Bewitched

Chapter Text

Cat was enjoying her date with Astra so much that she didn’t want the night to end.

“Would you like the bill now or would you like the dessert menu?” asked their server as she took the plates from their table.

Cat went to say the dessert menu but Astra beat her to it and asked for the bill. At that, Car felt dejected and picked her purse up to pay. Astra, using her fast reflexes to pick up the bill and put in her credit card.

She looked at Cat and said, “I asked you out so it’s only fair that I pay for dinner. Also, I have a surprise for you and that’s why we can’t stay for dessert. I will get you ice cream though. You know, I think that it’s lame that your favorite ice cream flavor is mint, I mean that’s the same as eating toothpaste right!!!!???”

Smiling that the night was far from over, Cat swat at her ridiculous date, “Oh really, you think that’s lame, your go to flavor is strawberry, I mean, that’s the same as being as boring as a vanilla person.”

“Who are you calling boring?? I’ll have you know that I’m very adventurous, in every way possible,” she said that last part with a smile and a slightly breathy tone as she held Cat’s hand to prevent her from hurting herself.

Once her card was brought back, Astra stood and pulled Cat’s chair and held out her hand to usher her out.

“So, where to next,” asked Cat.

Astra just smiled, “you’ll see.” And moved to an alley where she could take off without anyone seeing them.

Astra took Cat to a quant ice cream shop, “all about iscream” and Cat couldn’t hold back the snicker as she saw Astra open the door for her muttering, Ladies first.

“I’m guessing Kara showed you this place because I can’t for the life of me see you enter such a place alone for the first time.”

“What can I say, my niece may have questionable food choices but she sure has a taste for fine women.”

Cat couldn’t believe what she’d just heard, “oh, do you fancy a certain CEO too??”

“Of course I do otherwise I wouldn’t have brought her here. Now would I????”

Blushing, Cat just pretended to pick a thread from Astra’s cardigan.

Astra went to the counter said their order and paid for it.

“Here, you carry this and then I can carry you,” as she said this, she hoisted Cat up in a bridal manner and took off.

Cat’s shrieks could be heard as she was unprepared and didn’t expect Astra to just do that.

Astra put Cat down on a spread out blanket that she prepared before their dinner. The blanket sat on a hill facing National City and the lights from the city below created a serene and beautiful atmosphere.

“This is my go to place when the whole city becomes too loud and I need to decompress. It’s also the easiest place for me to see Rao because it’s not hidden by the artificial lights of the city,” Astra said as she pointed upwards where Cat could make out a tiny red star.

Taking Astra’s hands in hers, she kissed the knuckles and looked her in the eyes, “thank you for sharing that with me.”

When they finished their ice cream, Astra just held Cat and enjoyed the quiet night. When it suddenly got too chilly, Astra took Cat and flew her to her home where Cat invited her in for some hot cocoa.

She knew Carter was visiting with his father in Metropolis so she didn’t care if Astra spent the night or not, all she knew was she needed the company and the Kryptonian was more than happy to offer comfort.

“Thank you for tonight, I can’t remember the last time anyone took me to a place that amazing or even paid the tab. Most assume that just because I’m rich I have to cater to their needs even though they are the ones who’ve asked me out. So, thank you really.”

“It was my pleasure really. Your company is exhilarating and I have to say, as first dates go, this was amazing. Thank you for agreeing to go out with me.”

“As if I could turn you down. You have the exact puppy dog eyes as your niece an let me tell you, it’s hard saying to that girl.”

“You’re telling me, when she was a child it was worse. I have loved that girl since the day she was born and I have never been able to say no to her. That is how they caught me on Krypton. Her mother knew I’d come whenever Kara called so she made sure to be there when I came and she had me arrested and put in Fort Rozz.”

Cat and Astra spent the majority of the evening just talking and getting to know each other better. It was all going well until Astra heard the sirens, using her super hearing she listened for Kara and heard her niece tell Lena she’ll be back and the saw her fly out.

Turning to Cat, “I have to go but I can assure you, we will finish this date properly.”

Winking at her, Cat asked, “What do you mean by properly?”

Astra already walking towards the balcony turned back at her with a smirk, “well, every date ends with a kiss doesn’t it??? And as far as I can tell, I haven’t had my date yet.” She winked and took off leaving a flustered Cat behind.

Astra was preoccupied with her thoughts of Cat and what she’d like to do that she didn’t notice the glow that encompassed her and settled into her suit protecting her from all things kryptonite.

Shaking her head, she cleared her mind for what was going to be a battle for sure and sped off towards her niece. She hoped they’d all come out unscathed but with their luck, she couldn’t see how that was going to be possible.

At the DEO, Alex and J’onn were at a loss on what to do. There were reports of Cadmus attacks throughout the city and agents had been dispensed all over but it seemed like a losing battle.

Reports started coming of Supergirl battling Metallo and they knew then that they would lose the battle. Not only that, but Lilian seemed to have upped her game. She had super soldiers coming from underneath the city using the tunnels, that even Astra was having a hard time keeping up with all of them.

When it seemed the battle was at a stalemate, Lilian decided it was time to get rid of the two Kryptonians for good. She turned on the Kryptonite embedded in each soldier and they all started glowing green. Kara and Astra looked at each other and knew they were done for.

They waited for a few seconds and realized the Kryptonite wasn’t affecting them at all. Looking at each other, they shrugged, turned to the soldiers and decided they were done playing nice.

Lilian couldn’t believe it, the two rats should have been on the ground writhing in pain but no, they were still beating up her men. Taking a button, she called for more kryptonite armored men.

In the heat of the battle, they all heard a growl and the flutter of wings. Big big wings, attached to a purple and black dragon.

“I’m I seeing this right, is that a fucking dragon??” Alex asked as she walked closer to the monitors; “where the hell did Lilian Luthor get a dragon and how the fuck are we supposed to defeat that thing if Kara and Astra can’t get near it????”

Just as Kara and Astra were prepared to go face the bewitching creature, Kara heard a voice in her head.

“Hello darling”

“Lena?!?!?!?!?”

“I thought you might like some help.”

“Oh my God, when you said you could shape shift I never imagined you’d turn into a dragon. A really really beautiful dragon.”

“Thank you for the compliment my dear but how about we finish up here then we can go get brunch and finish our talk.”

Kara was certain she saw the dragon smirk and wink at her.

“Kara, what’s going on because all we can see is you looking at the intimidating dragon smiling,” Alex’s voice came through her earpiece.

“All’s good Al, she is a friend.”

“How in the fucking hell would you know that? Can you suddenly speak dragon???”

“I’ll tell you later but first, let’s deal with Lilian.”

The battle at the city squire went pretty first with most of Lilian’s super soldiers being fried by the dragon’s fire.

When they were done, Kara, Astra and the dragon flew out to the DEO base in the desert. When they landed, Alex, Maggie, J’onn and several other agents were already there waiting for them.

“What the hell Kara, why did you bring it here?”

Just as she said that, the dragon huffed letting out a tiny purple fire towards Alex who shrieked and moved to stand behind J’onn.

“Lena, be nice.”

“But she called me it.”

“Wait, back up, did you call it, sorry her, Lena???”

“Hi Alex?!?!?!”

“Holy-shit, I can hear her in my head. This is so cool.”

Alex’s only thought was “Holy effing shirt balls.”
