Chapter Text
"A party? Now?" Lizz asked starring at a group of legends, consisting of Bangalore, Wraith, and Mirage, holding flyers. They had just gotten news about a formal party going on the next day. All legends were expected to attend. That included Lizz. Though, she wasn't really sure about the whole thing. She never was a party person.
"Yeah, they hold one every few months for us," Bangalore explained," We all dress up fancy and get to mingle with civilians."
"But, what about the other animals? Won't they take this as an opportunity to attack?" Lizz asked.
"Oh absolutely. It said so on that tablet, but it didn't specify how they'd attack." Bangalore starts," Nonetheless, we'll be ready."
Lizz stops to think for a moment, looking down at the flyer in her paws. "What about the... civilians?" Lizz asked, using the same vocabulary as Bangalore.
"We have that under control. Don't worry."
"...Okay. I'll get that suit ready I guess." Lizz says.
"Ten-four, rook."
Lizz had no doubt the other legends had a plan for the event. She was sure the animals would attack which is probably what they wanted. Lizz inly hoped they'd fill her in on the plan soon.
The next day Lizz was in front of her mirror in her bathroom. She was having trouble with her bowtie. She got the rest of her suit on just fine, but when it came to trying to tie things her claws always got in the way. She fiddled with the tie some more before grunting and exiting her room to find someone to help her.
Lizz's suit was black with a white undershirt and black bowtie. God did she love it. It costed so much to get tailored, but she never got to wear it. To be perfectly honest, Lizz was exited for this party now.
Lizz walked into he common room where all the legends, besides Revenant, were waiting. They were all dressed in formal outfits and looked absolutely awesome. Lizz was kind of worried she would be too boring looking.
"Hey," she gets the legends attention," Can someone help me with this damn bowtie?"
The legends are quiet as they turn to look at her.
"...What?" Lizz asks.
Suddenly Wattson, and Gibraltar rush up to Lizz, screaming and laughing happily.
"You look so pretty!" Wattson yells, grabbing Lizz face and pulling her down to her level. Gibraltar laughs and gives Lizz a big pat on the back.
Loba breaks the two up as the rest of the legends laugh at the scene.
"Okay, okay, stop crowding her. Here, I'll help you with that tie."
Wattson and Gibby back off and Lizz hands Loba her tie. Loba ties the bowtie around Lizz's neck and her look is complete.
"Thank you." Lizz thanks Loba.
"You're welcome, dear."
As Loba walks back into the group, Lizz brushes herself off.
"So, what are the rules to this event? I've never been to a formal party like this before." Lizz asks.
"Just be polite I guess. The only people who come to these things are the rich fans and sponsors." Wraith says.
"Yeah, the real snobby types!" Octane yells.
Lizz chuckles. "Well, okay. So when do we leave?"
"Right now. Let's get our party on!" Lifeline says.
Lizz and the other legends make their way outside of headquarters and pile into multiple limousine-like cars. Inside Lizz's car were Octane, Mirage, Bloodhound, and Seer. Octane and seer sat beside each other while Lizz sat next to Bloodhound.
"Awh man, how'd I get stuck with you, Obi?" Octane complained. Seer only chuckled. "Ha ha, laugh all ya want! Me and Lizz are going to blow the roof off that building! Right?" Octane turns to Lizz.
Lizz slowly pulls out her phone and earphones and ignores Octane.
"Seriously?" Octane says. Seer and Bloodhound share a laugh.
Lizz listened to her music while on the way to the building where the party was tacking place. Her music consisted of hip-hop, rap, trap, and the occasional metal song. Lizz loved every genre of music.
Lizz was listening to rather dirty song when her earphones were suddenly pulled out of her ears.
"Yoink!"
"Hey!"
Octane pops Lizz's earphones into his own ears and listens to the song.
"Dirty babe. You see these shackles baby I'm your slave. I'll let you whip me if I misbehave. It's just that no one makes me feel this way."
"What the hell?" Octane says. Lizz yanks back her earphones and puts them and her phone back in her pocket. She'd be blushing of embarrassment if she could. Though some smoke was coming out of her nose due tot he embarrassing situation.
"My music tastes are beyond your understanding, Silva." Lizz says flatly.
This kind of scared Octane and he leaned over to Bloodhound.
"Hey, protect me from her, okay?" Octane whispers to them.
"I can hear you." Lizz says. Octane filches then laughs.
The legends finally reach their destination and pile out of the limos. They all huddle together.
"Okay, here's the plan. Act as if everything's normal. If the animals attack, and they will, find any of the weapons hidden in the building." Bangalore says.
Everyone nods. Time to get this party started.
The legends enter the huge building and there's a red carpet automatically rolled out for them all. They walk through the entrance and then start branching off tp different tables and groups of people.
As the legends branch off from one another Lizz was the only one left alone. She awkwardly made her way to a table filled with snacks and just stood there.
