Chapter Text

Kisuke should have expected something like this. Even though taking in two creatures from another dimension wasn't at all expected, much less bringing them into the fold as much as he has, he should have expected this.

He was working in his lab when he felt Ichigo leave, probably to fight a Hollow of some kind. Nothing new, he is, after all, still a Shinigami. Feeling Ghost and Hollow leave as well? That's something to worry about. He doesn't want Seireitei to know that they exist out of fear for what would happen to Hollow, and, by extension, what Ghost would do because of that.

At times, Ghost and Ichigo are more similar than Kisuke would like to admit.

Regardless of what could happen, Kisuke really should have expected what did happen. So now he's following the trio, ready to fight whatever tries to do anything to the two inhuman beings.

He watches as the Hollow comes into sight. It screams and goes to attack Ichigo before reiatsu that Kisuke instantly identifies as Ghost's unravels with a much louder, much more blood curdling scream. The Hollow recoils in fear as Hollow zips backwards. Ghost suddenly grows to a near monstrous size, easily dwarfing the Hollow as six glowing eyes stare it down, and six arms unfurl by their sides. Kisuke can't even feel the pressure of their reiatsu anymore. He looks at Ichigo, who seems to be concerned at the sudden change.

The six arms grab the Hollow, digging into it and shoving it into their body before shrinking back down to their usual size, reiatsu disappearing completely. They sign something to Ichigo before grabbing Hollow and disappearing into the night.

Kisuke returns to the shop to find Ghost and Hollow staring at each other intensely, a sign of their strange sometimes telepathic communication. He's ready to go back into the shop when the multilayered voice that Ghost used in their first meeting rings out in his head.

Sibling and us I have words. Important.

There's a couple thousand other things said in those two sentences, but those two are the loudest so probably what Ghost wanted projected most.

"Oh? And what do you have to say?" He turns around, hiding his face with his fan out of habit.

Ghost nods to Hollow, who turns to fully face Kisuke.

Sibling and I have been talking about who we are. As creatures and as people. They sign, looking nervous. We both were made to be nothing, an idea we both have struggled with in our own ways. They share a glance with Ghost, who just waves them off. Because of our different experiences in life, and because you have been nothing but kind to us since we appeared, we wanted you to be the first to know.

"Know what?" Kisuke asks, snapping shut his fan.

Hollow seems to take a moment before signing again. I would like to use he and they pronouns from now on. I have never felt empty or hollow, and while I would like to have a name of my own choosing, Hollow is also the name given by my sibling. Sibling would like to use it and they pronouns because of experiences they would rather share in confidence when they feel it is right. Hollow seems to curl into themselves, and Kisuke is reminded of the anger Ghost holds for their father.

Kisuke hums, briefly mulling over the information. "Okay. Do you want to tell everyone else or should I do that?"

I will tell them Hollow signs. I must

Kisuke smiles and gently pats the space between the horns of Hollow's mask. "Alright. With that, it's time you two go to bed. I know you don't sleep but relaxing is important."

You don't relax ever

"I'm also a couple hundred years old."

So are we you aren't special

"Yes I am and no you're not now go to bed."
