Chapter Text
Part 2.
Dating someone you knew your entire life brought some unexpected advantages with it and some new things Seulgi had never anticipated about Irene.
They had driven home in the cab and Irene turned out to be way more clingy than Seulgi had anticipated. She had clung to her arm on the way up to the apartment, was in contact when they stepped out of their shoes and hung their coats and when Seulgi called out “I’m home!”, she felt Irene fall against her back, her arms around her midsection.
She didn’t complain, her hands for a moment on Irene’s forearms, crossing on her midsection, before waddling into the apartment, the girl attached to her back.
The living room, especially the couch area, was chaos. Joy, Wendy and Yeri sat there, the large TV showing the latest round of Mario Card and they swung around their switch controllers widly; someone got banana-ed on screen and Yeri screeched.
“Revenge!” she hollered and Joy next to her laughed.
In front of them was an iPad, the screen divided into smaller spaces, showing Mamamoo members and Blackpink members.
Seulgi could hear Moonbyul. “Take that, sucker!”
They took it as their cue to slowly move down the hallway to Irene’s room.
Seulgi didn’t feel nervous at all when they arrived at the apartment, but the closer they got to Irene’s door, the more she felt something flutter inside her. It was a good flutter, of course, but it made her sweat and her hands turned clammy.
The feeling increased tenfold when Irene closed the door behind them and turned to look at the other girl.
Seulgi wasn’t afraid of Irene, but she respected her a lot and she knew a lot about her personality. The other girl, her leader, tended to have a one-track personality about things she wanted to have: a perfect choreography, a dress she saw at a shop, a piece of meat one bowl away on the table.
And Seulgi could feel it, that this moment, Irene’s one track mind had honed in on her the moment she closed the door and Irene still clung to her side.
Seulgi on the other hand had very particular ideas about how to court someone. She had thought it all out. Ask Joohyun unnie out. Give her the ring. Maybe a peck to accompany the ring. Date for a year or two, move in together, propose eventually and get married. Seeing Irene topless was on her agenda maybe after the third or fourth date.
Seeing her completely naked maybe after the seventh.
She had seen her naked before, but not naked with a certain kind of purpose in mind. Not like naked with the purpose of staring her or even touching her. It had not even crossed her mind to touch.
Well.
It had. But it had been unrealistic and now it wasn’t. Especially when Joohyun looked at her like this. Like she was lunch.
So far her plan had been thoroughly crushed.
There hadn’t been a date. But yet, Irene had accepted her ring (which made Seulgi happier than anything else) and they had already kissed, which had been … so nice that Seulgi still swooned - and the way Irene looked at her now made her assume that she would see the other girl partially naked sooner than anticipated. Maybe not partially, but even entirely naked.
She had put the date for Irene’s partially nakedness down for March. Maybe April. But currently, it was January. So they were early - and it made Seulgi nervous.
“Unnie …” Seulgi said, the weight against her side growing, as Irene looked up at her. She tried to move towards the chair, but Joohyun wouldn’t let her. Instead she only moved when Seulgi moved towards the bed.
“Hmm? What’s on your mind, Seulgi-yah?”
“We haven’t even gone on a date!” Seulgi whined. It was half-heartedly, sure, but to make that dating agenda for her best friend had taken just so long and she hated to see all her hard work go down the drain.
“On the contrary, haven’t we gone on many dates?” Joohyun asked. “At the Han River, at Cafés, at Restaurants?”
“Yes, but -” Seulgi swallowed heavily, hitting bed. She plopped down and Irene plopped down along with her. “I had a plan to woo you - and we are already way too fast.”
“Woo me?”
Seulgi’s head bobbed up and down. “Yeah - I wanted it to be good. Especially since you don’t like a whole lot of things. It’s better to make a list.”
Irene frowned and leaned back a bit. “I don’t like a whole lot of things?”
“Chicken, for example, so no chicken restaurant. Fireworks and loud sounds, so no firework dates or sudden music. Certain scents, certain noises, no public baths, no hotel rooms that are too high up or too low and no dates where we can’t have Korean food at least once a day,” Seulgi immediately said.
Irene stared at her. “I think we are already married, Seulgi-yah.”
Seulgi shrugged. “I like to be prepared.”
“So do I. So when does your agenda say we can make out?” She leaned closer, and Seulgi watched her deadly smirk appearing once more.
