Chapter Text
Atsushi stared dazedly in front of him as he sat at the counter in Akutagawa’s kitchen, watching his rival look through his fridge for food.
Atsushi slowly lifted his fingers up to his lips, lightly tracing over where Akutagawa had kissed him earlier.
Right… Akutagawa kissed me…. It’s safe to say that Atsushi was still in disbelief.
Atsushi took the time to look around Akutagawa’s apartment. It was clear the Port Mafia gave him a very nice salary. The apartment was spacious, well-furnished, and had a fairly decent view on Yokohama out the living room window.
Atsushi’s visual tour of the apartment was interrupted by a grunt that came from the kitchen before the sound of a fridge door being closed rather quickly.
“I apologize, it appears you caught me before I was able to refill the kitchen” Akutagawa said to Atsushi.
Atsushi was silent for a minute before he managed to shake off the shock that the mafioso was apologizing to him. “Oh ahh, its okay! I don’t really need much anyway!”
A scowl crossed the man’s face. “You need to eat, Jinko.”
Atsushi let out a light laugh. “Oh, are we back to Jinko now? What happened to calling me Atsushi?”
Akutagawa moved closer to him, moving a hand beneath his chin and lightly pushing his head up so they were now looking into each other’s eyes, only a few breaths away from one another. “I will call you whatever it is I please, foolish Jinko” he said with a soft voice and smile. Atsushi shrunk into himself in Akutagawa’s gaze, his face heating up in an instant. Before he could reply, the mafioso added “and don’t try to change the subject, Nakajima.”
Atsushi felt himself grow redder even more and awkwardly tried to look away, before he felt himself being pulled in for another kiss. Atsushi was frozen, letting his chin get pulled forward before…
“Wait Stop!” he yelled out, flinging his arms around and frantically moving away from Akutagawa.
Atsushi had his eyes shut tight, not wanting to even chance a peak at what the other man looked like right now.
After a what felt like a very long moment, he heard “Atsushi…?” called out very softly. Taking in a deep breath, he opened his eyes to look at Akutagawa, seeing a slight frown on his face, his eyes downturned. “Did I overstep somewhere?” he asked.
Atsushi’s eyes went wide. “No! No no no no! You were doing fine!” he yelled in reply, watching the worried look on his partner’s(?) face disappear. “Sorry, that was my fault” he added again, looking down into his lap.
Things were silent in the kitchen for a moment before Akutagawa moved over to his side of the counter and took a seat on the stool next to him. He watched as the mafioso slowly and awkwardly brought his hand up before placing it over Atsushi’s. “Tell me what’s wrong so that I may correct it.”
Atsushi let out a light awkward chuckle. “I’m just… not used to people… touching me… like that. I’m not very good at being… intimate.”
Akutagawa was silent for a minute before he leaned back, slowly letting out “I… understand your predicament. I too have little experience with this type of… relationship.”
Atsushi didn’t take his eyes off the mafioso, taking in his words before he suddenly let out a laugh. “I guess everyone was right all along. We really are alike.”
“I suppose that’s true.” Akutagawa sat there for a moment, before saying “I suppose I’ll make us some tea then. Would you like some?” Atsushi nodded.
As Akutagawa began filling up his kettle with water, Atsushi began thinking over things in his mind. Everyone always did see how similar we were before we even did. How did they though? And what would they think about…
Atsushi suddenly gasped and stood to his feet. “Wait!” Akutagawa looked over at him as he began boiling the water. “What is everyone else going to think, if we’re… you know…” He didn’t finish his sentence, merely tapping his fingers together, for some reason not able to say the word.
Akutagawa thought over it for a minute before responding. “Well, we are lucky that our respective organizations are at a cease fire at the moment.”
“B-but what if that ends?”
Akutagawa chuckled. “Then the Port Mafia will have lost another member.”
Atsushi’s jaw dropped. “You’d leave the Port Mafia?”
“I’ve never really had any loyalty to that organization in the first place. Yes, they helped me when I was starving in the slums, but the truth is, I’ve only ever stayed with them because my interests had aligned with there’s” he explained as he lifted the kettle off the stove and began pouring the hot water into two mugs. As he did, Akutagawa’s eyes met his. “But now, my interests have turned to something else.”
Never did Atsushi think the sound of Akutagawa’s rough voice could make him blush the way he did just then.
Akutagawa walked over and placed a mug in front of him, before once again taking the seat to his right. “I still don’t understand,” Atsushi started, once again avoiding the gaze of his… whatever Akutagawa was. “Why me? There’s not really anything that great about me.”
Akutagawa tsked. “You must be quite the fool to not recognize how many good qualities you possess, Jinko. Your strength, your unwavering spirit, your cheerful attitude, all of which make spending time with you enjoyable.” Atsushi looked over to find him with a determined look on his face before it disappeared as he turned to look in front of him. “And… I must admit that I have found myself, feeling certain urges at the thought of your bod-”
“Okay that’s enough!” Atsushi yelled, swinging his arms in front of his face. “Why do you have to find the weirdest way to call me hot?” His only answer was the mafioso purposely turning to avoid the other’s gaze.
“The mafioso continued to ignore that by switching topics. “The element I don’t understand however is you. I don’t see why you have accepted my advances thus far.”
