Summary
Finally his goal was within reach and he could just about peer inside. It was deeper than he had expected it to be and only the first dozen or so feet were still illuminated by the setting sun. But back in the shadows he could manage to make out the silhouette of something big. Something tall. And something alive. At least... for now. His stomach twisted into knots as he began to creep inside. His venom was weak but his huge tail was more than enough to squeeze the life out of anything he caught. If he could just surprise this massive creature, wrap around them, and keep hold until bones broke or they suffocated he would have earned himself a meal big enough to keep him satisfied for months! Any other time he would have never dreamed of going after such a huge beast, but hunger was making him desperate and sloppy. Just a little closer… Just a little bit closer… Just-
And then the massive shape twisted and two golden eyes peered out at him from the darkness.
