Chapter Text

Going over his mental checklist of the quirks he's accumulated, Izuku walked down the streets with the groceries his mom had asked him to get. While walking he heard a commotion from an alleyway. Turning into the alley he discovers a group of high-school students beating up another kid.

"Villains like you should learn their place! You'll never be anything but a villain so don't even bother trying to be anything else!"

Izuku felt a shiver down his spine from the irritation coming off Akatani-Sama.

"Is this really how kids these days act? This is really what happened after I spent my entire life fighting for equality. Izuku you have to step in and fix this."

Taking a deep breath Izuku walked into the alleyway, clearing his throat to gain their attention.

"What's going on here?"

The leader of the assailants clicks his tongue in irritation.

"Move along kid, we're just teaching this villain his place."

"Oh? Are you now? Under whose authority? Do you even have a legal license to do so? What crime has he committed for you to assault him? Because from where I stand the only villains here are you and your two lackeys. Perhaps I should call a hero and the police and inform them of this? From those bruises on him, if I'd have to guess, I'd say you were using your quirks on him. If that's the case then well, I doubt I'd have to tell you the consequences judging but the looks on your faces."

Somewhere during his little speech, the leader started growling at him, before snapping at his lackeys to attack him. The first of the two lackeys seemed to have a metal nail quirk while the other had a metal jaw quirk. As the two lackeys charged at him the past year of acupuncture training with Akatani-Sama came in handy as he swiftly dodged both of them pressing harshly into their pressure points, to paralyze their bodies, before turning to the leader.

"We can either do this the easy way or," cracking his knuckles and neck giving the leader a smirk "we can do this the hard way"

"Do it Izuku kick these brats asses." Hikaru called out to Izuku

Unfortunately for Hikaru, it seemed the bully was smart enough to know when he was outmatched. Growling out, as he helped his lackeys up.

"You better not get comfy with your little boyfriend you villain! Next time he won't be there to help you!"

And with that, he and his goons went off running with their tails in between their legs. Turning his attention to the kid on the ground.

"Hey, are you ok?"

The kid looks up at him speculatively.

"Why'd you help me."

An eyebrow raised at the question Izuku gives him his reason.

"Because that's what a hero would do, I plan on going to U.A. in a few years so it only makes sense that if I see injustice I'll try to fix it."

The boy only grunts at him from the ground.

"If you don't mind me asking why were they calling you a villain? As far as I can tell the real villains were them."

Mumbling the boy only says.

"My Quirk"

The look he gets from Izuku could be compared to that of a lost puppy.

"What's your quirk? Cause unless it causes death I doubt it makes you a villain and even then it isn't the quirk that makes a hero or villain, it’s the person's character that does."

The boy is silent for a moment before speaking again.

"My Quirk is called Brainwashing, if I ask a question and someone responds they become under my control."

Once he's told Izuku his quirk he tenses up waiting for the cruel comments that are to come. Instead of anything cruel all he gets is a thoughtful humming.

"I think that's a perfect quirk for heroics, you can easily end a conflict with little violence, talk down villains, and possibly help someone in a panic attack."

The boy just looks up at him in awe before tearing up.

"T-thank you.."

Izuku smiles at him and offers him a hand up.

"I'm Izuku Midoryia, what's yours?”

The boy taking his hand and standing up smiles back at him.

“Hitoshi Shinsou.”

Smiling at the two boys, Hikaru watches them interacting, glad that Izuku’s made another friend.

“So Shinsou-Kun, what do you want to be after high school?”

“I’ve always wanted to be a hero, if not out of spite for those that said I couldn’t but to help those that grew up as I did.”

“You’re a goddamn slave driver Izuku!”

Hikaru cackled “ If only he knew what I put you through ey little ZuZu

Izuku shivered remembering the training that Akatani-Sama put him through these last couple of years

Flashback,  2 years ago

“Come on kid! You don’t think you’ll be able to become a hero with a worthless body like yours do you?!”

Izuku merely groans in pain as he sits up.

“Akatani-Sama! This is too much! My bones are on fire!”

“Ha! If you have the energy to complain you have the energy to do another 500 strikes! Come on, kid!”

For the past week Akatani-Sama had Izuku throw as many strikes as he could within an hour, they’ve managed to get it up to 500, but with the force needed to keep within that time Izuku’s muscles are constantly strained. Their end goal for him was to be able to strike a hundred times within 30 seconds. To stay on track he’d need to be able to strike 12,000 times an hour. For any ordinary man, this would be impossible to even consider, however, Izuku recently received a passive speed, as well as a passive muscle memory quirk, allowing him to increase the amount of strikes he’s able to throw in a second, the only issue is, of course, he needs to train his body long and hard to be able to do so.

Grunting through his pain Izuku stands up and gets into his striking position before starting the exercise once more.

“Come on kid! How are you expecting to do damage without any muscle!! Get up and give me another 1,000!”