Out of shyness and because it was her habit to lean back when Joohyun tried skinship. “March?” she squeaked when a single finger slid up her collarbone. Before it reached her lips, Seulgi caught the index finger, then unfolded the hand, catching it in hers.
“Maybe we can renegotiate March,” Joohyun suggested, drawing her index finger over Seulgi’s hand.
Seulgi wanted to, but a part of her still refused. She didn’t have much experience - really, didn’t want to have much experience outside of Joohyun, and the months to come would have given her some insight. But Irene - Joohyun unnie - sat next to her and regarded her in a way that made her nervous in a good way.
Seulgi brought the hand she was holding between them and held on tightly, before looking up. “I never - I … you can’t laugh, okay?”
Joohyun frowned. “Why would I laugh?”
“Because of what I’m saying.”
“Seulgi, again, why would I laugh?”
“Because sometimes, when I say something stupid, you laugh at me,” Seulgi said, her voice small.
The girl eyed her, her face blank, and Seulgi stared down at her lap, at where she was holding Irene’s hand. They weren’t even officially dating and she was already making things complicated. No experience, messed up plan, Joohyun believing she was interested in Jisoo - when Seulgi had assumed she had been so obvious about Joohyun.
Instead, she had made the girl confused and worried and had made her run through the rain, risk a cold and her dignity.
A hand touched Seulgi’s chin and made her look up. “So you had to make a plan for me, because I’m so complicated and I laugh at you sometimes.” It didn’t sound accusatory, just sad. And Seulgi could see more affection than usual bleed through Joohyun’s expression. “I’m - I’m very sorry I made you think this.”
“Unnie, it’s not like -”
“I won’t laugh at you,” Joohyun said. “And when you want to try something that I might not be … enthused about, let’s talk about it, okay? I’m sorry you had to go through so much trouble for me. And I’m sorry I - I’m truly, really sorry that I laughed at you in the past. I - you make me laugh, but in the best way possible. I think … I think ...” She looked away for a moment and summoned her self-control. “I think everything you do is amazing. I want to watch what you are doing all the time, because what you are doing is just … so incredible. I … I can only apologize.”
Seulgi took a deep shaky breath at the sight of Joohyun’s dark, kind eyes. One thing that had kept her going was that Joohyun could be strict with many people, but she was never strict with Seulgi. Instead, she was kind around her, and soft, and let her guard down, which was rare for Joohyun in general.
“Okay. Okay. I …” Seulgi took another deep breath. “I - don’t have much experience,” she said. “I never had the wish to … acquire such experience, when there was you … both when it came to kissing and … other stuff.” She shrugged sheepishly. “Since you were around me since I was fifteen, sixteen, I … I mean. You were always there, so … I … didn’t … want … to …” she finished lamely.
Joohyun’s expression was blank, but she could see the universe behind them moving in large, enormous motions and Seulgi had to look away.
“Hahhhhhh,” she breathed out and wanted to stretch her arms away from her, but Joohyun held on to one of them. And still stared at her.
Seulgi tried to stretch again and when Joohyun didn’t let go, almost thickheadedly didn’t let go, Seulgi sheepishly stretched only one hand.
It made Joohyun snort and roll her eyes.
Seulgi continued to look away, shy and embarrassed. “So now you know.”
Joohyun watched her from the side, her expression quizzical. “Since we have started talking about these things, Seul: You do have interest in kissing me, don’t you?”
Seulgi’s head whipped sharply around, and she looked at the blank expression of the older woman. When she couldn’t read her, her eyes narrowed. “Are you making fun of me?”
Irene inhaled. “Seulgi. I’m not making fun of you. In any way,” she added. “I’m just asking so we both know here we stand.”
“Of course I have an interest in kissing you! Unnie! I - kissing you is just so - so -”
Irene leaned forward, brushing her lips against the other girl’s in the faintest of whispers. She leaned back only slightly and then looked up to watch the reaction.
Seulgi had gone completely still and her eyes had fallen shut. She felt her focus narrow in on Joohyun’s kiss, on her proximity, on her warmth, her breath, her scent, her everything. She saw Joohyun watching her and a slow smile spread on the other girl’s face at Seulgi’s reaction.
“So what?” Joohyun inquired, slightly amused. She reached out, index and middle finger carding through Seulgi’s hair, as she gave the girl time to consider her answer.
Seulgi didn’t answer. She didn’t even know what to say, because words seemed not enough. Nothing seemed enough to describe the searing warmth in her body, tugging at all her nerves, making her giddy and relaxed and so thoroughly happy around the other girl.
