a blur. Hundreds of arrests were made in what turned out to be the largest and longest Omega trafficking, abuse, and breeding operation in Japan’s history. Several within the government, high finance and even hero professions were ousted as their participation was also discovered.

Most acknowledged their culpability, admitted their guilt and accepted their sentences privately rather than face public trial and the shame and humiliation that it brought with it. Myna thought it cowardly, angry that they would never have to face the Omega’s they had brutalized, but after speaking to Lakshmi and many of the others, she came to understand that it was actually a kindness the government was doing them allowing them not to ever have to face their abusers and giving them a quiet and peaceful ending to a horrific situation.

Myna didn’t understand, but then again, she’d never been beaten, abducted, raped or forcefully bred either. She half expected the ordeal to end in weeks of television coverage, public outrage and protests in the streets. None of that happened though. It did not end with a roar, it ended with a whisper.

There was no news coverage about all the families whose lives had been torn apart at the discovery of the illegality of their adoptions, nor was there outrage at the conspiracy which had hidden the treatment of the Omegas or the forced breeding and eventual abductions of their children for nearly two decades. The streets weren’t filled with people marching in protest. Everything had just gone on as if nothing happened.

But across the country families were disrupted and fractured as years of lies were revealed, none more so than young Yaoyorozu. The beautiful young Alpha missed nearly two weeks of school following the incident and when she returned, she was quieter and harder.

Myna worried so much about the girl, but Shouta had been on top of it. He really was a great teacher she acknowledged despite what she’d thought of him the day she’d met Kota. He’d scheduled individual training sessions with her and had even taken her out on patrol with him a few times. He assured Myna that though she was impacted by everything that had transpired, the girl was channeling it appropriately using the anger and pain she felt as motivation to become a hero to ensure that it never happens again. He’d promised to keep watching and Myna knew that if the girl ever started to show any signs of her resolve cracking he’d be there. More importantly, Momo knew that too.

Myna sat looking out at the street below in a gorgeous apartment listening as the sounds of her mate and stepson sampling music echoed throughout the space. She felt irate and angry at the injustice of it all. She had been so very lucky to have been given the love of so many good and protective Alphas when so many others had been brutalized without regard.

Her late parents then Chris and Claire, Tanaka, Shouta, Hibiki, Ectoplasm, Hisayoshi and especially Hizashi all were Alphas who had loved her unconditionally and protected her from all the unpleasantries of the world that they could. All Myna wanted to do was be worthy of that love.

She couldn’t stop the melancholy clouds from rolling in; she had taken another pregnancy test and yet again, was disappointed. She had allowed herself to hope then almost believe that Eri had possibly ‘fixed’ her and since then had been actively trying with her mate to get pregnant. Yet the harshness of reality was looming. She might not ever be able to have what she most wanted afterall.

Myna was grateful. She was… or at least she tried to be. This was the time of year to be thankful for everyone afterall, but she couldn’t help but want more. With the shake of her head she banished those thoughts forcing herself to remember all the blessings that she had been given.

She had a kind, gentle and supportive mate. She’d been welcomed into a wonderful family, her adopted parents had moved closer to her, her friends had become family and her family had grown thanks to Hisayoshi. She thanked the heavens for the ease of the blending of the family with him and knew that a lot of that was due to his mother’s effort – though the immature jealous part of her still hated her just little bit.

She, who’d struggled financially for so long now lived in relative luxury. She who’d once tried to remain invisible, now had a large social media presence and some might even say achieved minor celebrity status. She had security financially, professionally and romantically and almost all of this was Hizashi’s doing. In fact, at the root of all the things she considered blessings this year was her mate.

Hizashi was perfect, at least Myna thought so. She was sure Shouta would and could argue otherwise, but he was a good son, a good teacher, dedicated hero and radio host, doting father and absolutely devoted mate. He didn’t fit the societal ideals of what it was to be an Alpha. He was smaller, kinder, friendlier and less intimidating, but still he was an Alpha through and through. Her mate could and did get jealous, possessive, sometimes overly agitated and Myna was the only one that could truly calm his animal. That brought her immense pride.

She was watching the people moving below, thinking of all the ways she could show him how much she appreciated him when he wrapped his long tattooed arms around her. Breathing into her ear “Penny for your thoughts?”

She smiled and hummed squeezing his arms with hers “Just thinking about how thankful I am for everything. For you.” She kissed his hand “Everything good in my life is because of you.”

He shrugged nonchalantly “Happy to do it, sweetness. I’d give you the world if you’d let me.”

She turned to face him “Zashi, do you realize its been almost a year since we met? It’s like so much has happened and yet it’s only been a year. It feels like we’ve been together forever, and yet, like we’ve only just started dating. Am I making any sense?”

