Chapter Text
The wedding was fast approaching, and the other earth guests were already starting to show up. The first to arrive was Ray and Leo. Barry and Cisco were in the cortex when the portal opened down the hall.
Leo strode into the room in his usual flourish, "So, what's this I'm hearing about a wedding?"
"Hey, Leo," Barry turned his attention to the newcomers. He gave him and Ray a hug each. "Hey, Ray." He chuckled, "Yeah, Sara is actually getting married. Oliver said he never thought he'd see the day, but he agrees that it's a perfect match."
Leo smirked, "I'm glad things worked out between her and Ava."
Cisco and Barry looked at each other in confusion. Ray chuckled, "He never reads the whole thing when it comes to that kind of thing. He sees ‘wedding’, and he's excited."
Leo pouted slightly, "I'm just hoping Sara's going to be happy."
Barry smiled softly, "She will be. She already is. Len is really and truly the one for her. He sees her as an equal and treats her as one."
"Len?" The other cold gun user questioned.
Cisco's eyes widened. "You really didn't read, did you?"
The Speedster shrugged, "He doesn't like being called Leo. It's what his piece of crap father called him as a kid."
Ray exchanged a look with his husband. "Who is Len?"
"Oh," Barry laughed, "sorry. Len is our Earth's Leonard Snart."
"I thought he'd died a few years ago. I was told exactly that while I was on the Waverider."
The engineer nodded. "Oh, he was. Kinda. More like literally frozen in the time stream. Like, he's an ice based Metahuman now."
"What happened to Ava? Her and Sara were together not too long ago." Leo tapped his chin before turning his confused gaze on Barry and Cisco.
A growl tore from Barry. “She’s in some version of a jail at the Refuge after trying to not only recreate the Oculus to control our free will, but also trying to kill Len for getting rid of the Time Masters. I had to stop a bullet from hitting him.”
Cisco blew out a rough breath, “No one’s gonna hurt him. She, honestly, just needs to be thankful Nate and Amaya didn’t let go of Mick. He’d have burned her alive. Len showed some massive restraint. He just froze her gun.”
The Speedster snorted, “If it had been before we met and made our agreement, he would have shot an ice shard through her heart.”
Leo’s jaw fell open. “I would never have guessed she would do something like that. She was such a perfect match for Sara.”
Ray slipped over, leaning against his husband, “She seemed like the kind that would give her structure, something Sara looked to need to help her settle.”
“I don’t think it’s rules and structure that Sara really needs to calm her.” Oliver’s voice broke in as he entered the cortex. “It’s an equal partner that respects her that she needs. That’s Len.”
The parka wearing freedom fighter frowned, “I’ll be the judge of that.”
Barry bristled, “What say do you have?”
Leo’s eyes widened, “Sara’s my friend. I want her to be with someone that is actually right for her.”
Ray placed a hand on the other man’s shoulder. “You have to meet him first, Leo. You don’t like when people judge you before they meet you. Give him the same courtesy.”
The man scoffed but didn’t argue. He’d wait and talk to the man, put some pressure on him to really get to see who he was. He knew what he’d read in Gideon’s files, and he still didn’t believe a man willing to kill his own father was good enough for Sara.
*********
Sara jumped slightly at the sound of her cell phone sounding from a text message. She groaned, “Gideon, read the message, please.”
She was working on designing her dress. She already knew it would be the perfect fit, but she wanted it to be a perfect look for her as well.
Over the intercom, Gideon spoke, “Barry Allen messaged to let you know that Leo and Ray of Earth X have arrived and have learned of Sharp’s arrest. They have also learned of Leonard Snart being the groom.”
Sara frowned, “How did they not know that Len is the groom? It was on the damn invitation. Len got a squee call from Kara the night after it was delivered.”
“I cannot say, Captain Lance.”
The assassin sighed heavily. Why did they even bother with giving any information at all? “I guess let Barry know I appreciate the warning. I’ll figure out a time to go by and talk with them as soon as I can.”
“Yes, Captain.”
Sara shook her head as she continued to look through pieces for her wedding dress. After a moment, she groaned. This was why she hated dresses.
*******
Len slipped into the cortex to check in with Barry. He knew he had to keep on top of the other man to make sure he did his part for the wedding on time. He also had a list of foods to make for the reception. He was going to be meeting up with Oliver later in the afternoon to go over the menu as well. He’d rather be able to help out with the cooking, but since he was the groom, he’d been out voted and kicked out of the kitchen.
He blinked at the sight of his doppelganger standing in the cortex but no Barry or Cisco. He sauntered on into the room. This was Sara’s friend, more or less. He could be...agreeable. “So, I see Scarlet isn’t around at the moment.”
