The sorceress & her misfortune of meeting the deadly demon

Chapter 8: Surprisingly soft

Summary:

Ochaco can’t sleep, so she and Katsuki talk.

Notes:

Guys, the more I read Kacchako fics the more I’m surprisingly falling in love with this ship.
Which says a lot since I don’t write for straight ships at all if not rarely.
I think this is only my second Kacchako fic while the rest of my page is filled with Tododeku and one--one-- KiriBaku.
Personally, I like to use Katsuchaco as this ship’s name simply because I think it sounds prettier than Kacchako. (Also maybe because I prefer to write Ochaco’s name with a second C rather than a K like it does in the manga, but whatever.)
Anyways, I was listening to soft music, and really thought of these two while doing so.
I hope you guys enjoy this chaptpter!

Chapter Text

Ochaco couldn’t sleep.

She didn’t know why, but she just couldn’t find it in her to settle her mind and unwind her muscles from today’s workload and activities.

It also recently solidified in her mind the other day that she actually had a bond with an Attachment Demon.

Of course, she and Katsuki were almost always together due to the bond.

But it never truly formulated in Ochaco’s mind that they were attached, or that Katsuki wasn’t fully human.

Even when they weren’t in public.

When Katsuki stood at his full height, and his horns and claws and tail were completely out and most definitely not something to be ignored easily; Ochaco didn’t see Katsuki as another creature different from what she was. It didn’t register in her mind that she had a soul bond with someone far more powerful, and dangerous than she was.

When they first met, Ochaco had only seen Katsuki as a demon.

But now…

Now Katsuki was just another one of her best friends.

Katsuki was just a loud-mouthed butt, Ochaco occasionally snapped with.

Katsuki was her annoying roommate who was actually really skilled at positions and language. Katsuki was just the one who gave her firm hugs and soft cuddles.

Katsuki was just the boy who was teaching her how to fight.

He was just her sparring partner!

But.

But he also wasn’t.

Bakugo Katsuki was so much more to Ocahco.

Their connection ran deeper.

Their bond had made them deeper.

Katsuki wasn’t just Katsuki.

He was--

What was he?

Ochaco sighed.

He’d chosen her .

He bonded with her .

He bantered with her .

He sparred with her .

He studied with her .

He lived with her .

He did everything with her!

Well…

Okay not everything everything.

They weren’t literally attached at the hip.

But they were pretty damn close to being so.

What were they then?

Were they just Sorceress and demon?

Were they just a bonded pair?

‘No.’ Ochaco thought

No, they were more than that.

But what more?

Were they dating?

Did the bond qualify as an engagement?

Were they engaged?!

.

.

.

Were they married?!

Ochaco’s pink cheeks darkened.

She needed to know.

Now.

Even if it meant waking Katsuki from his slumber.

The brunette rolled over on her side and looked at the boy beside her for a moment.

The blond was oddly soft, and docile looking while he slept.

For someone as loud and mean looking as Bakugo Katsuki was, you’d think his face scowled while he slept, or that he snored roughly, or even spoke aggressively in his sleep.

But he did none of those things.

He’d shift from side to side every now and then, maybe sighed or huffed slightly.

But he didn't snore, he didn’t sleep talk, and he didn’t scowl.

Infact, Ocahco noticed, he was much more relaxed when he slept.

His muscles weren’t tensed up.

His face was screwed in annoyance or anger.

His eyebrows didn’t forrow together to define a glare from his red eyes.

His jaw wasn’t slightly jutted out to the side to show that that’s where he kept his emotions.

He wasn’t mean looking.

Ochaco smiled to herself.

‘If anything,’ She thought, ‘He looks more like an angel than a demon.’

Her cheeks reddened.

Enough was enough.

She had to have the answers to her questions.

“Katsuki.” She whispered as she poked at the center of his chest

The boy didn’t budge.

“Katsuki.” She tried again, this time poking three fingers at his shoulder

He still didn’t move.

Ochaco’s face screwed up with mild frustration.

“Katsuki, Wake. Up!” She hissed, and lightly punched him in the shoulder

This time, Katsuki growled, rolled onto his back and squeezed his shut eyes tighter closed.

“Fucking what , Ochaco?”

His sleepy voice was raspy and deep.

It always gave Ochaco’s stomach butterflies.