He laughed, “I feel the same way. Like you’ve always been a part of my life.”

“Yeah! Like that! I’m thinking about all the craziness this year brought and what changes or challenges next year will bring. And I was thinking about something else…”

His eyes sparkled knowing by now that she’d been working herself up ask for something. He’d deny her nothing and he hoped that deep down she knew that, but he did like the adorable way she always had to build up her courage to ask. So, he let her talk.

“I know I always do a big holiday to-do, but this year, just for this one, can it just be you and me?” she looked away before adding “It’s not that I don’t love your parents or Yoshi or even my family, but I just really miss you and me. You haven’t slowed down at work, and somehow, I wound up working more than I did before and then Yoshi came along and … I-I just thought maybe this year we could go out and have a romantic dinner just the two of us. Would that be okay? I promise I’ll still do Christmas, but I want this one just for us.”

He smiled, “Of course we can.” But then he frowned “Are, baby, are you feeling…” he trailed off pushing Myna away so he could watch her “Love, what’s wrong?” he asked now very serious.

“It was negative.” She whispered. “It was negative again. What if…”

She couldn’t finish because true to his nature, didn’t let her. He cut her off with a slow and loving kiss “Then we adopt or we don’t, but whatever we do, we’ll do it together. Yeah?”

Myna shook her head “You’re just such a great dad, I wanna give you that. I know it’s wrong, but I really hate Kei for that a little bit.” She was pouting now and it was everything the Alpha had to not laugh.

“You, jealous baby?” he asked trying to hide his face by pulling her to his chest again. When she huffed a muffled “maybe” out his manly resolve began to crumble. He chuckled and when she stomped her little foot demanding that he not laugh at her informing him that it ‘wasn’t funny’ a glitch in his programming occurred and it made him laugh harder. She was just so damned cute.

“I’m serious, Hizashi Yamada!” she said angrily though, in his eyes, the tiny little woman with her big sparking eyes might as well have been a stuffed animal she was just so precious all he wanted to do was squish her, so that’s what he did… still laughing.

Yoshi came down stairs to find the cause of the laughter, but only chastised his dad when he saw what was going on. “Dad, you’re not supposed to laugh when they get mad, it only makes ‘em madder.”

Hizashi couldn’t stop “I know son. I know. And you’re right, but when they get like this.” He pointed his head downward toward his Omega. They’re just so cute. I can’t help it.”

Yoshi went into the kitchen “And you definitely aren’t supposed to say they’re cute when they’re mad. Geesh dad even I know that. I’m gonna grab some grub and go back up to my room. You’re on your own with this old man.”

Hizashi gasped and made a fake and overly exaggerated expression “I am not OLD!!!” he stuttered and Myna lost all her self-righteous anger. Giggling she muffled “Wweeelllll….” And Hizashi began to tickle her relentlessly.

“Et tu Brute?” When their son was safely inside his room again, Hizashi kissed her again. “I am getting older, much as I hate to admit it.”

She sighed “We all are.”

“You okay if it’s just the two of us getting old together?”

“That’s how it’s supposed to be isn’t it? The two of us sitting on porch swings yelling at kids to get off our lawns? The grand kids’ll come see us on the holidays and the rest of the time-.”

“I’ll get you all to myself” he finished. “Sounds like heaven to me.”

She thought about that for a moment “Me too. Plus, I can’t wait to see you still trying to get into leather pants when your old and using a walker.”

He laughed rubbing his hand down his face “Am I enough?”

She kissed him chastely “You, my dear mate, are too much!”

He stood up holding out his hand and pulling her to her feet. He led her to bed and held her in their afterglow until she was fully asleep.

Three weeks later Hizashi surprised her with an outfit that she was sure to be illegal in public. It was basically just a scarf held together with a rhinestone covered clasp which rested just over her public bone. The deep V of the dress showed everything all the way down to and past her naval and the material barely reached her thighs.

It was made of a shiny silvery black material that flowed loosely over her shoulders but did nothing to hid the pertness of her hardened nipples.

He knelt before her and slipped her feet into a pair of very expensive red soled studded boots and topped it off with a black pearl necklace and his black fedora hat. Stepping away from his creation he lost his grin. “This won’t work. Something’s missing.”

“Yeah like the rest of the dress! I’m practically show everybody where babies’ come from, honey!”

He walked into the closet returning with what looked like a cigar box. He opened it and sitting in navy blue velvet was a delicate diamond collar. It was magnificent. “Hizashi-“

“May I?” he asked. Myna nodded. He attached the piece of jewelry around her neck and she couldn’t help but run her fingers across it. “I know that you don’t want a bunch of different ones, so I thought maybe you’d wear this one instead.”