The other man spun around, ridiculous goggles around his neck. “You must be ‘Len’.” The mental air quotes were evident.
“And you’re Leo. Glad we could clear all that up. And it’s nice to finally meet you. The crew seems to like you.”
Leo snorted, “Sure. So, you’re the one marrying Sara?” He sauntered over to the thief. “I read your file on the Waverider. Thief, liar, murderer, supervillain. Perfect for a woman trying her best to be better.” The sarcasm in the other worlder’s voice was thick.
Len raised an eyebrow. “Yeah, that is my resume. It’s what got me on the Waverider in the first place. With me on the Waverider, she didn’t blow a hole in the Professor’s head back in the eighties.”
The other man scoffed, “And who put her in that position in the first place?”
“Raymond,” he deadpanned. “Boy genius got not only himself captured but Stein and Mick as well. Before that, Martin got himself in trouble.”
Leo frowned. He wasn’t exactly expecting that. “You suggested the killing of a child during that mission.”
“Rip started that little train off. That same child becomes a worse overlord than Hitler.” He gave the other man a pointed look.
“I still don’t believe you are good enough to be marrying Sara. You aren’t what she needs in her life. She needs someone that isn’t going to just up and leave her when the next best thing comes along, or things get hard between you.”
Len glared at him, “You don’t know me. I’m not going to leave Sara. There is no next best thing.”
“Mick was your partner.”
“He still is,” Len shrugged.
“And yet you left him for dead, made the others think you’d actually killed him so they wouldn’t save him themselves.”
“No, I left him there in order to come back for him later after he’d had a chance to cool down. I didn’t want him going anywhere near anyone our crew loved, and that included my baby sister who he later threatened to kill over and over. I never went back to get him because I blew up the Oculus. Can’t exactly save someone while frozen and stuck in the time stream.”
“You killed your own father,” Leo growled. “Family is everything! But you killed your own father, killed him in cold blood.”
Len snarled, “You are chastising me for killing that abusive bastard? He put a bomb in my sister’s neck to threaten me into pulling a deadly heist that was doomed to fail because he was the one to plan it. I’ve taken the damn fall for him enough times, and I refused to let my sister die because our piece of crap father who could only show his love through his fists and belt.”
The other earther’s eyes widened at the sharp comment. Before he could say anything in return, Len continued, “You don’t get to come in here having only read a file on me, not knowing me at all, and judge me. You don’t know anything about my life or me as a person. The only reason you were even invited is because Sara wanted you here, so back the hell off of me.”
Barry walked into the cortex at that moment, eyes wide at the hostility in Len’s voice and shock on Leo’s face. “What’s going on?”
Len turned to him seething, “I stopped by to go over food choices for the reception and got told I wasn’t good enough for Sara because of my history. I apparently have a history of walking away from the people I care about or simply don’t care enough to stick it out, and I don’t care about my family because I killed my father.”
Electricity flashed through Barry’s eyes. “What did I tell you, Leo? I told you, you didn’t know anything about him, and you didn’t have a right to try and say anything to Len. You should have simply tried to get to know him, not jump in all judgy. I’ll be talking to Ray, getting him to put you on the obviously short leash you need to be on.” The Speedster turned to Len, “Don’t listen to him. Let’s go look at the catering list in my lab.” His attention went back to Leo, “Go back to wherever you and your husband decided on staying.”
Barry draped an arm over Len’s shoulders and led him from the room. The thief pinched the bridge of his nose as he walked with the Speedster to a lab deep within the overall building. It took a few minutes, even after they’d arrived in the smaller lab, for him to be able to start calming down. It was the closest he’d come to an anxiety attack in years, but to have someone with his face tell him he wasn’t good enough for the woman he loved was heartbreaking and enough to have those feelings begin to crawl to the surface.
The CSI was quiet during the whole walk even though he was tense and wanted to say more. He knew it wouldn’t help Len in that moment. Shortly after getting into the other room and Len was able to get his reaction back under control, Barry went on to distract him with talk of the catering portion of the wedding. If he sent out a text to Sara to let her know what happened with Leo, well, he had superspeed and Len didn’t have to know just yet.
*******
Sara growled at the text Gideon read for her that time. Leo had done what, now? Implied that Len wasn’t right for her? Oh, things were not going to end well for him if he didn’t come up with a good reason for acting like he did.
“Save the alterations to the dress for me, Gideon. I’ve got a freedom fighter to hunt down and maim.”
“Of course, Captain Lance.”
With that, Sara marched out of the replicator room and down the hall and out of the Waverider. Ray had texted her earlier to let her know he and Leo were staying with Joe since he had the most room. She jumped on her motorcycle and floored it there to see just what Leo had to say for himself.