“I, can’t sleep.” She whispered to him

“Not my problem.” He bit back

“Is too!” She whisper yelled

Katsuki shifted back onto his side, getting close to her face.

“ How?! ” He demanded only slightly louder than her whisper was

“You have to answer my questions now. Not in the morning. Now.” She whispered back

They were silent for a moment.

Katsuki’s red eyes glowed in the dark.

A further reminder to Ochaco that Katsuki was part demon just as much as he was part human.

“Go on then..” Katsuki said, his tone softer

It surprised Ochaco how quickly he mellowed out for her, and she had to compose herself.

She hadn’t thought this far ahead yet.

“Um, well….” She started, suddenly embarrassed about what she was about to ask

“I can’t stop-- thinking , about-- about you.” She said

“What about me?” He asked flatly, almost like he didn’t want to let curiosity or excitement seep into his words

Ochaco felt her cheeks heat up more.

“Well…” She drew in a breath and let it out slowly. She could do this.

It was just Katsuki after all.

“What am I to you? What is this thing between us?” She asked

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

The silence bore down on her as she studied Katsuki’s eyes.

Ochaco panicked.

“Is that a stupid question?  Should I know this? Is it obvious and I’m just dumb? Tell me I’m dumb and then explain it to me, you do that the best when we study..” She said quickly, hoping that what she was saying didn’t make her sound dumb, despite her words about herself

“No, they’re not stupid questions.” Katsuki answered, “And no, I don’t think anything’s obvious. If you haven’t yet noticed; I’m not an ‘obvious’ type of person.” He told her

“Oh.” She replied

Katsuki sighed.

“I do like you Ochaco. I like you a lot. And everyone else in the fucking world knows that there’s something here. But fuck if I’m not scared to ask what it is.”

Ochcao was surprised to say the least.

Katsuki?

The Bakugo Katsuki ? Was scared ?

To ask the same questions she just had?

No way.

“You’re a lot of things to me Ochaco, and for once I can say that I’ve been trying to be an obvious person, but I keep letting my own pride get in the way of just saying ‘Hey. I like you, I think you like me; we are bonded… Soo…” He paused, his eye making sure they were locked with her’s as he shifted her closer to him,”How about with give this a shot.?”

His voice sounded hopeful near the end.

It was so out of character for him.

But Ochaco noticed that she broke down the walls Katsuki kept up against the world.

Aside from himself, Ochaco was the only other person on the inside of his barriers.

She was the only one he chose to open his heart to; the only one he felt comfortable being vulnerable with.

Ocahco felt light as she realized how special she honestly was to him, and she couldn’t be happier.

“Are you asking me to be your girlfriend, Katsuki?” She asked him with a smile

He scoffed and rolled his eyes.

“Do I have to fucking spell it out for you?” He asked, his voice holding no venom in it

Ochaco giggled.

“Nah, I get it.”

They fell silent for a sec.

“So is that a yes or not, Round Face?!”

“Oh! Yes! Of course! Of course it’s a yes!” She answered quickly

This made Katsuki chuckle, and he pulled her close to his chest.

“Good.” He answered, “Because ‘no’ wasn’t an option.”

It was Ochaco’s turn to laugh.

Katsuki really strived to get whatever he wanted.

“Think you can sleep now?” He asked

“Yeah.” She answered

“Good. ‘Cuz I’m fucking tired.” He replied

Ochaco chuckled.

“Yeah, I am too.”

She only got a hum in response.

‘This is nice.’ She thought

In just a few moments.

She’d gotten a surprisingly soft moment with Katsuki.

And as a bonus, he was now, officially, her boyfriend.

Yeah.

He wasn’t just Katsuki.

He was her , Katsuki.

And she was his Ochaco.

Notes:

Was this cringy?
Maybe.
Do I have any idea what I’m doing with this story?
Not a fucking clue.
I honestly thought that I could dive into this without a plan and it’d miraculously work out, because that’s what happened when I wrote my story 'Baby'.
There was more body and more plot in that story, and this one kinda just: falls flat.
I think so anyways.
I don’t know how many people read this, or even like it for that matter, but for those of you that do: Thank you, and I promise, I’m seriously trying to make this story work.

I hope you all have a wonderful day,
And Until Next Time,
