Chapter Text
It was a beautiful spring day. Flowers were in bloom, birds were singing. Everything was perfect. Shoto Todoroki and Hanta Sero were getting ready for their wedding.
“Are you sure this looks okay?” Shoto asked as he looked over his white suit that had red accents. He had spent two months looking for the right outfit but now, he had doubts.
“Sho, It’s perfect,” Izuku said. He was braiding Shoto’s long hair, putting on fake flowers as well. Shoto had to be walking down the aisle in 10 minutes. Shoto was still anxious as ever, he was twisting his engagement ring as he did a lot nowadays. “You look beautiful and Sero is gonna think so as well. You and him are soulmates, you both deserve to be happy on this beautiful day,” Izuku said, finishing the braid and putting one last flower in the braid. Shoto looked himself over, he had a white dress shirt with a white blazer that had red accents. He also had black slacks with black shoes.
“I’m getting married,” Shoto said, a big grin forming across his face. “I'm excited, but very nervous,” Shoto said. Izuku wrapped his arms around him, looking at him through his full body mirror.
“You almost look as beautiful as I did,” Shoto laughed lightly and shoved Izuku away lightly. “Hey,” Izuku exclaimed, he held a hand to his chest and dramatically huffed and walked away. Shoto just rolled his eyes.
“Thank you for being here, Izuku, I know you and Katsuki were planning on going on a much-needed vacation,” Shoto said, Izuku looked at him softly.
“We would never miss your big day, you’re family, Sho,” Izuku said, Shoto chuckled and his dressing room door opened. Katsuki walked in and wrapped his arm around Izuku looking over Shoto’s outfit.
“Not bad. You ready, IcyHot?” Katsuki asked, Shoto took a deep breath. Shoto walked out of the dressing room, the WOnder Duo following after him, outside, Aizawa was there, with Shoto’s bouquet, ready to walk him down the aisle.
The first thing Shoto and Sero decided was that Aizawa would walk Shoto down the aisle. The man was a father to Shoto more than Endeavor ever was, they did invite the man but surprisingly he didn’t ask, not offer to walk Shoto down the aisle. Even he knew he didn’t deserve that honor. There’s one thing the man got right.
“Problem Children…” Aizawa said addressing Class A’s old Big Three, he then looked at Shoto with a fondness only a father could have for their child and reached a hand out for Shoto to take. “Ready Shoto?” Aizawa asked, he was in a black tuxedo, his hair tied in a bun, everyone was dressed nice and proper. Shoto took the bouquet from Aizawa and linked their hands together.
“Ready as I’ll ever be,” Shoto said, Izuku and Katsuki took their leave and sat close to their other friends. Shoto took a deep breath and soft music began to play. Shoto froze. Aizawa furrowed his eyebrows and gently tugged Shoto’s arm to gain his attention.
“Kid. Everything’s gonna be alright, you have friends and family around you, you have your fiancee, who I have seen grow and mature and protect you and your friends to the end. You two are Sero and Todoroki, everything is gonna be okay,” Aizawa said, Shoto looked over at the man he has considered a father figure since his first year at UA. The stern, powerful Pro Hero who has a soft, sweet side for his kids. He smiled softly and the two began walking. Shoto was still nervous but with Katsuki and Aizawa’s speeches, Shoto knows he can do this.
Shoto took a deep breath and looked up and his jaw almost dropped. Sero was there looking handsome in his black suit. He had a white dress shirt, black blazer, and black slacks along with black shoes. He looked absolutely stunning. Shoto noticed him staring wide-eyed at Shoto, they haven’t seen each other's outfits, they wanted it to be a surprise. And boy did it work out, they were definitely shocked. Aizawa had to keep a firm grip on Shoto as the man almost froze just by seeing his lover. He chuckled softly.
“Had the same reaction,” Aizawa spoke softly. Shoto looked up at him. “Almost stopped halfway, if it wasn’t for my mother, I remembered Mic’s face, he stumbled over his vows over beauty,” Aizawa continued, Shoto chuckled softly, Aizawa unlinked their arms and bowed both to Shoto and Sero. Aizawa went to his sport next to Mic.