When she arrived, Leo was just walking up the steps to the porch. He turned at the sound of the motorcycle, and she could see him flinch at the sight of her. Good, he needed to be scared. If he screwed this up for her, she was going to kill him.
“Leo! What the hell did you do?!”
She watched the man flinch and stumble at her tone. That wasn’t going to be the last time during their conversation the other earther was going to feel fear. Ray quickly rushed out of the house to see what was going on, but by then, Sara already had Leo pressed to the wall beside the door, forearm pressed tightly against his throat. Ray yelped at the sight and quickly tried to pull Sara off his husband before her phone was shoved in his face, explaining why she was attempting to kill the other man.
“I have waited too damn long for someone to love me and see me as an equal, despite and because of my past. You better damn well pray you didn’t just ruin this for me. Because, Leo, I will kill you. And it won’t be a mercifully quick death either.” Her bloodlust was seeping into her voice, eyes showing a feral quality.
Ray hissed, “What did you do?”
Leo looked over at his husband, mouth working but nothing more than a raspy gasp coming from his lips could be heard. He only managed, “Sara, I,” before the air caught in his throat again. He could see there was no help coming his way from Ray. The other man simply stood with his arms crossed over his chest.
Ray wasn’t going to help his husband out of this one. No, he had to fix this himself, but he was sure Sara wouldn’t kill him, not really, he was fairly sure anyway. But it was probably better if they did this inside. She’d be less likely to destroy Joe’s house, and they’d all be less likely to get Joe called on them. Thus, he cleared his throat, “How about we take this inside before a neighbor sees us. I don’t want to cause Leonard any more problems than Leo already has.”
Sara gave a sharp nod before pulling away from Leo, putting him in a wrist lock and forcing him inside the house. Ray sighed as he followed. This was going to be interesting, he thought sarcastically.
*********
Len sighed as he made his way to C.C. Jitters to meet up with Oliver. Barry had helped to take his mind off Leo’s comments, but he just couldn’t completely shake them. Oh, he knew Leo had no say over what he and Sara decided, and there was no understanding between them. It was just that knowledge that there were people out there, even ones with his face, that would judge his entire being on his past alone was disturbing. He wondered what kind of problems that would cause for him in the future.
He saw Oliver almost immediately upon opening the door to the cafe. He tucked the folder he had with him under his arm and stepped in line to grab a drink before meeting up with his friend. Once he had a drink in hand, he made his way to the archer, taking a seat in front of him.
“Oliver,” He greeted.
The blonde smirked at him, giving him a nod in return. He motioned to the folder, “You’ve already let Barry look at it?”
Len nodded, handing it to him, “He’s made some notes in the margins, wants you to look at them and see what you think.”
Oliver flipped through them, studying Barry’s comments in some places. After a few minutes, he heard Leonard sigh heavily. Then came another voice.
“Leonard Snart, you are under arrest.” The voice was angry and sharp.
Oliver looked up from the papers to see a young police officer standing there with a gun raised at Len.
“And what, pray tell, am I being arrested for?” Len drawled.
“You killed my father,” the cop bit out.
“Certainly don’t remember that.”
Oliver stood and walked over, “I think you have the wrong guy. Leonard hasn’t killed anyone, not recently.” His arms were crossed over his chest, “Besides, haven’t you heard that he’s been pardoned by the president herself?”
“I don’t care! A murderer like him shouldn’t be allowed outside of a jail cell.”
Len rolled his eyes before slowly pulling out his cellphone. He didn’t want to startle the most likely trigger-happy beat cop. With an exasperated sigh, he called Joe at the precinct. In the background, Oliver was still trying to disarm the situation. It took a moment before Joe answered his call. Len explained the situation after the other man greeted him.
“Put the idiot on the phone, Len.” Joe sighed.
“Don’t go too hard on him, his dad died at some point.”
Joe scoffed, “Just hand the guy the phone.”
He shrugged as he turned to the man with the gun, “Joe West wants to talk to you about your police harassment issue.”
The cop narrowed his eyes, “Do you actually expect me to believe that’s Detective West?” He snatched the phone out of the thief’s hand, “I don’t know what he did to put you,” he was cut off sharply, and his eyes widened.
Len and Oliver watched as the man’s jaw went slack in shock then flinched at whatever Joe was saying to him on the other side of the line. After a moment, anger flashed along his eyes once again, “I’m sure there’s something we can process that has him committing some crime since that pardon. He just can’t help himself. And I know he killed my father!”
The archer looked over at Len, “Is he really suggesting they try and pin something on you?”
The thief shrugged, “Wouldn’t be the first time.”
Oliver frowned at that before turning to the cop still arguing with Joe over the phone. “When did your father get killed?”