There was no music yet, just a bunch of chitter chatter, and Lizz was growing nervous. What if the animals attack and hurt someone? Will all these other people be okay? Questions and worries raced through her mind and she began to feel her chest grow tight. She gently pulled at her collar to let some air hit her chest. She had to find some way to distract herself.
Lizz looked around the room. The first person she notices is Mirage talking to a female human.
'Sorry Mirage, but imma have to break up your flirting session.'
Lizz begins to walk over to Mirage and the woman. As she gets closer Lizz realizes this woman is being very handsy with him. Touching all up his body, and all down it. He was visibly uncomfortable, which seemed out of character for him. Nevertheless, Lizz takes it upon herself to save him from this battle.
"Come on, hun, let's go have some fun alone..." The woman says.
"Eh, uhm, I-"
Lizz stalks over to Mirage and the woman, casting a shadow over them both. The woman looks up at her and stops talking.
"Oh, heh, hey Lizz." Mirage says nervously.
"I'm sorry, am I interrupting something?" Lizz asked glaring at the woman.
"Uhhh, no... no no. I was just leaving." The woman says then shuffles away. Once she's gone, Mirage lets out a sigh of relief.
"Thank you." He says.
"No problem. I noticed she was being too touchy."
"I thought you were coming for me at first." Mirage chuckles. He was shaking a little. It seemed like he was still scared of Lizz.
"Hehe, nah you're cool, Elliot. I'd never hurt ya." Lizz says as friendly as possible.
"Heh... Really?" Mirage asks.
"Yeah, really. We're buds, okay." Lizz extends her pw towards Mirage.
Mirage looked unsure for a few moments, but then shook Lizz's paw as if they'd been friends all along. Lizz smiled, trying to contain her excitement of finally befriending Mirage personally.
Lizz and Mirage talked for a bit before splitting to do other things. Though, Lizz was unaware of how much saving she'd have to do that day. She rescued Octane from getting his legs stolen by some cheeky rick boys who thought they were funny, and she saved Loba from getting groped.
Lizz found this all extremely strange. She leaned on the wall, holding a glass of one of the only non-alcoholic beverages that were being served, and watched for any more potential assaults on her friends.
Lizz smells an odd smell. One she only smelled when Caustic was near.
"You've noticed it as well." The voice of Caustic says. Lizz turns her head to see the man himself standing there.
"Noticed what?" Lizz asked.
"Don't be dense. You've been stopping problems throughout the whole party so far."
"Yeah," Lizz says," It's weird. Do things like this always happen at y'alls parties?"
"No." Caustic replies. "Something's up."
"No doubt."
The light suddenly go dim and music starts playing. People start grouping up to dance.
"Stay alert." Caustic says.
"Aye aye." Lizz says, placing her now empty glass on the table next to her, then walking off.
Out of the corner of Lizz's eye she spots a boy looking at her. A fan maybe? Lizz figures it wouldn't be a bad idea to talk to him. Who knows. Might get some information as well.
Lizz saunters up to the boy. "Hello." She greets him.
"Hey." The boy smiles. By the smell of him he was around Lizz's age. Not only that but he smelled rich as well. "Enjoying the party?"
"Yeah. I've never been to a fancy party like this. It's a nice change of pace from the games."
"I'm sure it is." The boy chuckles.
Lizz and the boy look out to the crown of dancing people. It looked like a small rave.
"You wanna dance?" The boy asks.
"I really don't know how." Lizz says with a nervous chuckle.
"It's easy. Follow my lead." The boy says, taking off his suit jacket and waking over to the rave. Lizz follows, taking of hers as well.
The boy begins to dance and Lizz follows his lead as instructed. She's nervous at first, not making many bold moves, but she eventually gets comfortable and evolves from a shuffle into full blown hip swings.
Lizz wasn't bothered by the flashing lights or loud music. She was having too much of a good time to do so. She continues to dance with he boy.
"I never got your name." Lizz says as she dances.
"Oh, I'm sorry. It's Charlie!" The boy replies.
Mirage and Bangalore are dancing and overhear Lizz's conversation with Charlie.
"You think Lizz is gonna score tonight?" Mirage asks Bangalore.
"She's seventeen, Witt. The only scores she should be worrying about are test scores." Bangalore replies.
After about an hors of dancing Lizz and Charlie take a break. This break lasts a long time. Then they dance again. Then take another break. Then dance again. And it just goes on. Lizz was still keeping track of all the other legends. Occasionally going to save them from any harassers, then coming back to Charlie. Before they even knew it, it was night time.
Lizz was tuckered out, so was Charlie. They'd both danced their asses off.
"Hey, want something to drink?" Charlie asks Lizz.
"Yes please." Lizz replies and the two head to a table with a bowl of fresh punch.
Charlie pours Lizz a glass before speaking up.
"Hey I think one of your friends is calling you." He says, pointing behind Lizz.
That's weird. Lizz would've heard someone call her because the music had quieted down. Still, she looks over her shoulder to see if anyone had called her.
'Bloop'
Lizz's ear flicks back towards Charlie and she turns her head.