Izuku silently prays to any cosmic power to end his suffering as he raises himself off to do another 1,000 push-ups, sit-ups, and burpees, all while analyzing the newest quirks he’s found, active quirks this time, a fire breath and ice breath pair of quirks. With each quick, he analyzes he can feel his main quirk RNGFO. At first, he wasn’t sure why Akatani-Sama called it that, but then she gave him a history lesson on her past.

Present

Chuckling at his friend’s antics “oh come on now Toshi, you’re a string bean you need to build up muscle and learn how to fight, you can’t only rely on your Quirk”

Receiving a groaning from his friend “easy for you to say, you could analyze an opponent in the middle of a fight and use their quirk against them!”

Sighing Izuku shakes his head. “Toshi you know that’s not how my Quirk works, firstly, the quirks I’m able to use in battle are always randomized every time I activate it. And secondly, for a new quirk to be in the pool of available quirks, I’d need more time analyzing it then possible in a battle setting, I would need to study and analyze my opponent at least days if not weeks beforehand.”

Hitoshi just gives him a deadpan look.

“And who’s to say that once you’ve perfected your analysis skillset that you won’t be able to do so in battle? Plus while yeah it’s randomized you still have all the passive quirks that give you an edge over everyone else, you literally can never fight quirkless unless fighting Eraserhead.”

“True however that’s not the point here, the point here is that you’ll need to know how to take down opponents that your quirk doesn’t work against, after all, how are you doing to use your quirk on someone who’s mute or even deaf?”

Groaning “I hate it when you’re right”

“Oh hush you, you know you love me.”

Rolling his eyes Hitoshi sits up with a groan.

“Whatever, it’s getting late, your Mom’s probably gonna be worried about us being out so late.”

“Yeah you’re right we should start heading back now.”

Izuku still remembers the day his Mom met Hitoshi like it was yesterday.

2 months ago , 2 weeks after Izuku meet Hitoshi

Entering his home with Hitoshi, Izuku calls out to his mother.

“Kaa-San! I’m home and I brought my friend!,” turning to Hitoshi, “you can just make yourself at home I’m gonna go change.”

Walking in Hitoshi looked around the apartment noticing the abundance of photos of Izuku and his mom together, but the seeming lack of any photos of his dad, Hitoshi knows the subject of his dad is a sore one for Izuku so he chooses to ignore that. As he makes his way to the living room Hitoshi notices a fairly short green-haired woman sitting at a table with a cup of coffee and working through some paperwork. She seems to notice him before looking up and smiling up at him.

“Hello there dear, you must be Hitoshi Shinsou. Izuku’s told me so much about you.”

Despite not knowing much about her, other than Izuku loves his mother more than anything, Hitoshi knows he’d die for this woman ‘Is that her quirk?’ Hitoshi absently thinks while nodding.

“Hello, Midoriya-San, it’s nice to meet you.”

As he said that Izuku reemerges from his room.

“Oh, Shinsou-Kun are you hungry? I can make us something to eat before we go to start training to help you for when we take the entrance exam.”

“Oh um that’s would be nice”

Inko watches the interaction with a knowing smile but says nothing about it before turning to her son.

“I’ll go make you both something to eat sweetie, you just relax with your friend before you leave to start your training, lord knows the young man’s gonna need it for what you’ll put him through.”

Getting up and heading to the kitchen not noticing Hitoshi’s panicked look that he shoots towards her and her son.

“What does she mean by that?”

Hitoshi is starting to get worried, Midoriya-san made it sound like he’ll be put through hell on earth.

“Oh well, the training I’ve been doing has been super intense, but don’t worry we’ll work on the basics with you and help you build up to where I am, though your regime will have to be a bit different to fit your taller and slender frame.”

Absently nodding as they both talk about how school has been for them, Hitoshi mostly since Izuku took his high-school classes online and already finished them all, by the time Hitoshi finished ranting about the latest of his bullies Inko returned with food for all three of them. Unknown to Hitoshi, Inko had heard him talk about his bullies.

Once their food was eaten Izuku volunteered to clean up, taking the dishes and starting to wash them, Inko turned to Hitoshi.

“Shinsou-Kun?”

He looks at her giving her his attention.

“I heard what you said earlier,” she notices him tense up, “I want you to know if you need anything my and Izuku are here for you, if you need legal help for whatever reason I’m a lawyer and I’ll happily help you, you’re my son’s first friend in a very long time.” she looks him in the eyes as she speaks.

Hitoshi’s at a loss of words and just merely nods, before softly speaking

“Thank you.”

Present

As they walked to Izuku and his mom’s apartment Izuku watched everyone they pass by looking to see if he could find any interesting quirks he’d like to have in his repertoire. Unfortunately for Izuku, he didn’t find any that piqued his interest on the walk home and it was a fairly quiet night with no villain attacks. Choosing to enjoy the moment of peace and quiet for once, Izuku, Hitoshi and Inko enjoyed their dinner while conversing about the day’s events.