The comment was enough to startle the cop from his argument. “A year ago,” he answered. “But what does that have to do with anything?”
“It wasn’t Leonard then. He was on a mission with the Legends at that time.”
“He wasn’t anywhere they appeared for the last two years,” the officer replied with a smirk.
“He’s a master at stealth, has to be. If he didn’t want to be seen, he wasn’t seen.”
Leonard finally sighed, “Look, kid. You can either listen to the mayor of Star City and Detective West, or I can simply talk to Captain Singh about pressing charges for police harassment. You choose.”
The man growled, threw down Leonard’s phone, and spun on his heel, “This isn’t over, you filthy murderer. I’ll have you brought to justice over my father.”
Len rolled his eyes as he picked up his phone, “Sorry about that, Joe. Brat didn’t get what he wanted, so he threw my phone down. I may go through with my threat of a lawsuit against him for harassment and even add in vandalism.”
Oliver eyed him, and he simply shrugged. The archer shook his head as Leonard finished with his call to Joe. “Let’s finish going over the stuff for the wedding. It’s just a couple of days away, and I want to make sure I have everything we need. I don’t want Barry having to speed out every few minutes to get anything we forget, especially with his tendency to be late and him being a groomsman.”
Len snorted and nodded. “It’s sad that not even superspeed can cure that chronic lateness.”
The archer nodded, watching the other man closely as he sat down. After a moment, he spoke, “What’s going on in that head of yours, Len? You get the same look Felicity does when she can’t stop thinking about something that’s bothering her.”
Leonard blinked in slight surprise, “I have the same look as Felicity?” He snorted, “Wow.” He smirked at his friend, “Like what you see, Ollie?”
Oliver rolled his eyes, “Shut up, Snart. And stop trying to deflect. What’s wrong?”
Finally, Len deflated, “I’m just wondering if that’s going to be my life from now on. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m not ashamed of who I was in the past. Look where it’s led me. But I just can’t help but wonder how that’s going to haunt us in the future. I don’t want it to cause Sara or us any problems.”
The archer was quiet for a moment before slowly nodding, “I understand that.” He paused, thinking of how to word what he wanted to say next. “I’ve had a lot of my playboy, rich kid past thrown in my face as I worked to become mayor. People don’t exactly respect someone that promises to take care of their city after they’ve lost their company because of a foolish mistake.”
Len tapped his fingers on the table, “Thought it was twice you lost it, and one of those times was to Raymond.”
Oliver rolled his eyes again, “Stop trying to deflect. You’re worried that your past is going to be a problem for your future.” He eyed the man across the table. “I never thought you’d be the kind that cared what other people thought of you and your past.”
Leonard roughly ran a hand over his head, “That was before my doppelganger bluntly told me I wasn’t good enough for Sara because of my past and then a cop threatened me with a gun and wanted to pin a theft I didn’t do on me because of who I am. I really wouldn’t have worried if it were just me. Again, I’m not ashamed. But I don’t want this to come back on Sara or anyone else I care about.”
The archer was quiet for a bit, slowly nodding. “It’s normal to be worried about your future, especially now that you have more family all around you. Just remember that the only ones that count is that family. We’ve got your back, and we will take care of you anyway you need us to.” He gave the other man a rueful smile, “It’s something that Felicity and Diggs painstakingly taught me. We’ve got to trust the people in our lives to know us and to be there with us.”
The thief pinched the bridge of his nose, “I know. It’s just something I have a hard time with since most criminals aren’t exactly reliable, and that was the kind of people I surrounded myself with for most of my life. It’s just ingrained.”
Oliver nodded in understanding. He got that, more so after the years around the island. In that time, he’d never really trusted anyone but Tommy and Thea, not even Laurel, and that probably should have been a warning sign all on its own. But he’d grown a lot since leaving that island. He’d gained so much, so much he could lose if he turned his back on them all, including the family he had now. “You’ll prove Leo and that cop wrong, Len. You’re too damn stubborn not to.”
Len gave a small snort. Oliver wasn’t wrong. Not completely. “Let’s finish up this little review of food items for the wedding so we can leave before we get disturbed once again. There’s a woman in the corner that’s been eyeing you since the whole police incident. I think you have a fan.”
“Or an enemy,” he murmured.
Regardless, they were able to finish with their plans for the catering. Oliver offered to take the information over to Barry while Len went back home to the Waverider to check in with Sara.
*******
Leo really wasn’t sure how he’d gotten himself into this mess. Ray wasn't even trying to help him. He cleared his throat, “Look, Sara, I’m just worried that you aren’t going to get the commitment from that man that you deserve. You need someone that will always be there for you and love you. I’m just not sure he can give you that.”
