Summary
In our world, there are unconventional ways to gain magic. A path few talk about. Most think you're either born with it or not. Then there is the path less walked mainly for its risks it was attempted to be buried. The second kind of Warlock those who bind themselves to Spirits, Fae, or Gods in exchange for a favor in return. Most of those who choose this path weren't born with magic of their own. Harry chose this path to avoid being controlled by the White Council who'd otherwise see him as a monster. While Elaine goes off to be trained by the White Council, Harry is seen as barely above a mortal and is allowed to follow his own path.
A few years after he arrived in Chicago he's finally stable. He has a job at the university that pays his bills and had enough free time to do experiments. Just before his 23rd birthday, Fate decided his life was too simple. A gang war breaks out as the Outfit has a coup and both provisional leaders seek to hire Supernatural forces. Then there was the transfer Professor who starts at the University who takes an interest in Harry. Why was this his life?

Summary
