“I dropped my handkerchief.” She said with a smug grin on her face. “Would you be a dear and pick it up for me?”
Without lifting his gaze, he picked up the handkerchief with both hands and slowly handed it to Toph. After he felt her take the handkerchief, he went back to his original bowing position as the Fire Lady still hadn't given him permission to rise.
With exaggerated motion, Toph made a show of using the handkerchief to wipe the hand Ruong just kissed. The rest of the court waited with bated breaths as Toph was scrubbing away superficial dirt off the back of her hand.
Once she’s finished, she handed the handkerchief to Masako and told her to dispose of it because it was already tainted.