Sara glared at the man that had the face of her lover, “You are right, I do deserve someone like that. That person is Len. He’s always treated me as an equal, from day one. He loves me in a way you don’t understand because, even though you have the same face, you are not him. You’ve had your own horrors to face, and he’s had his. The both of you have had your lives manipulated in different ways that forced you to become the very different people you are. You can get to know him and decide then, or you can simply shut up and let us have this.”
“I just don’t want you to get hurt. I can’t see you marry someone that doesn’t have any follow through. I read his file, Sara. He tried to kill Mick because of a misunderstanding.”
“Misunderstanding? Mick tried to kill us after sentencing the rest of the crew to death by time pirates. Len understood his best friend was in a bad place mentally and needed to cool his head. The only reason he wasn’t able to go back and get him was because he was blown up by the Oculus. He saved our free will, Leo. And I’m going to marry him. You and Ray can go home, or you can go home by yourself if you can’t stand the idea of me getting my happy ending.” She watched him with a slightly disappointed look. “You got yours, don’t Len and I deserve ours?”
She stood and walked out the door of Joe’s house. Leo frowned as he watched her simply leave. He’d figured she was going to kill him. He never expected the shame he felt.
Ray sighed, “Let it go, Leo, baby. She obviously sees what you don’t when it comes to this man. I know you worry, but Sara does seem very happy, and the others also really like him. I think you need to give him a chance. Especially since you could lose the friendship of an entire earth.”
Leo sighed heavily, leaning back into the seat. He pinched the bridge of his nose. “Fine. I’ll try to find out what all of them like about him. And I’ll be supportive of Sara, and when this marriage goes sideways, I’ll be there to comfort her.”
“How about we not say their marriage is doomed before it starts, at least not to literally any of them?” He eyed his husband, “Besides, that’s what we’re here for, support. Just give it a chance.”
Leo crossed the room, gently caressing Ray’s cheek, “For you, I will.” He gently kissed the other man.
Ray gently stood and tugged Leo up to their room.
*******
The next few days saw the wedding coming closer. Kara came over a few days early in order to get with Cisco and Lisa about the song they were going to sing. They needed the time to practice.
Sara and Len kept to themselves throughout those days, mostly. They worked with the groomsmen and bridesmaids. Len and Sin got along very well, better than Sara had thought after the disaster first meeting between him and Leo.
It was the night before the wedding and, neither of them being ones for tradition, the couple was curled together in his bed in his apartment. Sara’s hands were threaded through his as she played with his fingers.
Leonard brushed her hair from her face, kissing her forehead. “Do you think we’re going to have any problems with Leo tomorrow?” His voice was quiet, but she could hear the slight worry in his voice.
“If he doesn’t want to make Ray a widower, then he’ll keep his damn mouth shut.” She turned to look up at him, propping herself up on her forearm. “His opinion doesn’t matter anyway. He’ll be going home to a whole other earth, and we won’t have to deal with him anymore if we don’t want to.” She leaned down to kiss him gently. “Just one more day, Len.” She kissed him again. “Then we’ll have two weeks just to ourselves,” another kiss, “not having to worry about some crisis in the past or future.” Another, longer kiss, “Not having to worry about interruptions from the crew.” She slipped over him, nuzzling into Len’s neck, lips moving against his throat, “Just us, alone, deciding if we want to stay in bed all day or sightsee for once.”
He groaned quietly, “We’ll decide that when the time comes.”
He could feel the smirk on her lips still pressed against his neck, “I have a decision for right now.” She shifted against him, leaning back to smirk at him. “You up for it?”
His hands grasped her hips. “I think I can get up to speed.”
Sara laughed, dropping her head to capture his lips again. Soon, he was softly flipping them over, and they lost themselves in the moment.
*********
The next morning, Gideon awoke the couple for the day. Mick was already in the kitchen in his apartment, and had been for a couple of hours. Oliver and Barry were on food prep, getting ready for the reception. Both were very glad they had a small group in attendance. Sure, they had to feed a Speedster, but not a Speedster and a hundred people. Barry and Iris had a relatively small wedding, especially in comparison to Oliver and Felicity’s Star City wedding, but Len and Sara’s was going to be even smaller.
The wedding was going to be in the afternoon, but they had to get to the venue early so they could get ready. The Waverider was already in the parking lot of the Central City civic center. Oliver and Barry worked to bring their prepped food to the kitchen of the building. Ray, Nate, and Jax worked on the altar. Mark, Shawna, and Roy set up the chairs. Thea, Iris, and Caitlyn decorated the isle, laying a mat down the center. Wally and Jesse worked on lighting, giving everything a soft glow. Once everything was in place, the decoration crew left to work on the reception hall, quickly finishing it as well. After everything was set up, they went to get themselves ready for the main events.
