Chapter Text

Stiles went to the conference table sitting on a bar stool, so he was facing the television. He had already seen the three movie that they had to pick from so he knew that it would be little more then background noise. Seeing Peter coming down the stairs with his computer, Stiles made grabby hands for the device.

Now that he had the laptop in front of him, chat window open, Stiles felt much better. Less then a minute later there was a ding showing that the chat was live.

Kat: You there?

Cas: Yes sorry I’m late

Kat: Your fine

Kat: You didn’t send me any questions. So is there anything you want to know?

Stiles had a list of questions, he had spent the night before making. Fumbling with his stack of papers he pulled out the one he was looking for. He read the first one on the paper.

Cas: Have you ever heard of someone getting bit by a werewolf and not turning?

Kat: The only way a person that has been bit and doesn’t turn is if they die or are not human.

Cas: What do you mean not human?

Kat: Only humans can change species. Supernatural’s can not. So if they are bit they don’t change.

Cas: But Strawberry Queen got bit and is still human

Kat: I don’t know what Strawberry Queen is but she is not human

Cas: Yes she is

Kat: There are some species out there that don’t know what they are, because they don’t change till later in life. She might be one

Cas: Like what?

Kat: Rougaru don’t change till they are 30. Aswang don’t change till they are around 25. Baobhana Shith and Banshee’s change form around 16 to 20. There are many more.

Cas: How do they know what they are?

Kat: Most of the time their parents tell them. But sometimes they don’t even know till they the day their powers wake. It can be bad.

Cas: Strawberry Queen might be a supernatural and not even know?

Kat: Maybe

Kat: Sometimes being attacked can jump start their powers. Has your friend done anything different since she was bit?

Cas: The only thing that I noticed was that she can scream really loud.

Kat: Ask her if her family has a comb that has been passed down for generations.

Stiles stared at the screen of a long moment, than glanced over to Peter, who gust shrugged. So he decided to just roll with it. “Hey, Lydia?” When she looked up from her phone he asked. “Does your family pass down a comb as an heirloom?”

The strawberry blonde’s eyes went wide. “How did you know that?”

The two at the table side eyed each other. “What side of the family is it from.”

“My Grandmother Lorraine Martin gave it to me when I was little. She told me she had gotten it from her grandmother.” Lydia told Stiles even though Peter had asked the question.

He did not know how this Kat person knew what they knew, it was starting to get eerie. He went back to his chat.

Cas: She said that she has one.

Kat: Well that means that she could be either a Sakasgami No Yura or a Banshee.

Cas: How do we find out which one?

Kat: What color is the comb?

“What does it matter what color it is?” Stiles ask out loud.

“I don’t know what color comb a Sakasgami No Yura has, but a Banshee has a silver comb.” Peter eyes Lydia who just stares him down. “Lydia?”

Not breaking eye contact with Peter she states. “It’s silver.”

Stiles types in the color, then waits for Kat’s response. “She said that could be good or bad.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Jackson growled, eyes flashing yellow for a moment.

“Jackson.” Derek eyes flashed Alpha red.

“Down, boys.” Stiles holds his hand out like he is giving a command to a pair of dogs. “I’ll read what she just said.” At the duel looks of rage he got from Derek and Jackson he realized his mistake. “Oh, God I didn’t mean it to come out like that. I just didn’t want you to fight. This is all new to us and I would like not to die tonight. If that is at all possible.” He squawked when Peter’s hand landed on his thigh.

“Relax, dear boy. They are not going to kill you.” Peter moved his hand up Stiles thigh a fraction of an inch.

Stiles jumps off the stool flailing his arms. “No. Bad touch that is a very bad touch.” That’s when he saw the glint in Peter’s eye. “Oh you asshole. You just did that because of what I said.”

“At least I didn’t try to kill you.” Peter draws. “You have a message.”

Huffing Stiles sat back down, glaring at the un-dead werewolf. He could hear a few snickers coming from the living area. Taking a breath he started to read. “There are two type of Banshee, the Crier and the Cause. The Crier is able to sense a persons death and will scream when a person nearby dies. A Cause’s scream will drive a person insane, making them bash their head open so they can feed on their brains. Oh that’s gross.”

“How do we find out which one Lydia is?” Isaac eyed the strawberry blonde.

“I could scream at Peter and see if he smashes his head in.” Lydia smiles sweetly at said werewolf.

