Chapter Text

Katsuki slowly slides the door open, stepping inside on soft feet. He didn’t know if Izuku would be asleep or not, but walking over to the bed he sees the green haired man blearily staring out the hospital window, and he breathes a sigh of relief. “Hey,” he says quietly, setting his bag down as he slides into the only chair. Izuku turns slowly to him, a small smile lighting up his face as he looks at Katsuki. He has horrible bed head, so Katsuki figures he must have woken up only recently.

“Hey,” he says back. Katsuki can see Izuku’s hands clenching from where they were resting on his lap, and his stomach slowly began to form knots. He remembers the doctor’s assuring him last night that Izuku would be fine--that fainting sometimes happened and he had to go home now--but, were they lying to him. Had Izuku’s condition actually taken a serious turn for the worse?

“Izuku--” he starts, but the other quickly shakes his head.

“It’s okay,” he says, his voice cracking, causing Katsuki’s heart to pound. “I know you probably want to break up now and that’s--”

Katsuki’s breath catches in his throat. He literally cannot hear the words the man before him is speaking and he cannot stop an angry laugh from escaping him in the next moment. “The fuck?” Katsuki says, absolute bewilderment on his face. “What in the living fuck are you talking about Izuku. When did I ever say that? What in the bloody fuck made you even think that?” He asks.

“Well… it’s just,” Izuku flounders.

“Yeah? Go on,” Katsuki sneers, leaning back in his seat as he crosses his arms across his chest.

“Well…” Izuku trails off again, before mumbling out, “I thought, after seeing how it can get… you might not… might not want to deal with…” he trails off.

“That’s some grade-a bullshit if I’ve ever heard it,” Katsuki says, rolling his eyes. “Izuku. Izuku look at me,” he says, staring down the man in front of him, “if I was fucking tired of you--you’d fucking know it. You think I hang out with people I don’t like--you think I’d love someone and then get annoyed at them for a thing they can’t control? Who the fuck do you think you’re talking to? Cut that bullshit out,” he says, leaning forward with every word until he’s so close to Izuku. “I love you, you dumb fuck. All of you. Idiot,” and with that last little insult, he lightly kisses Izuku before plopping back down into his seat.

Izuku stares at him for a moment, hands clenching the blanket, before giving Katsuki such a large smile Katsuki’s astounded he doesn’t catch on fire from how bright it is.

“Yeah, I guess I was being a little silly there.”

Katsuki shrugs. “I guess it’s a good thing you got me to snap you the fuck outta it.”

Izuku laughs. “Yeah. Lucky me.” And then he snatches Katsuki’s shirt, dragging him into a deep kiss.

---

Izuku is released from the hospital later that day, the doctors giving him some new dieting plans that should help his condition and an appointment in three days to make sure everything really is fine.

Though Izuku doesn’t know if he’s going to be able to face his doctors again. When asked if Izuku had been doing any vigorous exercise, Katsuki had had the audacity--the gaul!--to snort under his breath and say, “yeah, you could say that.”

How is Izuku supposed to recover from that??? Luckily the doctor pretended not to hear, but they’d all clearly heard the man--he wasn’t exactly the quiet sort.

As the two walked out of the hospital, Izuku promptly punches him in the arm as hard as he can.

“You’re sleeping on the couch,” he sneers.

“Aw, come on babe. I really didn’t mean to,” Katsuki says while trying to hold back his laughter. “It just slipped out--I swear.”

“I hate you so much right now.”

“Lies, but okay.”

---

“Katsuki! Come on! You’re such a slow poke!” Izuku says, waving his arms wildly as he stands at the entrance of the very same nature sanctuary the two had gone to during Izuku’s first motorcycle ride. Katsuki turns from having secured their helmets, stunned for a moment as the sunlight hits Izuku just right, making him appear etherial to Katsuki’s eyes for just a few seconds.

He smiles to himself slightly, before sighing as loud as he can. “Hold your fucking horses! I’m coming, I’m coming.”

Izuku waits for him to catch up, and, lacing their hands together, Katsuki whispers, “I love you.”

Izuku takes the first step, a smile on his face as bright as the sun shining above their heads, and whispers back, “I love you, too.”

Notes:

this idea literally came out of no where and slapped me in the face demanding to be written so... here we go?

this was also supposed to be a one-shot but... mistakes were made and that's defo not happening now.

Am I writing this instead of the story I've had in the works for about a year now? Yep, sure am!

Also I'm so sorry if Katsuki is OOC he's very hard for me to write for cus he's not the kind of character I'm used to

Stay safe everyone!! Don't forget your masks!!
