Chapter Text
If you saw the house from the outside you wouldn’t notice the disarray that was going on inside, you would just walk by and not think anything of the shadows that moved in the windows of the house. But inside there was chaos but not in the physical kind, the furniture was not thrown around the room they were in their place with the exception of the kitchen and the three people sitting around the table.
Splinter was sitting at the end of the table with multiple papers and tablets in front of him, his eyes frantically flickering from screen to screen, searching for any clue that could help him find his sons. He had one hand was holding his head up whilst the other was holding his now empty tea mug, fingers were tapping restlessly against the side of it.
At the opposite end sat April with Casey standing behind her, Casey was waving his hands around in the air, almost knocking things off the table. April’s hair was almost fully pulled out of her normal ponytail and it was becoming more and more tangled as her hand was buried in it while she was arguing with Casey and looking through notes at the same time. She only paused the arguing to close her eyes and rub at her temples to will the oncoming headache away.
Casey however was an even bigger mess than the other two people in the room, he was pacing back and forth while spouting out ideas and moving his hands around to try and prove the point. Hands running through his greasy hair which he hadn’t washed since the brothers went on their mission. He had dark circles underneath his eyes as a result of staying up for hours upon hours with only coffee and energy drinks as fuel and the food that April forced him to eat.
In short everyone was stressed because the brothers were sent out on a short few hour long mission nearly two days ago, and they hadn’t checked in once during that time. Not once, no jokes or puns heard from Mikey or short ramblings from Donnie, no arguing from the oldest brothers. They had been sent out to follow a few trucks that were going to move something from the Saki corporation’s headquarters to a warehouse. It had not taken long for Donnie to hack into their system and find out the time the trucks were going to be driving, and for Raph to go and check in with his friends around the city for more information that they could have heard. Especially since the brothers were all “working” for the company which mostly meant gaining information right from the source.
Splinter sighed and removed his hands from his face before looking up and was just about to remind Casey to breathe when he heard the noise of the front door being unlocked, which caused the three at the table to freeze and become completely silent before they got up from their places and moved towards the opening to the kitchen, to the hallway.
They all moved out of sight of the front door but into fighting positions, ready to fight whatever threat that could be coming in. Ready to defend their home.
But then the door opened and they could see all four of the brothers sneaking in through the door, Leo at the front and Raph bringing up the rear. They were taking care to walk as silently as possible but Mikey decided to look up and froze when he saw the three pair of eyes watching them.
“Dudes I think that they noticed that we were away.” All of the rest of the brothers looked up and froze with sheepish smiles on their faces, Raph looking away from the group and Donnie fiddling with his wrist computer. Leo sighed and opened his arms, ready to explain the situation before Casey moved forward and tackled Raph to the floor with a hug.
“You fucking asshole you were gone for two days, what did you even do?!”.
Donnie yelped as he moved to avoid the falling boys knocking into Mikey which caused them both to also fall to the ground. Leo moved away from his brothers and left the people on the floor to argue while he approached his father.
“Sorry master Splinter, we ran into some trouble but we managed to get out.” He said but Splinter just smiled at him and moved forward and hugged him.
“The mission report can wait until tomorrow, tonight you need to rest,” he looked at April who was looking at Casey, “we all do.”. He let go of his son for a second before another smaller mass slammed into him, hugging him with all his might, he smiled and said.
“I missed you too Michelangelo, all of you and I am happy to have you here safe and in one piece.”.