Shoto took a deep breath, he handed his flower bouquet to his maid of honor, for Izuku to hold and he held hands with Sero, squeezing them lightly. They both looked at their officiant. The music stopped and the officiant began speaking. Shoto just stared into Sero’s eyes. Sero gave him a soft smile, a smile that said. ‘ We’re here, ready?’ Shoto focused back on the officiant but did not take his eyes off Sero.
“If you have vows now is the time to speak them,” the officiant said, Shoto gestured for Sero to start.
“Shoto. The moment I saw you, I knew I wanted to get to know you, you were the stoic, closed-off person that I just had to meet, it was a feeling in my gut, a feeling of wanting, no need to know you, and ever since that day, in our first year Sports Festival, when you helped me out of the ice, I knew there were layers to you, ever since then, I’ve seen how soft, kind, and loving person you are-” Sero lifted a hand to gently caress Shoto’s cheek, the bi-color haired man had to force himself not to cry. “- You, Mi Amor, Mi Rey, you are the love of my life, my one and only,” Sero said, Shoto chuckled lightly, a tear falling onto Sero’s palm.
“Hanta… Sweet, caring, protective Hanta. My Hanta. I’m not going to lie, definitely not love at first sight,” Shoto began, getting a chuckle from Sero and the audience. “Neither of our lives were fairytales, but as I got to know you, you are your need to hug or show some type of affection towards me, I got to know you, and I knew before we even graduated that I wanted you in my life, forever. You bring a new side of me, a happy, giddy, overjoyed side, where I can smile, laugh freely, and not have to worry about reality, I love that about you,” Shoto continued, he saw Sero’s face, a big grin on his face with tears falling from his eyes. Shoto took a breath. “Hanta Sero, You, my love, are my everything. My whole world, I hope to be with you ‘til my time on Earth comes to an end, alongside you, fighting with you,” Shoto said, Sero stared at with an awestruck. Shoto wasn’t one to speak his feelings, unlike his friends, when he did try to put words to explain his feelings, they just didn’t come together as easily as someone like Izuku, who can write essays on what he’s feeling. But with his small speech, Sero and everyone knew Shoto’s true feelings. That Sero was his True Happiness. The officiant cleared his throat and smiled softly at the couple.
“Shoto Todoroki, do you take Hanta Sero to be your lawfully wedded husband ? Will you honor and cherish him ; love, trust, and commit to him , through joy and pain, sickness and health, and whatever life may throw at you both until death do you part?” The officiant asked, Shoto didn’t need to even think about it, Sero was his, his soulmate, his lover, his partner for life. His soulmate.
“I do,” Shoto said, smiling fondly at Sero. The officiant asked the same question to Sero, word per word.
“I do,” Sero said, squeezing Shoto’s hand lightly.
“May the ring bearer step forward please?” the officiant said, 10, almost 11-year old Kota stepped up with a small pillow that had two silver bands. Both silver bands had small diamonds engraved into the rings, inside the rings had engravings as well. ‘ My Sunshine ’ on one and ‘ My Moonlight ’ on the other.
“Sero, please repeat after me: Shoto Todoroki, I promise to love you and commit to you my whole life. I promise to be there for you when you need me, to be honest with you, to be faithful to you and you alone, and to walk through the valleys of life together, just as we will stand atop mountains together, too.” The officiant said, Sero repeated what the officiant said, grabbing Shoto’s ring. Shoto saw the engravings and chuckled lightly.
“Hanta,” Shoto said just below a whisper. Sero smiled and locked eyes with Shoto after giving his hand a light squeeze.
“Todoroki, please repeat after me: Hanta Sero, I promise to love you and commit to you my whole life. I promise to be with you when you need me, to be honest with you, to be faithful to you and you alone, and to walk through the valleys of life together, just as we will stand atop mountains together, too” The officiant said, Shoto repeated exactly as he was told to, grabbing the other ring and slipping onto Sero’s ring finger.
