Chapter Text

The first time that Michael hears Dean Winchester pray for him is a surprise.

He knows that, for starters, his vessel is not the prayer kind, and apparently, he left clear his thoughts on being his vessel to Zachariah. Either way, he decides to listen and pay attention. There is a bastard in the prayer, but an I’ll consider it in it too, and that's the only thing that he cares about.

There is a second prayer weeks later.

There is so much pain in it, so much suffering, guilt, and mourning.

He can feel it as if his own because soul and grace are connected so that someone like him, who is always trying to just not feel, deciding to accept those feelings is overwhelming.

He would like to answer to Dean Winchester how, when Heaven is brought to Earth, the loved ones who died in The War would come back; that is what his father wants. But he thinks Dean is not ready to hear it yet.

""There is no free will, Dean." That's what you told me in 1975, but this is me doing my free will.”

They are in a park, where there is a sandbox surrounded by slides and trees, which looks calm enough for someone like Dean.

The last prayer was a surprise that came with an invitation to Dean's dream. He uses a young John Winchester’s image, which just got a frown from Dean before growling, “To the point.”

“And what that would be, Dean?”

“I’m gonna say yes..” and that’s- “with conditions.”

“This is not a demon deal to put conditions into it.”

“No, this is worse. For a reason, I’m asking for things.”

Michael considers it because maybe this is his sole opportunity. ”I hear you.”

”Not Adam.”

”Adam Milligan?”

”Don’t try to act dumb. I know that he can be your vessel too.”

”Considering that, yes, Adam Milligan has John Winchester’s blood, I'm not acting dumb. I am trying to comprehend why he would be an option when you are considering it saying Yes. Unless you are not going to say yes.”

”I’m gonna do it, but the point of this is that Adam can't be your vessel at all.”

”He has the blood-”

”I don't care! Just... Forget entirely about him!”

Michael considers it for some seconds before nodding. ”Understand. I believe it is not the only thing.”

”It’s not, so I guess you can ask for something too... In exchange.”

He does not show his surprise at the proposal, thinking that it was what he needed. ”Complete willingness.” It is a shot in the dark, like humans would say, but he will take it anyway. Dean does not look surprised either, and the answer comes faster than he expected.

”Deal, now... Sam doesn't need to say yes.”

”My brother-”

”Doesn't that give us the upper hand? Him not using his real vessel.”

He knows his face shows his discontent, though it is better than showing him even considering that option. The schedule already changed. Angel and humans had died, and Lucifer believes to be winning. So maybe he should have that slight advantage.

“Indeed. That would be considered it.”

“...Good. In the main time, people I want protecting-”

“Robert Singer, Ben, and Lisa Braeden, Castiel. Someone else?“

He asks for him less than he expects and is in the name of others. He can respect the selfless act for what it is.

He doesn’t need to take the hand to close the deal. Just with his word work, Dean has his hand out and after looking at it for some seconds, he takes it.

“Deal,” Dean says.

“Deal.”

The times come sooner than he expects.

He can hear Zachariah calling him, sounding to eager for his liking. He wasn’t the helpful angel that he thought. He can listen to Dean’s voice then, talking about what they already agree with and how the last thing is Zachariah’s death. He considers it before Dean decides to do it himself. He is impressed when the blade that his vessel uses to do it appears out of nowhere by just commanding it. That’s enough for him to know that Dean is his.

He makes his presence known, waiting for when Dean says yes and accepts the destiny that was written so long ago.

Doubt appears on his mind when Dean goes to the door next to his brothers; doubt that disappears when Dean looks up and says the words.

"Yes."

Finally, he became one with his vessel, and is heavenly.

Notes:

I didn't plan to write Michael, Cas was supposed to be the next one, but it hit me so long ago and I like the little that I had so... here it is!

Thank you for reading!

Notes:

I have something with Dean saying yes to Michael at this point in the series.(We don't talk about the other Michael)
So, yes. That happened.