In the groom’s dressing room, the group could hear Mick grumbling about having to wear a suit and tie. He’d do it for Lenny, but he’d let him know how annoyed he was with it. The suits were black and perfectly fitted. The ties were a sharp blue that perfectly popped against the black. The white shirts were crisp. All four of them looked perfectly incredible.
Len, Mick, Oliver, Diggle, and Barry at the assigned time, walked out to the altar area, meeting Martin as he prepared himself to perform the wedding. The guests were all already seated. Roy was playing the wedding portion of the soundtrack. Once in place, Martin smiled at them.
Len nodded back before leaning over to his best friend, “You did remember the rings, right?”
The larger man patted his breast pocket, “Don’t worry. I got ‘em, boss.”
The altar was made of two large white pillars flanking the orator. White hydrangeas and baby’s breaths sat atop the pillars, draping over the front edge. Glass, cylindrical vases curled around the front of the pillars at the bottom, over white rose petals. White with blue shimmer painted branches filled the tallest one on either side. Silver balls of varying sizes filled the remaining vases.
Along the isle, small young white blossomed crepe myrtles were at the end of each row, clear Christmas lights decorating them. Glass lanterns hung from the thin branches. An ice blue roll-out carpet lined the floor between the two short isles up to the altar. The lights were dimmed, causing the soft tea lights and twinkling Christmas lights to illuminate the scene.
It was only moments later that the music changed, and a hush went over the room. Everyone turned to the entranceway to see Felicity standing there in a crisp dark blue dress with snowflake pattern blue crystals. The thick straps curled around the back of her neck. The dress gently flowed around her body, brushing the floor, white heels peeking out from under it. Her long blonde hair was in an intricate updo, held in place by a branch shaped shimmering barrette courtesy of her mother. In her hands was a bouquet of aqua blue hydrangeas.
Slowly, Felicity began to walk down the aisle towards the altar. Moments after she started her walk, Zari started her slow walk, her bouquet and dress matching Felicity’s, complementing her darker skin tone just as well as it complemented the hacker’s pale complexion. Finally, Amaya was walking down the aisle. Then, at the back of the procession was Sin. Her dress and bouquet matched the others, but her short black hair was windswept to the side, pinned with the same barrette the other women were wearing. She paced slowly away from the entryway.
At a certain distance, Roy changed the music once again, this time to the tune of the wedding march. Moments later, Sara and Quentin emerged at the entryway. Slowly, they walked towards the altar. Sara’s dress was a pale blue with white lace in a snowflake pattern. The pale blue, thick silk straps covered her shoulders and fell down her back. It was fitted and fell gently to the floor to sway over her feet. A short train followed her. Her bouquet was made of white calla-lilies with dark blue centers fading out to the outer middle. Soon, they were standing in front of the altar and Leonard.
Quentin smiled gently at Len as he handed his daughter’s hand over to him. He clasped there joined hands in his and murmured, “I’m so proud of you both.”
He slipped away from them and to his seat beside Donna, mentally frowning at the fact that his ex-wife wasn’t present. She couldn’t even come to their living daughter’s wedding.
Len and Sara held hands, after she handed her bouquet to Sin, staring at each other with eyes full of love, something neither ever thought they would truly have. Martin cleared his throat as the music ended. “We are gathered here today to witness the joining of Leonard Snart and Sara Lance. A joining that we all waited for, painstakingly, for far too long.” There were multiple chuckles. “And on this monumental day, we are finally being rewarded with their marriage. With everything we’ve had to deal with and had to watch between them, this is indeed a reward for us. They’ll be off on their honeymoon soon.” There were more chuckles.
After clearing his throat, he continued the ceremony, sobering the group up some. He kept the ceremony short and entertaining. Len and Sara made their own vows, ones so very unique to themselves and their relationship. Applause rang out as the two took their first kiss as a married couple. The couple lead the wedding party out to loud cheering.
The wedding party made their way to get pictures taken while the rest of the group headed over the reception hall. It didn’t take long for the wedding party to join them. They were a small group and none of them were big on taking roll after roll of pictures. Martin stepped up in the place of father for Len and of course Lisa was there with him. Donna took Dinah’s place with Sara and Quentin.
The reception area was covered in white gauze and soft blue Christmas lights. The tables were decorated with royal blue table clothes and the chairs had simple white satin threaded through the top rungs. The centerpieces were crystal vases containing bouquets of white hydrangeas mixed with blue and white gladiolus.
