Chapter Text

Izuku had by now gotten pretty much all of UA on his side. Some were still apprehensive but Izuku was patient. All of the teachers had agreed with his plans and motives, also he convinced Nezu so they understood that if the both of them were on the same side there was no point in arguing back. The remains of class 1-A all came to his side immediately after the attack. Other friends he made like Hatsume, Mirio, and many from class 1-B also came to his side quite quickly as well. Others in the school took a little bit more convincing but once they knew their principle was on his side they followed along.

With UA acting as the main hero branch of Japan's government, Izuku now has an extremely strong group, but there can never be too many. The league had been tasked to convince other heroes, that were deemed “worthy” by spinner, to join their cause as well.

With the league, UA, and other heroes here and there, they were pretty powerful. Izuku knew he wanted to complete a few more tasks before taking over the government but if he wanted to he could very well right now.

But even with such a big team Izuku still tried to make sure his friends were okay.

~~~~~~~
When Aoyama, Tsu, and Shoji were recovering from the explosion, Izuku often checked up on them to keep them updated and make sure they were alright. Tsu and Shoji had never been a problem in those terms but for some reason Aoyama never seemed to come around.
Izuku found it odd. Before becoming a villain, he and Aoyama were quite close, it was even Aoyama who approached Izuku in the first place, but now Aoyama seemed to do everything to avoid him. He seemed depressed all the time, he never tried to put himself in the centre of attention or barge his way into conversations like he used to. Now he was reserved and quiet and it honestly freaked Izuku out. He understands that the explosion was hard on all of them but nobody else's personality did a 180 like Aoyamas did.
Izuku didn’t know why Aoyama suddenly disliked him but Izuku was going to find out because making friends in the weirdest of situations was one of his strong suits.
~~~~~~~

Izuku knocked on the door to Aoyama's dorm, which was right beside his old one. It was a few seconds before Aoyama opened the door.

“Oh, Midoriya.” he said. “What do you want?”

“I just came to check up on you, you’ve been acting strange lately and i got worried.” Izuku explained.

“Strange? How?” He asked.

“Well you are a lot less social than you used to be and almost never talk. I also noticed that you’ve been avoiding me even though we were friends before.” Izuku explained.

“Just stressed and confused.” Aoyama said. He had been, not so subtly, slowly closing the door the whole time. Izuku stopped it with his foot.

“Wanna talk about it?” He asked.

“Not really.” Aoyama glared at him. “You, out of all people, would never understand.”

“Then help me understand. Aoyama, I'm worried about you.”

“You don't get it.” Aoyama looked away. “You’ll never get it, someone like you will never get it.”

“Someone like,,, me?” Izuku mumbled. “What's that supposed to mean?”

“I used to hang out with you because I thought you could understand me, I thought we were similar. But it turns out we’re opposites who’ll never understand each other.”

“We can try.” Izuku suggested. Aoyama didn’t say anything, he just avoided Izuku's eyes. “Please.”

Aoyama sighed before getting out of the doorway. Izuku gave him a soft smile before entering the room. Inside his room was much different then he remembered. Back in the room contest Aoyama's room was covered in mirrors and shiny things. But now the room was simplistic and had no more mirrors.

Izuku sat on Aoyama's bed. It was a creamy white like the rest of the room. Aoyama sat down beside him.

“We’re very different people.” Aoyama started. “For most of my life I have,,, suffered because of things I couldn't control. My parents tried very hard to define nature's rules and give me what I needed to fit in, but it only made things worse. I was forced to do things I wished I had never done in fear of my life. I tried so hard to be a good person, a normal person, a hero, but in the end I had no choice but being a villain. You, on the other hand may have started off like me, given the genetic short stick, but you pushed hard and got what you wanted without sacrificing your freedom. Even in your path of villainy you are so good and only wish for society to be better, and I'm jealous. I'm jealous that you have the choice, I'm jealous that you have the strength to do whatever you desire, I'm jealous that you're smart, I'm jealous that you made it so much farther than I could ever. But I'm also confused. You had everything, why throw it out for a path a villainy filled with so much more risks? You're so brave and are willing to gamble everything just to make the world just slightly better and I wish that could be me. But I'm a coward, I'm weak and no matter how hard I try I'll never be good enough. I have no choice but to obey those above me because I could die if I don't and I know I'm not strong enough, I know I'll never be strong enough. I'm jealous that even though we started from the same point you got the good ending and i didnt.”

Izuku took in everything Aoyama said. He may have not gone into any details about what the “genetic short stick” was or who “those about me” were, but he knew that Aoyama was suffering. to him Izuku had the perfect life and threw it away. He wanted Izuku's life. Izuku understood that. He was very familiar with envying someone else's life. Izuku looked at Aoyama with sad eyes.

“It's okay. You don't have to be alone. We’ll fight your demons together because you don't need to do something alone to be strong.”

Things may still be foggy, but it was clearing.