“I love it.” She kissed him “But I’m still showing my ass.” She reminded him.

He grabbed her firmly “And what an ass it is. Now c’mon we don’t wanna be late.”

He refused to tell her where they were going, but tonight they traveled by limo. Arriving at an office building they exited the car and headed to the elevator. Hizashi selected the button for the top floor and when they arrived Myna found herself in the most exclusive roof top restaurant in the city.

All eyes were on the couple as they moved. Technically, they were all on Myna. Hizashi followed her taking in, behind his sunglasses, the looks his mate was getting and felt pride knowing that she was admired and wanted by so many and yet he was the only one that got to be with her. He was the only one who’d ever gotten to be with her and that brought on a stronger swell of pride. She was his.

Dinner was fantastic, Hizashi taking the lead and ordering for the two of them. In the candle light she, saw her Alpha, his golden hair shimmering and cascading down his shoulders over his black velvet suit jacket. Underneath he’d chosen a black shirt and tie with only a diamond stud tie tack.

It, honestly, was the most muted she’d ever seen her mate dressed. Even his multiple piercing had been replaced with only diamond studs though admittedly they were large ones. Myna realized that tonight he was letting her shine and in the face of the chilly night air she felt herself warm.

After dinner they enjoyed another limo ride, this time to the same decrepit industrial part of town that she’d been in the night she’d met her mate. “Oh, don’t tell me we’re going back to that club?” she asked trying to figure out where they were headed.

Hizashi laughed. “No… but we could.” He waggled his eyebrows. Myna rolled her eyes with a laugh. Eventually, they stopped in front of what looked like a huge factory and shipyard where two more black town cars sat waiting.

“Babe? What’s going on? Are we okay?” she asked nervously.

Realizing that she was scared, he kissed her. “I’d never let anything happen to you. You know that right?” she nodded her head because she did, in fact, know that to be almost gospel. “Trust me okay?” She nodded again though this time a little more tentatively.

Once stopped the driver opened Hizashi’s door and he helped Myna out of the vehicle. After stepping out she watched wordlessly as Momo and Ming did the same accompanied by two men she’d never seen before. From another car, stepped Toshinori, the commissioner of the hero commission and

“Is that the prime minister???” she whispered. Hizashi smiled and patter her behind urging her forward.

She greeted Ming and Momo like old friends and Toshinori like family. The other four men she greeted them professionally, glad that she had a long coat covering her. The Prime Minister began to speak, as one of the men with Ming unlocked the gate and pushed it open.

Everyone followed. The politician spoke of the injustices that had been done and still are being done to Omegas round the world. He looked at All Might, then to Ming then to Myna. He stopped and thanked them all for everything they’d done for these victims doing so with a deep deep bow. Myna felt the need to stop him, but taking her cue from Ming, she said nothing holding her head high her like this happened everyday.

Eventually, the man rose and when they found themselves at the edge of the water, he explained everything.

“The magnitude of the debt which the people in this country owe those individuals can never be fully paid. Though we are carrying out further investigations, we still haven’t located all the children birthed by those poor souls, nor have we been able to locate all those declared missing. The likelihood, I’m afraid, is that they are lost to us forever. But the government wants to make reparations and we’d like to start here with all of you.”

“The Yamaguchi family has donated this and the neighboring properties to serve as the future site of an Omega oriented community.”

“A-a what? I’m sorry like a concentration camp?” Myna was terrified that this was the plan, but Ming stepped forward taking Myna’s hand in hers and walking a few steps closer to the water.

“No, my dear. A community. One in which Omega’s can live and learn and work in peace and protection.” She said looking out over the water. “A place that shouldn’t have to exist, but clearly needs to. Our family, as you know, has a debt to more than just Akida.”

Myna looked at Ming so she continued “That is my granddaughter’s mother’s name. She bore and had stolen from her eight children. We’ve only found two but” she sighed “We will not give up on finding the others.”

Myna’s heart was breaking “and Momo? Is she…?” she knew she wasn’t okay how could she be, but the older Omega understood and looked back at her granddaughter who was watching them intently

“She will be. It will take time, but yes, she will be.” Myna was thankful that the girl had such a strong woman in her life. “You understand, we must do this for them. For all those who’ve fallen that we don’t know about and those who might yet fall prey to those charged with our protection. It must be done, child.”

Myna understood and agreed. She squeezed Ming’s frail hand “Of course.” They two turned to the group and the prime minister continued.

“The government will fund and expedite the demolition and construction of a park, health center, living quarters, and school. There will also be offices and shops for employment opportunities for Omegas living within the community until eventually society can see them as equals.”