"I don't see anyone calling me." Lizz said, ignoring the noise. Though, there was a strange feeling in her gut.
"Really? Must be my imagination. Here ya go." Charlie gives Lizz her drink.
"Thanks." Lizz says, taking the drink.
As Lizz goes in to take a drink, she smells something... Chemicals?
Lizz has a brief flashback of her mother telling her to never take a drink from someone that smelled weird. Lizz sniffs the drink.
"Eh? Is something wrong?" Charlie asks. He sounded nervous and impatient.
Lizz puts the drink down, catching on to what was going on.
"No." Lizz says, setting the glass down. She gets and idea. "Say? Wanna explore upstairs?" She asks.
"We're only supposed to be down here, though." Charlie says.
"C'mon, live a little!" It'll be fun!" Lizz attempts to sway Charlie's mind."
"Welll... Okay." Charlie finally agrees.
Lizz grabs Charlie's hand and the two start headed upstairs. They enter though a door that shuts behind them.
The halls were dark with no lights. The only light source were the windows that let in moonlight. Lizz had excellent night vision, so she really didn't need it. As for Charlie, he couldn't see as much.
"Shouldn't we find a light switch?" Charlie asks.
"Nah. We're fine." Lizz says cheerfully.
Lizz held onto Charlies hand, being mindful of her claws. She could feel him begin to get nervous as his hand was slightly shaking.
Lizz lead Charlie to the end of the hall that was just a dead end.
"Doesn't seem to be anything interesting up here." Charlie says. "We should head back to the party."
Lizz turns to Charlie, still holding his hand. She grips his hand tighter. "Charlie..." Lizz says.
"Y-yes?"
"Did you try to drug me?"
"What? N-no! I... I'd never try to-ACK!" Lizz grip becomes tighter and she pulls Charlie towards her.
"Say again?" Lizz asks, it sounded more like a demand. She hears some bones pop in Charlie's hand.
"Hrrrn... Okay yes, I tried to drug you!" He yells.
"I see. Thank you for telling me the truth."
"Please let me go..."
"Hmm, okay." Lizz lets go of Charlie's hand. He holds onto it in pain.
"You have ten second to run, boy." Lizz threatens. Charlie's eyes go wide and he immediately runs towards the door at the other end of the hallway. Lizz only walks behind him, counting down the seconds in her head.
Charlie reaches the end of the hall and goes to open the door. It's locked. Before he could even attempt to unlock it Lizz grabs his shoulders, turns him around, and yanks him into the air by the collar of his shirt.
"Let me go, please..." Charlie could barely speak as Lizz was holding on tight.
Lizz suddenly slams Charlie onto the floor. Hard. He coughs up a little blood.
Lizz gets down on all fours and stands over Charlie. She growls, teeth bared and brings her head close to his. She was pissed.
"I've come close to eating humans before," Lizz growls," But that was when I had no control. However, I've always been curious about what you all taste like."
Charlie is breathing heavily and trying to get up, but Lizz pushes him back down with one paw.
"What were you planning to do with me?"
Charlie doesn't speak. Whatever he was planning to do he sure didn't want it out into the world.
Lizz snap her jaws in front of Charlie's face. He lets out a yelp then coughs.
Lizz hated to admit it, but she was enjoying this interrogation. It was rare for he to be in the position of power, so she wanted to enjoy it while it lasted.
Which was about two more seconds.
The door opens. Lizz looks up to see Bloodhound standing in the doorway.
"Help..." Charlie tries to yell, but can't.
"Lizz, what is going on?"
"This one tried to drug me." She growls.
"...I see." Bloodhound closes the door and locks it back. They pull out their axe. "May I?" They ask.
Lizz catches onto Bloodhound's plan and holds down Charlie. Bloodhound brings their axe next to Charlie's neck.
"Now, what were you planning to do with my friend?"
Charlie's face is white as a ghost. Bloodhound presses the blade of the axe onto Charlie's neck, not cutting it, but he knew it was there.
"I was... going to bring her... to the animals."
Lizz presses down harder on Charlie's chest. There's an audible cracking noise.
"I suggest telling us everything. If not, I don't think Lizz has any objections to mauling you." Lizz growls again.
"Okay... Just please... Let me up first..."
Lizz looks up to Bloodhound for approval. They nod and Lizz gets up off Charlie. Bloodhound then picks him up by his shoulders and stands him up in front of Lizz.
Bloodhound raises his axe over his head. "Try anything and this comes down on you." Charlie nods.
"Some of us humans have been working with he animals. All those people trying to get close to the legends tonight are working with them too. We were instructed to keep you all distracted and then attack."
"Attack when?" Lizz asks.
"Soon. They said soon after it got dark."
It had been thirty minutes since it'd gotten dark.
"Bloodhound we need to warn the other-"
There a crash and the windows behind Lizz shatter, leaving shards of glass everywhere in the hall. Lizz turns to see three animals. One of them being the wolf from before.
"Miss me, Lizzy?"
