Summary
Lydia uses logic to unravel Beetlejuice's plan – but that still leaves them with a massive problem in the form of a highly volatile demon, driven to acts of desperation to ensure he's never alone ever again.

Eleven-year-old Lydia Deetz doesn’t talk. She doesn’t see the point.
Ever since Mama died, she’s been invisible. Every attempt to reach out to her father has been rebuffed. Every adult she’s confided in just made things worse.
So now, she’s done. If nobody cares enough to listen, then she isn’t going to waste the effort to speak. Existence is exhausting enough without wasting energy on something that would just be ignored.
As far as her father and so-called ‘life coach’ are aware, Lydia hasn’t said a word in months.
After they make their abrupt move to Connecticut–yet another thing that Dad did without caring how Lydia felt about it–Lydia finds out that the new house is haunted by a very kind ghost couple who quickly take a shine to the quiet little girl.

Still struggling to settle into spectrehood, the Maitlands opt to resume their ghost lessons with Beetlejuice in exchange for some unorthodox compensation. Negotiating their new dynamic is difficult enough without throwing possession into the mix, and when things escalate the three of them are forced to confront some lingering trust issues.
Or, when Barbara's exorcism trauma rears its ugly head, the Maitlands decide to give Beetlejuice a taste of his own medicine. Everyone is happy about this.

A Beetlejuice/Oc fanfic where my self insert, Amber Deetz, is written into both movies and ends up having a…rather strange relationship with the ghost with the most. So far, most of the fanfic is a retelling of the movie but with Amber, aka me, inserted into the story. However I want to write so much more of their relationship with Beetlejuice, both before and after the second movie, so anything written after Chapter 10 will be oneshots. BTW; if anyone wants to request oneshots for this fic, I would be overjoyed if you did :)
Amber Deetz is 25 during the events of the first movie for anyone who’s wondering. They’re 10 years older than Lydia

However, the Age of Heroes has long passed. One half of Duixadore still believes that their chosen savior will come, and the other has completely abandoned it as a whole.
