Chapter Text
The next chapter was going to be BJ’s birthday celebration at the Deetz’ house. Not his actual birthday, they just wanted to celebrate, in case he had to go. Everyone gave him wonderful, heartfelt gifts to take with him when he left and it was going to be very emotional. (The main reason I never got started on this chapter was because I didn’t know what they were going to get him, lol. Really shot myself in the foot with this one!)
With the help of her new and horrible attorney, BJ’s mum won custody. Lydia was furious. BJ was happy, but also really messed up and confused over everything. He was so happy his mum wanted him, but really didn’t want to leave the Deetz’. They helped him pack up his bags and move.
The Deetz’ moped around with BJ for a chapter. Talked about how much he’d gone through and grown and how angry they were at his mother, now he wasn’t around to hear them say it.
Meanwhile BJ was having a bad time at his mum’s. They didn’t get along well, she didn’t know what to buy for him or how to cook for him. She moved her daytime smoking outside though, so there was that.
I’m fuzzy on the details I wanted, but basically she was going to give him a fake ID and ask him to buy alcohol for her. He did, very hesitantly, because he didn’t want to upset her.
Eventually he’d get in trouble with the police, and when they asked who they were to call he’d ask for the Deetz instead of his mother. I’m now very fuzzy on the details, but basically his mother would get sent back to rehab and BJ, now over 18, would be allowed to live with the Deetz.
The epilogue was going to be them officially adopting him, despite him now being over 18, because he was a part of their family. The Maitlands would be there, crying. They’d go out for ice cream, or something adjacent, and have a nice chat about home and family to round the fic off.