“I don’t think that’s necessary. Remember when we found you after you left the hospital? You were at the scene of a murder.” Everyone just stared at Stiles. “She was drawn to death.” He tells the room.

“Well that makes her quite the secret weapon.” Peter smiles at the looks of confusion his statement gets. “Once she learns how to control her scream she can use it like a sound cannon.”

“Like the Black Canary.” Stiles’s eyes light up.

“How do you know that?” Erica asks.

“It use to be my job to know about a lot of different supernatural things.” Peter peers over at Derek who just gives a single nod. “Though I didn’t know there was two types of Banshee.”

“Are you going to tell me that you also didn’t know there is two types of werewolves?” Stiles raised an eyebrow at the un-dead werewolf.

“Of course I knew. The question is how did you?”

“There is two kinds of werewolf?” Isaac glanced between Derek and Peter.

~~~
Sighing with the depths of his frustration Peter closed his eyes taking a deep breath. “Are you done with your chat?”
Stiles looked at the screen. “Yeah we will talk again on Friday.” Then he starts to click on folders, going through Peter’s files.
Reaching over Peter closed the laptop, Stiles made an indignant noise at the action. He looked back over at the Betas. “We are the type of werewolf that is called Faoladh. Our origin date back to the 5th century, Ireland. This is the tell ‘There are two of us, a man and a woman, natives of Ossory, who through the curse of one Natalis, saint and abbot, are compelled every seven years to put off the human form and depart from the dwellings of men. Quitting entirely the human form, we assume that of wolves. At the end of the seven years, if they chance to survive, two others being substituted in their places, they return to their country and their former shape. And now, she who is my partner in this visitation lie with child born in that vestige.”
“Nice riddle, what does it mean?” Jackson glimpses around the room.
“It means that two people got turned into wolves had sex then had a baby werewolf.” Stiles studies Jackson like he’s slow.
“What is the other type?” Lydia looked at her nails like she didn’t really care.
“They are called Lykánthropos and the first stories about them was some time in 2,100 B.C. in Greece. They are ten times more dangerous then us, not because they are stronger then us or faster. It is because half the time when someone is bit by one they go instantly feral.” Peter keeps eye contact with the room.
“That and it doesn’t take an Alpha to turn someone.” Stiles interjects.
“What do we do if one comes to town?” Isaac gapes at Peter.
“Well the good thing is that if they get anywhere near our territory they will run the other way. Wolves don’t usually cross over into another wolfs land.” Peter surveyed the pups. “I have never heard of a Lykánthropos on Hale land.”
“Isn’t it true that they eat hearts?” Stiles bobbed his head around.
“Yes, they have to eat them on the nights of a full moon.” Peter was impressed with the amount of knowledge Stiles was collecting.
“But even feral Faoladh will eat hearts.” Lydia stated.
Peter’s head snapped over to the strawberry blonde. “How did you know that?”
“I read the book Stiles e-mailed me.” Lydia states.
“What book?” Derek’s eyes narrows at the boy.
“A man named Cunignos Whelan wrote a book in 1889 called..”
“Cunomapatis.” Both Peter and Derek said in unison.
Everyone looked between the Alpha and his uncle.
“Every pack I know of has been looking for that book for over a century. Rumor has it that it was taken from a pack by a witch.” Peter glanced to the laptop.
“You think Kat is a 100 year old witch?” Stiles gives Peter a speculative look.
“No, I think she is older then that.”
“Stiles I don’t want you to have any more contact with this Kat person.” Derek orders.
“Well no offense, Sourwolf, but she hasn’t told me anything that isn’t true. And I will use her to fact check Peter until she does.” Stiles stares down the Alpha.
“Derek there is no way that she could find us and if we now have a copy of Cunomapatis I don’t see the harm.” Peter regards the stack of papers next to him. “Is this it?”
“Yeah, I thought you might like a printout, I didn’t know how tech savvy you two were.” Stiles peeks over to Derek. “I know he’s allergic to even answering the phone.”
Isaac, Boyd and Erica all try to keep from laughing, while Derek sends Stiles a death glare. Lydia and Jackson have a look of someone who is out of loop. Peter has his work cut out for him, but looking around he could see that this was the begins of making a strong pack. He just hoped that nothing would come alone and rip them apart before he could get them there.