Barry and Oliver were soon getting the food out, glad that there weren’t more people than they had. Speeches began once the food was served. Sin told the group present of how Sara took care of her after her father died, and she’d come back from the League. Sara was the one that gave her the strength to keep going and find her place in the world. Mick was next, telling a couple of stories of Len from their younger days, and how he never expected his partner in crime to ever find someone that was his perfect match because he was so damn picky and paranoid. There were a couple of stories of Sara during the time Len was gone, showing how much she’d tried to bury her feelings for Len. Then came the exasperating stories of the two together and how everyone could see what they couldn’t. Except Ray and Nate apparently. Lisa told her stories of the incredible big brother that was her everything, that raised her, and showed her the only familial love she got as a child. Quentin told stories of the fiery little girl he raised, and though she made some mistakes, he was still so incredibly proud of the woman she’d become.
As the speeches ended, Roy started the music up once again. Thea drug her brother out onto the dance floor. Little J.J. was out there, too, showing Mark up, and thoroughly entertaining Axel. William danced with Felicity while Donna drug Quentin out there beside them. Mick and Caitlyn danced some, though for Mick it was mostly moving his head to the beat. Caitlyn had a little bit too much to drink already, so she wasn’t quite as reserved as usual, letting go more than most would think. Mick’s eyes showed all of his amusement from behind his beer. The others were all dispersed around the room for a time.
Half way through the night, Sara and Len had their dance together, a slow sensual dance that surprised literally no one. Suddenly, the sound of slow piano keystrokes began, catching everyone’s attention. The lights immediately changed and a spot light fell on Kara, Lisa, and Cisco. In perfect harmony with husky voices, they drawled out the first line of the song they’d agreed upon and practiced, “And I’ll use you as a warning sign…”
The three continued the beautiful ballad, everyone’s rapt attention focused solely on them. The entire room was silent beyond the three singers and the soft music playing in the background. As the song came to an end and the lights slowly returned to the original brightness, the room remained silent until, suddenly, the entire room exploded into applause. The three, as sheepishly as they each were capable of, slipped back to their seats, satisfied with their performance.
The music began again and the floor was slowly filled up with couples dancing, or possibly having a seizure in Cisco’s case.
Sara leaned against Len, looking out at the group present. She gave a soft sigh. Len glanced down at her. “Happy?”
She smiled up at him, “So happy. This was perfect, considering our history.”
He chuckled, “Fortunately we won’t have the actual ceremony wrecked by some crisis.” He smiled as he looked out at the group that came to see their wedding. “What’s bothering you? Leo didn’t even give you a reason to make Ray a widower.”
She laughed softly before sobering up once again, scanning the crowd. “Mom didn’t come.” She sighed, tucking her head in closer. “I mean, I don’t really think I actually expected her to come, but I think I’d hoped she’d finally respect me enough to respect my decision that I would actually benefit from.”
Len placed a kiss on her head, “The people here are the ones that count. You tried day after day to get her involved with the preparation for today, and she never made the effort to join you. That’s all on her. She’s not worth it, Sara. These people, even that annoying Leo, are.”
She gave a slightly forced laugh. “Are you ever going to give him a little respite?”
Len snorted, “Not even a little bit.”
She smiled up at him, before leaning up and kissing him soundly. Moments later, a throat was cleared. The two broke apart and turned to see Leo and Ray standing there. Len smirked at the man, and Sara simply shook her head.
“Hey. So, did you enjoy our wedding?” Sara didn’t really care if they’d enjoyed it or not, but she was curious.
“It was beautiful,” Ray answered.
Leo nodded, “And I’m willing to say, after what I’ve heard today, that I may have been a bit hasty to pass judgement.” He turned to Len, “Maybe, you are just the right one for her.” He smiled at both of them, “Congratulations.”
Sara smiled, “Thanks.”
Len chuckled, “Finally pulling your head out of your ass?”
His doppelganger rolled his eyes, “I take it back. You’re horrible.”
Ray, laughing, shoved his husband away from the couple. He pushed him back to the dance floor. It wasn’t too long before Quentin was stepping up to Sara for a father-daughter dance. Leonard smiled after his wife as she danced happily with her dad. He could easily see the love between them, something he never felt.
Suddenly he felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned to see Lisa standing there. “I know,” she began, “that usually the groom dances with their mother as their staple dance, but since she’s gone, how about it be a brother-sister dance?”
He smiled gently at his baby sister, standing, “I’ll do the same for you if you ever decide to get to this point.”
As he led her to the dance floor her eyes found Cisco and softened, even though he still looked like he was having a seizure as he danced. “Yeah. I’ll hold you to it.” Her voice was soft as they began to sway to the music, leaning into her brother’s chest.
He hugged her closer as they danced, no real form to it at all. It was a moment, just for them. The rest of the room faded away as they continued to simply sway together.

Len and Sara walked around to the room, talking to their guests. Moments later, Sara had arms wrapped around her with a shout of happiness. After the moment of surprise, she registers Kendra’s voice. “Kendra! I’m so glad you made it!”
