She is Lin Beifong, and she made it here on her own merit, not by luck, not by favor, and certainly not by being soft.
“I cannot believe I actually agreed to this,” she mutters under her breath, jaw tight, as the boat finally glides toward the dock. Ember Island. The famous retreat of the Fire Nation. A place meant for peace, for relaxation, for forgetting the world’s burdens. Lin Beifong has never felt further from Republic City than she does right now.

Canon adjacent expansion on LOK with each episode being around a chapter in length. I add my own scenes and details in between the dialogue from the show. Slight change in that Korrasami happens much sooner because there was tension in season 1 anyway :)

Inspired by my one shot chapters named Damnit Ember, this is where the White Lotus fucking sucks. Korra ends up half dead from their treatment of her as a child and in her half dead and dying state she can see, hear and interact with her past lives.
Now the past Avatars are teaching and trying to help this child they all adopted emotionally....
And well a lot of changes happen because of all of this.

As you know, the physical and spirit realm have been shattered by a devastating cataclysm. Though, After the event, everyone painted the avatar as the villain. What did Korra do? We don't know, she doesn't know. Pavi doesn't know. Shes just a child. Korra probably made an accident, maybe she was framed? Either way, it doesn't matter now. She needs to find a way.
In this Au, Pavi tries to find a way to contact the Gaang, And the Krew. Later going to Papa Iroh II for help and hoping to contact the Fire Lord who helped ended the war and the best friend of the avatar before Korra.

While still in the White Lotus compound Korra was forced to stop Unalaq's plan but her choice to leave the Spirit Portals opened send ripples throughout the world. Discontent at the current situation is causing more and more people to join the clandestine Equalist movement. With Korra deciding to stop hiding and come to Republic City, what welcome will await her?

Season 2 of Korra took place before Season 1, though it probably proceeded in a different way. Harmonic Convergence happened so new Airbenders, yey. Korra finally comes to Republic City among major unrest related to the Spirit Portals being open, the emergence of spirits and Spirit Vines. And Asami is an Equalist. And a new Airbender. But she doesn't know the last part. Yet.
