Chapter Text
It was late when you finally, reluctantly left for the night, just before lockdown.
Eclipse walked back to the daycare slowly, and to any outside observer, they looked as though they were just on their security patrol.
But inside the headspace, a heated debate was occurring.
We CAN’T! Sunny cried, distraught. How could you even suggest it?!
We HAVE to! Moon shot back. We can’t let her suffer like this! We’re making her miserable! he choked on a sob in the headspace. She deserves better than us.
W-we are not! The tremor in Sunny’s voice was overridden by their anger. Eclipse, we can’t let her go!
Eclipse himself was silent as they climbed the nonfunctional escalators, Sunny and Moon continuing to argue.
They all wanted to give you a normal life. But their methods ...differed.
Sunny sought to stay within the boundaries, follow the rules, figure it out from within. He believed that it would work itself out.
Moon thought they were hurting you too badly by keeping you with them. He was willing to give you up if it would let you be happy, and believed that you would be better off with a normal human relationship.
Neither, of course, had mentioned this to you, or asked what you thought about it. That was their oversight, Eclipse thought. They wanted to protect you, to make you happy, but they hadn't thought to ask you how they should do so. So they made their own opinions, and tried to work towards that impossible dream.
But Eclipse... Eclipse had other plans. The other two didn’t notice until he was nearly inside of the security office.
Eclipse. Sunny said, alarmed. What are you doing? No! We can't go in there!
Eclipse glanced up at the security camera in the corner. His eyes glitched, and the camera light shut off. He put two hands against the door, hooking his claws in, and pulled. The door ground open, and he stepped in.
Eclipse, wait! Moon cried, his voice full of static. We can't..zchk...go-
Eclipse shook off the painful shock that had silenced his counterparts, and pressed the button for the speaker system.
“Security protocols have been activated.” Eclipse said into the microphone, but the voice that emerged was Vanessa’s. “A trespasser has been identified. All patrolling bots, proceed to the arcade."
Eclipse let go the button, knelt, and ripped a handful of wiring out of the underside of the security panel. The console flickered and died with a crackling sound.
He turned and left the security office, Sun and Moon buzzing slowly back into hearing range as he did.
Eclipse... Sunny said, watching his memory of the last minute. You...
Eclipse walked through the long all of Rockstar Row, the red lights on the security cameras blinked and went out as he passed them. "I sent them all to the arcade."
Where are we going? Moon asked, eagerness beginning to creep into his tone. Eclipse smiled, his thick, sharp upper teeth showing.
“Out.” he said. The two in the headspace exchanged a glance.
...to her. Sunny breathed, immediately caught up in the idea.
We have her profile in our databank. Moon said eagerly. We can find her...
Would she... Sunny hesitated. Would she be okay with that?
"Sunny." Eclipse said in a sardonic tone as he walked down the stilled escalators. "Do you listen when she talks to us?"
Of course! Sunny said defensively. I just enjoy the cuddling. A lot.
Moon chuckled. She loves us, sunshine. She will be happy to see us.
Eclipse walked into the lobby of the Plex, striding purposefully towards the glass doors in the front, which stood unblocked.
What...? Moon began, then understood why Eclipse had ripped the wiring from the security panel in the main office. His sabotage had kept lockdown from activating. His eyes glitched again, and the electronic locks on the doors clicked open.
He stood in front of them. Sun and Moon were silent now. The taste of freedom so close...a life with you.
“This tide pool is too small.” Eclipse said. “It's time to grab our pebbles...and run for the ocean.” he put his hands on the doors and shoved them open. Come hell or high water, they would give you the life you deserved.
They ran.
