Summary
“Are you talking about…?” Will lets the question trail off, trusting Mike to know exactly what he means.
“Yeah,” Mike worries his bottom lip between his teeth. “Yeah. I’m talking about our conversation by the tower, Will.”
Hearing his name like that, deliberate, weighted, makes Will’s chest tighten. Mike only does that when something really matters. And this matters.
“I—” Will starts, then exhales in shaky relief when Mike cuts him off. Thank God. He has no idea what he was about to say. He’s barely holding himself together.
“Just let me finish, okay?” Mike insists. Will could swear he shifts closer. “I mean… I can’t be more than your best friend. I just can’t, Will.”
The words hit like a punch, and before the ache in Will’s chest can fully set in, Mike rushes on.
“But I want to do things to you,” he admits quietly, honestly, “that no best friends should ever want to do to each other.”
Or Mike is a repressed POS who wants Will without having to face what wanting him actually means.

Will's lips quirk upwards.
"Look at you," he murmurs, voice dipped in quiet amusement as his thumb presses more firmly beneath Mike's chin, forcing him to keep his head tilted, peering up at him. "Can't even speak 'cause you're so hard."
He's silent for a moment, as if letting the words settle into Mike's already overheating skin. The smirk that laces his face is so terribly deliberate, wholly indulgent, like he's savoring the sight of Mike being so ruined, so helpless in his own domain, and Mike hates it. Hates the way it makes his stomach flip, makes him want to grab Will's shoulders and get him on his knees, shove his face down to his cock.
"You've always been good with words, Mike," Will continues to sneer, leaning a fraction closer so that their foreheads nearly brush. "Who's the storyteller now?"
In which Mike would do anything to have Will, even if it means spilling some blood along the way.

He’d be lying if he said he had caught many names, but one was sure to stick out in his mind for the rest of the semester. When the name Will Byers fell from the students lips, it almost felt too perfect. Short, unassuming, and yet it was now burned into his memory like a steel brand.
Mike finds himself enjoying the company of one of his students far more than the school policy allows.