“With the power vested in me, I am so happy to pronounce you husband and husband ! You may now kiss your partner,” The officiant announced, Sero didn’t miss a beat and pulled Shoto by the waist into a soft, sweet kiss, Shoto didn’t know how but he could feel all his love for Shoto in just that gesture. Feel all the things he wanted to say, he knew just from that gesture. When they pulled back the sound of cheers from their friends and family finally reached their ears. The two laughed softly.
“I love Mr. Sero,” Shoto said, Sero brought Shoto into a tight and loving embrace.
“And I love you, Mr. Sero,” Sero said, he interlocked their hands and they walked down the aisle, their groomsmen and bridesmaid followed after.
Shoto was happy. Beyond happy. He had the love of his life by his side, he finally didn’t have to call himself a Todoroki, he decided if he did marry he’d take his partner's surname and Sero was beyond happy to give Shoto his name. So yeah, Shoto was happy.
“Alright, Extras, as the best man I have prepared a speech for the newlyweds,” Katsuki announced, Shoto sighed and looked over at Sero who was regretting his choice of best man. “Hanta Sero and Shoto formally Todoroki now Sero. To summarize their love story, chaotic. As I would describe most of the extras from our Hero Class but damn, they were sure a handful. From IcyHot’s pining to Tape- Sero’s obliviousness, somedays you’d want to stick them in a closet and wait for them to figure their feelings out,” Katsuki said, Shoto and Sero blushed, embarrassed from the verbal attack, others n the audience laughed, Aizawa grumbled about his students bein ‘Problem Children with no filter’.
“But. they worked it out, and they are in love, you could see it from the number of times the shitty bastard, stared at each other. They did have their problems, what relationship doesn’t, If you name a relationship that didn’t have problems you're fuckin’ blind or lyin’ to yourself,” Katsuki said, Izuku took this as his cue to steal the mic from Katsuki.
“Let me cut in for a second,” he stated, giving Katsuki a small glare. “ Shoto and Hanta, They were each other savior and knight in shining armor, anyone could see it. They helped each other in their worst moments, and build each other up when they didn’t think they were worth it. Hanta always included Shoto in everything but did know his boundaries, Shoto was thoughtful of Hanta’s worries but he put in an effort to understand him better, the two made the most chaotic problems and came up with the most out-of-the-box solutions, they were each others fire and ice, No pun intended Shoto,” Izuku said, gaining soft laughs and chuckles from the audience and newlyweds. “I remembered the day Shoto came to our friend's ground when he figured out his crush on Hanta,” Izuku said, Shoto groaned, Izuku chuckled. “He burst through my dorm room where the others and I were studying and we thought he was coming in with a conspiracy theory or another reason why I was All Might’s secret love child, boy did he love those conspiracies, but no first thing he said was ‘I need a hospital’ that definitely caught out attention; after further explanation, we figured Shoto just had a crush on Hanta, he didn't admit to it until the day after. It was fun- Is that the right word - it was exciting to see their relationship blossom and bloom. We saw how they danced around each other for a bit, how they went through their ups and downs and how they got to where they are now, It was not love at first sight, more like curiosity for the other. A boy who was happy caught the attention of a stoic distant boy, then they fell in love, now here they are married and still have that in love look they had back in school, and I cannot wait to see how their story continued,” Izuku said, handing the mic back to Katsuki.
“To Mr. and Mr. Sero. You bastards will be as annoying as you were when you started dating, but we love ya, Congratulations,” Katsuki said, as he and Izuku walked back to their seats. Shoto gave Izuku a fond and grateful look when they locked eyes.
