Chapter Text
Sunny finally finished his second day at school. That one was a little more enjoyable, seeing how he now knew where his classes was, even if he did get lost on his way to biology class. Sunny also had the opportunity to get to know more his classmates.
Ben,the kid that helped Sunny on his first day, also introduced him to his friend group during lunch. He barely saw them yesterday so he needed to introduce himself properly.
It was pretty small as friend groups went. They were sitting at the smallest table of the cafeteria.
"So, It's Sunny, right?" This was the first words that the girl Sunny would learn to know was named Alice told to him. She looked pretty... mean. She also had very short blonde hair, it was kinda cute.
"Yes. Happy to meet you." Sunny felt anxious, this was his best shot at making friends. He really didn't want to mess it up.
"You look pretty cool." A boy of the name of Alex said that. Despite trying, Sunny couldn't find anything out of the ordinary with him. He had some of the blandest clothing Sunny had ever seen. Even him couldn't come close to that level of blandness. This was a work of art by itself.
"And as far as I saw, he is!" Ben took an empty chair from the neighboring table and invited Sunny to sit. Ben was quite tall for his age, you could easily think that he was a few grade earlier then he actually was. Puberty clearly had him early. He had short brown hairs and blue eyes. Sunny didn't know why but Ben instantaneously took an interest in Sunny. Immediately volunteering in helping Sunny getting used to his new school. He probably was very kind to do that for a complete stranger.
"Thank you." Sunny sat down. The two kids quickly presented themselves to Sunny, and they began lunch.
"Ugh. Mashed potatoes again. Do they not have anything else?" Complained Alice.
"Seeing how broke the school is,they probably don't." Said Ben.
"I don't really mind." Shrugged Alex. "I like Mashed potato."
"Of course you do." Sunny could see Ben rolling his eyes. "Well anyway. Sunny, talk to us more about you."
"Well...hmm... I like to draw. And I like to think that I am not horrible at it." For the longest time he thought that he was good, but then Mari came around and showed him how ignorant he truly was.
"Really? Do you have any of your drawings with you?" Asked Alex, Sunny shook his head. "Oh that's a shame...."
"You could bring some of them tomorrow!"
"It would be pretty funny yeah!" Oh. Sunny didn't know what to respond. His sketchbook contained a lot of the personification of his weird thoughts, his dreams and his nightmares, he also drew some stuff that he did that he clearly didn't want to share with them. Not that they weren't intended to a public of his age, but more that he didn't want to freak them out.
"I... will think about it. It's... hmmm... a little personal." He awkwardly responded. Ben shrugged and only said a little "ok". He was glad that he didn't push it. Even if Alice was way more insistent. But fortunately for Sunny, Ben made her stop. Which was fortunate because he didn't know if he would have been able to say no for much longer. They continued talking about a lot of stuff, Sunny didn't really talk all that much. He mostly observed them. He needed to get a better idea on them first.
Sunny was waiting outside of the school for Katya to come pick him up. A few other kid were there too, waiting for their parents to pic them up. He saw from the corner of his eyes Ben, his other friends were nowhere to be seen so Sunny approached him.
"Hey!" He greeted him.
"Oh! Hello Sunny. I didn't see you."
"It's fine. Hey.. hmmmm... where are the others?"
"Oh they just got picked up by their parents." He looked away before smiling back at Sunny. "And you? Waiting for someone?"
"Yeah. I am going with someone from the high school close by."
"Sibling?"
"No... I... I am an only child. She just live in the same building. And since the streets are dangerous we decided to walk together." As far as he could tell, Ben looked satisfied by this answer.
"Yeeey only child gang." Ben gives him a smile. "Well,I am waiting for my dad. He's always a little late. But he'll be there any time soon." Sunny nodded.
Several minutes passed and Katya finally arrived,Sunny rushed to meet her and said goodbye to Ben. Katya gave Sunny a little smirk when she saw Ben that Sunny decided to ignore. Just like he ignored most of her questions related to the boy.
He simply was too exhausted to keep up with her talking speed. He just wished to return to Olga's house and do his homeworks before relaxing.
But Olga had a different wish.