The dark-haired woman pulled away, smiling brightly at her friend. “I’m glad I could see the two of you finally getting married.” She turned to Len, “And I am so happy to see you are alive.”
He smiled at her, “Good to see you not being chased by an immortal psychopath.”
Kendra laughed before stepping up to him and hugged him as well. “Welcome back, Leonard.”
After a tense moment, he hugged back. Once they pulled away from each other, Len was reintroduced to Carter and introduced to their son. There was yet another child that became fascinated with the thief. Sara thought it was adorable.
The night began to wind down slowly after that. They talked and laughed with each other more, it becoming more like one of their usual celebratory after-crisis parties. And then, the night came to an end, and the next morning, Sara and Leonard were going off on their honeymoon.
The last of the attendees began to say their goodbyes. Cisco and Lisa guided a very tipsy Caitlyn out of the convention center, Barry and Iris following at a more sedate pace. Sara leaned over deeper into Len’s side, “I have to say, I’m very glad Barry decided to not bring the special Speedster juice.”
Len frowned, pulling a slightly disgusted look. “Speedster what?”
The blonde laughed, “Speedster juice. It’s a special additive Caitlyn made that works to get Speedsters drunk. Apparently, the last time Barry had any was during his bachelor party and, well, they got arrested, even Joe. Harry had to bail them out.”
Leonard paused before beginning to laugh. The Speedster in question turned from where he stood closer to the door, giving them a questioning look. The ice user noticed the look and called out, “Sara was just telling me of a bachelor party I would have loved to have been gifted the security footage from.”
Barry blinked for a moment, not sure what he was meaning when suddenly he realized and groaned. “Seriously, Sara? You had to tell him about that? How did you even find out about that?”
Sara laughed, “Ralph was complaining that Len didn’t have a bachelor party because he bet his would be even wilder. It was right before I nearly broke his wrist. I don’t think he realized I was the bride-to-be.”
Barry pinched the bridge of his nose before sighing, “Sorry to disappoint, Len, but I had Cisco and Felicity wipe every bit of evidence of that night from every news outlet and camera system. Seriously, it’s all gone.”
The thief nodded with a slight frown, “Your little drunken excursion may be erased or buried, but Caitlyn’s wasn’t.” He smirked at his friend, “It was ‘Summer Lovin’, correct?”
Barry groaned again, “How did you find out about that?”
“I never reveal my sources, Barry. You know that.”
The Speedster rolled his eyes before turning and leading a laughing Iris, “Have fun on your honeymoon. And thanks again for taking my patrol the night of the banquet.”
The newlyweds shook their heads, chuckling. They glanced around themselves after the other couple left. Mick was dragging a drunk Ray out of the room while carrying a drunk Nate over his shoulder. The only other people in the room were the janitorial staff left behind to clean up after them.
Sara gave a yawn, “Time for bed, my beloved husband.” She turned to look up at him through her lashes with a slight smirk.
“Yes, time for bed, my lovely wife.” He pulled her into a deep kiss.
Soon they were off to his apartment to celebrate their first night as a married couple.

The next morning, Sara and Len headed to the Waverider early, looking far more refreshed than the rest of their crew. Rip was fairly put together, but he was the only one. He leaned against the center console on the bridge. He looked up from what he was reading.
“Ah, the newlyweds are here.” He chuckled, “Congratulations once again. Ready to take the jumpship?”
Len sauntered up to him, “It’s about time we go and have our nice vacation away from,” he waved his hand to indicate the entire ship, “all of this.” He wrapped an arm around Sara’s shoulders, pulling her into his side.
“It’s all yours. Have fun, both of you. I am so thankful to have you both on this team. See you in two weeks.”
Both nodded to him before walking down the hallway to the jumpship. Rip watched them both walk away, a smirk present on his lips and a knowing look in his eyes. It was all coming together.

Sara sat at the controls as Len looked over their bags for their trips. There were multiple time periods they were going to, some he’d visited in the past, others Sara wanted to show him. She looked back at him, “So, are we ready?”
He stood from looking over everything and walked over to her seat and draped his arm over the back of it. “So, onward to the wild, wild, west.”
“And then we can decide just how far into civilization we want to be, and then how much we’re going to be leaving our beds.”
He laughed, “Lead the way, Assassin.”
“Every day, Crook.” She kissed him before setting a serious look towards the main window. “Gideon, to the old west.”
“Right away, Captain Snart. And remember, both of you must return to your time in exactly two weeks.”
“We got it, Gideon. We’re on a time ship. We’ll make it.” Sara turned to Len. “Let’s go.”
“To the new chapter in our lives.”
“To the future of me and you.”
