Chapter Text

Jougo Kujo tries to swim in the ocean for the first time when he is ten years old.

Thankfully, he isn’t alone; he’s there with his fathers, Jotaro and Noriaki, carefully watching him and his siblings as they splash around close to shore.

Eventually, though, Jougo decides it’s time to try something a lot more daring.

He makes his way further out into the water, and when it reaches waist deep, he looks out over the vastness of the great blue beyond in front of him. The water looks peaceful, and even at the young age of ten, Jougo can understand why his father loves this place.

When he takes another step forward, though, he gets the shock of his life: he’s stepped on a four foot long sand shark. It’s a harmless little creature, and it only thrashes a little under his foot before swimming away (probably for its life, in its mind), but Jougo screeches and runs back to his fathers so fast, he thinks he imagined it for a second.

His older siblings (mainly Jouta and Jolyne) snicker at this and tease him for being such a baby, but more notably, Jotaro ruffles his hair and smiles down at him, saying “Next time, try not to step on the shark. You were doing fine before then, though.”

It’s praise.

Jougo appreciates it.
