“Do you know what this is, Tommy? It’s a ball. Can you say ball?”
Tommy laughed.
Wilbur smiled when he heard the laughter-- there was just something infectious about it-- but he had his eyes on the prize. “No, not quite. See, you have to make a ‘b’ noise. Buh. Like Wil-buh-er. Or Buh-itch. Okay? Buh-alls. You try it. Buh-alls.”
“Buh.”
Wilbur clapped. “Very good! Now the rest. Buh-alls. Balls.”
“Buh.”
Wilbur picked himself up off the carpet, walked over to the wall, banged his head against the wall three times before neatly kneeling down with his hands clasped together in his lap.

Summary
Tommy’s blue eyes blinked at Phil as he crawled over to Phil of his own volition, letting out a staccato of chirps. Phil grinned when he heard it, scooping up the little bird in his arms and swinging him around in a circle.
“Yes! Yes, that’s right, Toms! I’m your protector!” He brought Tommy’s face close to his, brushing his nose against Tommy’s. The baby laughed, his grubby little hands grabbing both sides of Phil’s face and patting on them.
Phil lowered Tommy, before a sobering thought passed through his mind. “We should tell your brother, Wilbur. You remember Wilbur, right? You met him at the Pube, where we first met you.”
Tommy chirped.

Or, Phil finds Tommy and plans to adopt him and get him to imprint. Wilbur feels a little neglected because of this.