Atsushi looked over his own crazy thoughts to try and decipher what the answer was. “Well… for a while I kind of thought of you as just this mindless killing machine… but I’ve come to realize that wasn’t true. That we really are that similar.” Atsushi looked over at the mafioso who had now turned to watching him quizzically. “And I guess I’ve also felt those… um… urges you mentioned.”
Atsushi saw a faint hint of red on Akutagawa’s cheeks, and quickly put that into his memory. He looked deep in thought for a moment before he asked “Atsushi, may I kiss you again?”
“Please.”
The mafioso quickly stood up, knocking his stool to the ground as he approached the weretiger, gently placed a hand behind his head and leaned in to kiss him.
Atsushi’s body was shocked for a moment before he got used to the sensation and leaned back into Akutagawa. He stood up to get closer to the other man’s lips, pushing against him. HE closed his eyes as he slowly opened and closed his lips in time with Akutagawa, and suddenly he felt the familiar feeling of Rashomon wrapping around his back. It pulled him in, pressing him up against the chest of his partner.
Their lips only separated briefly to take in air before pushing against one another again. Eventually, Atsushi separated his slightly and Akutagawa’s tongue slipped in, tangling itself with his. At the same time, he felt himself being pushed back, eventually coming up against a wall and his rival continued kissing him.
Atsushi felt a leg place itself in between his, pressing up against him. He unconsciously let out a low moan. Atsushi grabbed onto the hair on the back of Akutagawa’s head as he continued to lean into his kisses.
Akutagawa eventually pulled his head back, despite Atsushi’s protests, and moved to the weretiger’s neck, sucking on a few spots. Atsushi let out another moan, as well as softly saying “Aku…tagawa…” in a soft voice.
The man in question separated himself from his neck and quickly said “You can call me Ryuunosuke.”
Atsushi felt himself blush as Aku- Ryuunosuke went back to leaving kisses along his neck. “Okay, Ryuu.”
The mafioso froze briefly, before lifting his head up and locking his lips with Atsushi’s again. He broke away briefly to whisper “Atsushi”, which got a light whimper out of him.
As they kissed, their hands moved all over each other’s bodies, grasping at hair, their back, their chest, everywhere. They got lower and lower as they went along. After Atsushi started lifting his legs to rub against Ryuunosuke’s, the mafioso broke the kiss to look at Atsushi.
“Would you like to take this to the bedroom?” he asked softly. Atsushi nodded quickly and enthusiastically. Ryuunosuke quickly picked him up in a bridal carry, giving him another long kiss before walking slowly through his apartment.
“You’re stronger than I thought” Atsushi said with a chuckle. “I didn’t think you’d be able to carry me like this.”
“Did you think me weak?” he replied with a light smirk.
“Oh, of course not. Take good care of me you strong man!” the weretiger answered as he continued to chuckle.
“Oh, I intend to.” Ryuunosuke’s look was one of hunger as he gazed at the man in his arms.
Atsushi blushed and looked over to the side. “You know,” he began softly, “I’ve never actually done anything like this before.”
“Neither have I,” the mafioso answered honestly. “We shall figure this out together.”
Atsushi smiled brightly at Ryuunosuke. “Yeah, we will” he said as they walked into the bedroom, the door closing behind them.
“Atsushi seems to be late this morning” Kunikida commented as he worked on a report at his desk.
“That’s weird,” Tanizaki replied. “He’s usually on time.”
“Maybe he just slept in,” Kenji supplied.
“He didn’t come home last night,” Kyouka said softly. “Last night he said he was going out to dinner with someone.”
“Oh?” Yosano began, a wicked smile on her face. “Maybe Atsushi got lucky last night.”
“Are you sure?” Tanizaki asked. “He doesn’t really seem like the type of person to do that kind of thing.”
“Oh, you’d be surprised,” Ranpo stated nonchalantly as he opened up another bag of candy.
“Huh, what do you mean by that?”
Tanizaki’s question went unanswered as the door was opened. Atsushi came in quickly, shouting “Sorry I’m late everyone!” as he quickly moved to his desk.
The eyes of everyone in the office followed him as he sat door. Atsushi looked like crap. His clothes were all rumpled up and winkled, his hair unkempt, and there were strange red marks all over his neck.
“My, my, Atsushi,” Dazai started with a devilish smirk on his face. “You must’ve had quite the night.”
“Wh- what do you mean by that, Dazai-san?”
“I never pegged you as the type to do the walk of shame to work the morning after, but clearly I was wrong.”
“Walk of shame… Dazai, what are you talking about?”
Dazai couldn’t answer as Yosano walked over and leaned against his desk. “So, who was it, Atsushi? I think I’d like to have just a little talk with whoever it is you’ve been seeing.” Atsushi noticed that she was gripping a scalpel in her fist.
“Yeah, Atsushi, you didn’t tell me you were going on a date with someone new” Tanizaki said, also coming over to his desk.
Atsushi mumbled over his words as he tried to come up with a response when Ranpo loudly asked “Who said it was someone new?” which earned gasps from everyone.
The detectives all turned to ask questions to their red-faced colleague when Dazai suddenly stood up. “Where do you think you’re going?” Kunikida asked.
“I need to go see Katai,” he stated. “He did a little favour for me, and I need to thank him for that.”
“Any favour for you I must assume is designed to annoy me.”
“Oh, nothing of the sort!” Dazai said with a smile. “He just did a small hack into a certain app’s algorithm for me a week ago. Nothing bad came from it, I promise!”
