Chapter Text

When Tommy’s sobs finally subsides, he stands up straight and realizes he’s no longer in the cramp ravine that Pogtopia resided in. Rather he is standing in what he could only assume is Mumza’s place. His face shifts to confusion as he looks at the section of the area behind her. He can’t make out anyone specific, just recognizable landmarks

“That’s the Greater SMP,” Mumza explains, not needing to see where he was looking.

“You’ve been watching over us?” Tommy asks, taking steps towards the section. He reaches out as if he’d be able to touch and feel the mortal realm.

“Always, it’s the only way I’d be able to see you,” She admits, walking up behind him before placing a hand on his shoulder.

“How’re we here? I’m supposed to be in limbo,” Tommy asks, looking down towards his mother.

“You’ve been in limbo for too long and it took me too long to realize, you know how Distra is,” Mumza lets out a soft laugh at the mention of the young blonde.

“Distra’s a goddess?” Tommy asks, pausing to let the information sink in before a smile spreads across his face. “That makes a lot of fucking sense.” That earns him a smack upside the head. “Yep, I deserved that,” he groans, rubbing the side of his head before shooting his mum a playful glare.

“But you didn’t deserve what happened to you,” Mumza says, switching tones and conversations.

“I…” Tommy starts but for the first time ever, he’s left speechless with overwhelming emotions. “I don’t think I’ve been told that,” he admits.

“Moonbeam, people told you all the time, but the Green Bastard,” Mumza starts, anger obvious in her tone at the mention of Dream, her veil is lifting along with her hair. Her eyes turn an emerald green and Tommy realized it would be a good idea to calm her down.

“Mum, I did that because I love Ranboo, Micheal, and Tubbo. I couldn’t stand to see them hurting,” Tommys says, pulling her into a hug.

“Oh, Tommy,” Mumza mumbles, her voice full of sorrow. “People care about you and they were hurt when you were taken from them.”

“No one showed up to my beach party,” Tommy sighs.

Even though for him the beach party had been years ago, to him it still felt like people didn’t care enough to come to see him at his worst. It’s been years and it’s still a painful memory even though it ended with him flying with Dream’s trident, which he considered a good memory. That good portion doesn’t cover the massive hurt he was left with when he felt abandoned by his friends, the people he considered his family.

“Dream stopped Ghostbur from inviting people,” Mumza reveals. “They care about you and I’m sure people would’ve come. You deserve the world.” Tommy breaks down crying again for the second time in his mother’s arms.

He can’t believe that there’s a chance people care about him. “People care about me?” Tommy asks, his voice sounding so little it might as well have come from a child.

“Of, course people care about you,” Mumza reassures. “You’re a hero, you’re never afraid to stand up against people trying to stomp on your beliefs. You have a fire burning inside of you that is the brightest I’ve ever seen. You are a loyal friend. You are kind. You’re determined, it doesn’t matter what you put your mind to, you’ve always managed to pull through. Even though you’ve been through hell you still have the spirit to joke around. I’m so proud of the person you’ve become and you still have so much growing and healing to do. You can’t do that in limbo. As Phil said when he found you in my woods, I just want to see you live a long, healthy, and happy life.”

Tommy cries as Mumza pulls them gently to the ground. She kneels, resting his head on her lap. She runs her fingers through his hair as his sobs quietly subside into snores. She hums a lullaby as she waits for him to wake up. She doesn’t rush him, she has all of eternity after all and he needs the sleep.

As Tommy stirs he thinks, seeing his mother is a dream until he realizes he hears the quiet hum that put him to sleep as a child accompanied by the voice that he started to hear while in limbo. “Mum?” he asks, not expecting her to answer. He sits up quickly at a noise of acknowledgment. He looks around, surveying his surroundings.

“You’re safe, Moonbeam,” Mumza reassures.

“How long was I in limbo for?” Tommy asks, shifting his head back towards the area that showcased the Greater SMP.

“This time, I think it’s been two months. Dream hasn’t been showing up around the main area, for good reason in my opinion,” she explains, standing up. She holds out a hand for Tommy to take.

“Five years in limbo,” Tommy sighs. “Soon enough I’ll be Wilbur’s older brother.”

“Don’t say things like that please,” Mumza sighs.

“Ok, Mum,” Tommy nods, taking another look around the area. “Have I somehow been here before?”

“In your dreams,” Mumza provides, causing Tommy to chuckle. “Not like that,” she says with an eye roll. The voices creep in the back of his mind. “When you were younger your dreams were one of the only things I could use to keep in touch with you, so I did XD a favor and he sent what I asked for your dreams to you.”

“What type of favor?” Tommy asks. The voices were louder than ever. He looks around to see where they were coming from but sees nothing.

“I’m the one who made the revival book,” Mumza admits, causing him to take steps backward, and even though the area seems as if it continues, his back hits a wall. He turns to look at what he hit and there is nothing but the invisible border. He lets out a panicked breath before turning to face her. Realization dawns over his face as he smack the wall again. Over and over again

“I… I’m still in limbo! But h-ow! I don’t have this mem-. The fucking dreams! Oh, Prime! Oh, Kristen!” he calls out in despair.

A tutting pulls his attention away from the invisible boarder that trapped back towards where the mother his limbo created stood, she had been replaced with XD. He was floating there in his green and gold robes. He has two pairs of arms and three sets of golden wings lining his back. He has two gold circles that are floating and crossing around his white cracked mask that revealed one emerald eye. He held a staff with a floating eye of ender on the top. He looks ethereal and all-powerful.

“Interesting, I thought that would take you longer,” he echoes, looking down on the boy. “I’m surprised Kristen hasn’t come to collect you. She is your mother after all. Maybe people don’t care for you as that mortal, my faithful follower, claims.”

“N-No that… that's not true, p… people c-care,” Tommy stutters out between panicked breaths.

“No matter how much hope you have of going back, Tommyinnit, you’re not going to. You are going to be stuck here because Prime doesn’t care about you. Kristen has more important people and things to focus on. And the people of the mortal realm are content without you. Philza, Technoblade, Wilbur, Ranboo, Tubbo, are all happier that you’re gone. They never truly cared about you, that is what you believed anyway, isn’t it?”

Notes:

Mumza sus? That's the end. The other endings were going to be, people killed Dream while he had Tommy on the mortal realm, the second being that they kill Dream, leaving Tommy in limbo forever, and finally Dream continuing on with his life, Tommy would've been taken to live with a real mumza... you could've had it all lmao. I was going to write them all, idk still might write some of them, would you guys like to see that?

Notes:

Hope you enjoy, I'll post more when I feel like it.