Seulgi’s answer was a slow, bright smile, her eyes crescents, as she somewhat deflated at Irene’s question, not caring that she was not able to answer in any other way.
Joohyun snorted, and lightly whacked her shoulder, despite being happy at the reaction. “Is this how it’s going to be? I’ll ask you something and as a reply I get either you smiling like this or a -” She imitated Seulgi’s laughter: “ Heu-heu? ”
“I think,” Seulgi said, suddenly suspecting she had the upper hand, while she still grinned happily. “I - I think! That you like it when it’s like this. And that - and that it’s what makes you like me.”
Joohyun snorted again, the smile still there. “Really. And how did you reach this unlikely conclusion?”
Seulgi eyed her and the smile slipped away, replaced by a look of concentration. It was the one she had on when she was dancing. When she was utterly concentrated on what she was doing. And currently, as she eyed Joohyun, she was doing -
Joohyun swallowed heavily, as Seulgi leaned closer.
They sat next to each other at the foot end of the bed and Seulgi had to crane a lot to lean in, to place both of her hands left and right to Joohyun’s thighs and when she couldn’t, had to place one on Joohyun’s thigh.
Joohyun inhaled sharply and looked down where Seulgi’s hand laid splaid on her thigh, and when she looked up again, Seulgi’s face was so close; Seulgi made eye contact, before glancing at Joohyun’s lips and leaned it.
The kiss was slow, but then grew in both intensity and enthusiasm. Seulgi applied a bit more pressure, nudging at the other girl, who immediately lightly bit back. Seulgi smiled, almost laughed at Joohyun’s immediate reaction, who growled, and Seulgi swallowed her huff, kissing it away.
In comparison to Joohyun’s demanding and impatient kisses, that were precision and efficiency, Seulgi answered slower, sweeter with more gentle quietness, but nonetheless with eagerness and zeal. It made Joohyun want more - more everything and when Seulgi didn’t speed up immediately, Joohyun’s hand went up to the front of Seulgi’s shirt, pulling her closer, as she moved backwards towards the headboard of the bed.
Seulgi had no choice but to follow her, crawling over the other girl eagerly, as to not lose the kiss, as Joohyun insistently licked into her mouth, while Seulgi tried to pacify her flames, that ever demanding and greedy aspect of her personality.
When Joohyun’s back hit the pillow, she sank down on it, both of her hands clawing into Seulgi’s shirt for a moment, before one hand wandered up, past her collarbone, the side of her neck and finally the back of it. She moved her legs - and for a moment Seulgi didn’t know what Irene was doing, before they stretched out, letting Seulgi slot in between them.
She suddenly felt snug against her girlfriend ( girlfriend! ), slotted comfortably against her body, as the smaller girl proceeded to taste every bit of her tongue, and Seulgi drowned in the warm motions and in the feeling that Joohyun wanted her back.
Finally, out of breath, Irene leaned back, her dark eyes meeting Seulgi’s. She licked her lips as she looked up at her, swollen and strawberry-colored and Seulgi tried not to be distracted by them and concentrated on what Joohyun was saying.
“You are not going to leave, are you?” Joohyun narrowed her eyes.
No! Of course not! is what Seulgi wanted to say, but she could only frantically, breathlessly shake her head.
It was then that Joohyun removed her ironclad grasp on Seulgi’s front and moved it up. Seulgi caught it halfway and with one hand and a bit clumsily unfolded Irene’s.
Joohyun frowned. “What are you doing?”
But Seulgi just smiled and unfolded Irene’s hand fully, like she had done so many times, and placed it on her own cheek. Then smiled brightly.
Joohyun bit back a laughter, her finger pads gently sliding over Seulgi’s skin. “What’s this for?”
“If you touch me like this,” and Seulgi felt her own ears go red in slow motion. “I won’t go away, ever.” And just because she could, she turned her head quickly to put a fleeting kiss on Joohyun’s palm.
Irene stared. “Are you - are you trying to flirt with me?”
Seulgi, beet-red, shrugged, her voice small and a bit sheepish. “Is it working?”
“You are a dork and this was - this was beyond awkward and if I hadn’t asked, I would have never -”
Seulgi leaned in and nudged her nose against Joohyun’s. “ Is it working? ”
And Joohyun managed to say yes, then Seulgi laughed and kissed the remaining syllable off Joohyun’s lip and nothing else mattered anymore.
end.