The commissioner spoke next. “The hero commission, as I’m sure you’re aware, has a certain stain upon us brought about by the actions of some within our department. We will begin integrating Omega’s into the commission and every hero will be required Omega specific sensitivity training. New heroes will be required to patrol this and other Omega centered communities so there will be protection around the clock as well. All Might has agreed to come forward and share his own experiences with the world in hopes that attitudes will begin to change.”

“What about the police?” Myna asked “Heroes can only do so much.”

Toshinori answered. “Tanaka agreed to transfer departments so that he may oversee the officers in this area. He received a promotion which will keep him behind the desk- he’s not too happy about that part of it-” he said with a slight chuckle “But he’s been given the opportunity to hand select and guide new officers straight out of the academy so that he can ensure their training and proper handling of situations in the future that involve Omegas or pups. He’s actually quite excited.”

Then Hizashi moved next to her “Myna, they want you to be a part of this.”

“Me? How?” she stammered.

“We need an Omega to represented all Omegas. Someone who is and always had been open in their secondary gender” the Prime Minster said looking at Toshinori. “Someone who the public knows and accepts. Someone with credentials both within law enforcement as well as education. Someone whom these individuals will know they can look to for acceptance and protection.”

“Wh- Wh- Excuse me…” she walked away a few steps before turning to her mate “Hizashi, what the actual hell? I’m a translator! I’m not qualified”

He cut her off, “Babe, you are the first person those pups and Omega moms saw. They trust you. You are one of them and you are a good guy. Or at least have the good guys on your side. You’re approval ratings are through he roof. This is a good thing.”

She looked back at the people who’d heard everything since they were only steps away and saw them all bobbing their heads in agreement. “What about work? I don’t wanna leave the kids.”

“You wouldn’t have to. Your services might still be required at the station occasionally but there are other translators, Mrs. Yamada.” The Prime minister answered before continuing.

“Your work at UA with the young men and women who will one day take over for all of us is paramount. This will simply replace the hours you spend working for the police.”

“May I please speak to my Alpha about this, sir?” she asked. He nodded but added.

“Of course, but we do have a campaign ready to roll out as soon as tomorrow if you agree. Your expedience would be greatly appreciated.”

She nodded and pulled Hizashi several meters away. Picking up a few rocks throwing them into the water she asked “Be honest… what do you think.”

“I think you should do it. You’re a natural. You are someone that Omegas everywhere can trust. They know you’d never…”

“I get it I’m an Omega.” she snapped “Typical in every way. I’d never lie, I’d never hurt someone, I’d always accept and love pups and I’d never turn my back on anyone in need... cause that’s what a good little Omega does, right?”

Hizashi wasn’t baited though “Yes.” He said simply. “Because you wouldn’t lie, or hurt someone on purpose, and you’d walk barefoot over glass before you left a pup alone and scared. You know that, Myna.”

She was angry because he was right. She sometimes hated when he was right even if that were illogical. “What if I screwed up? I could set things back for Omegas everywhere.”

He hugged her “That’s why it has to be you. Because you won’t. And Tosh is gonna go public. He’ll be right there with ya and more importantly, you’ll be out there with him.” He tossed his head back at the lumbering blonde Omega.

“I know what you’re doing. Playing on my better nature is unfair.”

Hizashi kissed her forehead “Yeah… but it’s working, huh?”

She tip-toed and kissed him back quickly before returning to the group “Yes, Mr. Prime Minister I will do it.”

“Excellent. Then we are all in agreement. We will hold a press conference tomorrow afternoon. Let us all retire and we can meet again here tomorrow. My staff will send you all the details directly. Thank you. I believe with all our effort this will be a fruitful endeavor.” With that he, the commission and Toshinori walked back to their car and left.

Ming and Momo said their goodbyes and left as well and when Hizashi and Myna returned to their car she was giddy with nervous excitement. “Wanna head home now?”

Myna shook her head “No way, I’ve got too much energy now. I wanna go dancing.”

Hizashi gave her a hungry look accompanied by a deep kiss one during which he allowed his hands to unbutton her coat and wander across her body. A few moments later her lowered the glass between the seats and gave the address to the driver returning his attention to Myna. He began to suckle on her neck and in a low gravely wanting voice he whispered,

“I know just the place.”

Notes:

First time writing here. Following brain surgery (and too much time in the hospital rereading old Patricia Briggs novels as well as being introduced to and subsequent binging of My Hero Academia) my neurologist suggested I try my hand at writing to assist with regaining my cognitive faculties as well as aiding in the improvement of my fine motor skills and vision. Not sure if I'm doing any of this correctly, but thought "what the heck." Any and all feedback is welcome. and I hope ya'll enjoy this not so little story and if you want anything to be included lemme know.