“Alright, Can the newlyweds come to the dance floor, it is time for their first dance,” Mic who was the DJ for the wedding announced. Sero grabbed Shoto’s hand and led him to the dance floor and soft music began to play, Shoto wrapped an arm around Sero’s neck, Sero wrapped a hand around Shoto’s waist and they interlocked their other hands. Shoto closed his eyes and leaned his head on Sero’s shoulder. They’ve slowed dance before, many times in their apartment kitchen, Sero singing softly to Shoto but this was different. The atmosphere was calm but had that exciting undertone, like when he and Sero went on their first date, though Shoto was not as nervous as he was when he waited for Sero in the common room that night. Shoto hummed softly to the music, allowing Sero to guide him and lead the dance. He opened his eyes when Sero spun him, he laughed softly and wrapped his arm back around Sero’s shoulder, he held his hand to Sero’s nape, lightly pulling on Sero’s small hairs that were near the back of his nape.
“I love you Shoto,” Hanta said, he let Shoto’s hand go and caressed his cheek lovingly. Shoto wrapped both his hands around Sero’s neck, leaning into his touch. Sero bent down and the two shared a soft, chaste kiss. When they parted they now noticed other couples slow dancing along with them, Shoto gave Sero a found smile then parted with him to go and steal Izuku from Katsuki.
“Mind, if I steal your husband for a second?” Shoto asked, not waiting for an answer and grabbing Izuku by his waist and spinning him. Izuku chuckled. “Thanks for that amazing speech,” Shoto said. Izuku gave him a soft smile.
“Of course, you’re my best friend Shoto, me and Kacchan were honored to be able to speak at your wedding,” Izuku said, Shoto chuckled, his voice breaking as the tears that have been building up since the ceremony finally spilled. “Aw Sho,” Izuku said, stopping their movements and giving Shoto a hug.
“Deku mind me steeping in,” they both heard a deep, familiar voice say, they turned to see Aizawa standing there, Izuku gave Shoto one last pat and left to dance with someone else. Shoto felt Aizawa pull him into a slow dance, the older male had a hand on his waist and the other holding Shoto’s hand, Shoto held onto Aizawa’s shoulder as they danced.
“Guess this is the Father and the Bride Dance,” Shoto said, his voice heavy with emotions, Aizawa chuckled and spun Shoto.
“I’m proud of you Shoto, from all you’ve accomplished, all you’ve overcome, you deserve this, this day,” Aizawa said, Shoto smiled up at his old teacher, he knew, well all of the old Class A knew that Aizawa hated seeing them grow up, he’s been here for all of their big accomplishments. All of their ups and downs. Shoto can’t even count how many times the man helped them through panic attacks, meltdowns, training, homework, and even personal issues (*cough* Endeavor *couch) Aizawa was there for them, and it hurt to see his kids go but like a mother bird, he has to let his baby birds leave the nest someday right.
“Thank you for being here,” Shoto said. He gave Aizawa a kiss on his cheek and they finished their dance. Shoto returned to his and Sero’s seats not too soon after. He saw Sero dancing with Mina and Denki. Shoto smiled softly. Sero caught his gaze and walked to his husband.
“How was your dance with ‘Zawa?” Sero asked, Shoto looked at him with tear streaks still on his cheeks, Sero’s expression softened and he gently caressed Shoto’s cheeks with his thumbs. “Mi Amor? What’s wrong?” Sero asked softly. Shoto chuckled softly.
“I’m okay, I’m just happy, super happy,” Shoto said, Sero chuckled and sat next to Shoto.
“I’m happy, too, with everyone here, not fighting for their lives and just being normal… -ish,” Sero said, now noticing Denki and Mina dancing like nobody’s watching, even though everyone is watching. “It’s a nice change of pace,” Sero said, Shoto nodded.
Shoto and Sero watched as their friends and family danced and celebrated It was nice and calm, from being Pro Heroes and their lives being at risk 24/7 it was nice to just be able to relax and have something normal going on, no villains, no world-ending danger, no drama, well the only drama is a bet whether ShinKami will tie the knot or MomoJirou will finally confess after years of pining.
Shoto is happy, more than happy, he is overjoyed.
Yeah, he still has his trauma but with his husband and friends by his side. Life can be tolerable again. Shoto finally found his True Happiness, his family.
